I don't think Helaran knew he could surgebind, but even if could, he was wearing shardplate which interfers with surgebinding. I definitely do not think he was surgebinding when he fought Kaladin. I'm just trying to figure out why Mr. T thought Helaran could surgebind or could at least teach Shallan how to. @dvorean I know it was an on the spot lie, but what if it was based on a truth (a blade is missing)?

It's something Szeth could theoretically check on so Mr. T wouldn't want that to be a lie. I've read other ideas related to number 1. Essentially for 1 to be true, some form of Helaran bonding a spren through getting a weapon than killing said spren would have to be true since upon his death, Amaram was able to bond the sword. If Helaran was a KR with a live spren bonded, killing him would not have left a weapon behind. If Helaran instead stole an Honorblade, Mr. T could assume he would figure out how to surgebind, but maybe Helaran never realized its potential. Maybe he treated the Honorblade like a regular shardblade. Somewhat related, I do not think Helaran joined the Skybreakers. Maize told Shallan Why did your father join us? Why did your brother seek out the Skybreakers? I think it's important that he says Lin joined them but Helaran "seeked" the Skybreakers. I think Helaran was looking for answers about who his mom's friend was which led him to the Skybreakers. In his search, he could have found the Shen who some hypothesize are the original Skybreakers or their descendants. I think he tried to kill Amaram either on his own or for a group working against the Sons of Honor. Sorry if this has already been talked about. I do not understand why everyone says people have to be broken before getting a spren bond. Shallan was not broken when she first bonded. Her binding a spren is what made her mom turn against her which then made her kill her mom in self defense. All the broken stuff happened after she already formed the bond. Sure Dalinar and Kaladin were broken, but I don't think that means Renarin and Jasnah were also broken.

Are there any theories as to why Elhokar stopped seeing the symbol headed people when Kaladin started protecting him? In WoK, I assumed he was seeing the same guys Shallan was seeing, meaning he has some KR powers. As far as I can tell, his powers still haven't manifested.

I personally always felt like the recreance happened because the KR were constantly called on to fight political battles similar to the wars Kalidin was fighting when he was first in Amaram's army like battles that served no purpose. I picture neither side being worthy of the KR so the KR decided to stop fighting. I even think it's possible the KR didn't realize what they were doing when they abandoned their shards and plate as in they didn't know they would be killing their spren. I have no evidence for this, this is just how I felt when I read the Dalinar vision in WoK.

I know other threads have discussed whether all Parshmen/Parshendi are going to all get made into evil red-eyed Parshendi, or if they can hide indoors to avoid it. My thought is they should be able to hide. But either way, I have an issue with the Alethi abandoning the Parshmen on the Shattered Plains. If the Parshmen can be kept from turning into red-eyed evil things, then shouldn't Alethi have stayed with them to guard them and make sure they don't go outside? If slave form Parshmen have almost no will, what will they do when abandoned? How will they eat? I'm assuming the soulcasters (main source of food) left with the Alethi to Uritheru, so what are the Parshmen going to eat if they stay non evil? If they are all going to turn into red-eyed evil things, then shouldn't the Alethi have killed all the Pashmen while they are still slave-like? They must be easier to kill than the red-eyed version.
