  1. We see early in the book that Wax mentions Steris wants another child. This statement might seem minor but considering what happens near the end of the book this could have major implications for Scadrial.

We know Max has been exposed to a small amount of Lerasium, which rewrites your spiritual DNA. While the size of Lerasium bead is relevant to the strength of the Mistborn, even a small amount is very likely to have a huge effect genetically. Decedents of people who where given a full bead by the Lord Ruler where able to have create Mistborn nearly 1000 years after the initial exposure, so even a tiny exposure is very likely to be significant for Wax's direct descendants.

Considering this, if Wax and Steris have that 3rd child like she wants, that child will have the strongest alomancy genetics in approximately 1300 years. It is very likely we could see full Mistborn in Era 3 because of this.

  2. It does seem like having a member of each order would be perfect. Plus if she is a Dustbringer that would make a flashback for each order. I think it is much more likely that she is one than isn't. The only question is how. It could all be possible that she will become one although I think it fits better if she already is one.

  3. It might be possible but I doubt it would be that simple.

Even if you switched your connection to a different location wouldn't that just move you even further spiritually from the geography that powered the investiture? I'm a little rusty on how Sel investiture works but I sel is a little weird compared to the other shardworlds.

Anyways, if there is a way to use Sel investiture on other planets (and i'm sure there is) then using some kind of Connection method does seem like it could be part of the trick.

  4. Currently, the Mistborn novels have had titles that generally relate to the main object/focus of the book. So we can speculate with fair certainty that the fourth installment of the Wax and wayne books I going to deal direct with The Lost Metal.

So what exactly is this lost metal going to be. There seems to be three answers that would make sense.

    1. Atium: An obvious choice but it has only been gone for around 300 years, which compared to the other two choices is a short time(although 300 is enough time for Atium geodes to have regrown if the Pits of Hathsin still exist in a functional way). Another question is if Atium even forms now that Ruin doesn't exist on his own.

    2. Lerasium: This is a truly lost metal since it has been nearly nonexistent since the Lord Ruler gained found it. It doesn't seem likely that Lerasium will be reintroduced.

    3. Ettmetal: This metal has been lost for a very long time. On top of that it hold the power for huge technological advances for the North, which is certainly a topic the book could focus on. My bet is on this for being the lost metal.

    4. Harmonium: I would include this in my likely metals but seeing as it has only existed for 300 years and nobody has ever even seen it there doesn't seem to be a lost aspect to it. It could still turn out to be this.

Anyone have different ideas on metals or the focus for the next book based of which metal is the lost metal?

  5. So fare we really have no idea what Hoid's motives are. He seems to be giving helpful tips to the protagonists around the Cosmere but I believe this is part of his larger motive. I think what he said in WoR might sum up his position well.

"And while I am your friend, please understand that our goals do not completely align. You must not trust yourself with me. If I have to watch this world crumble and burn to get what I need, I will do so. With tears, yes, but I would let it happen"

From this I think it is clear that Hoid is perfectly willing to do things that might be seen as evil. This might in the end be for the greater good, but I wouldn't be surprised if he does some questionable things in future books.

  6. It seems doubtful that there are any more normal metals since 16 is such a stressed number and because there have been no hints of more metals. Harmony even told Spook at the end of the first books that there were 2 undiscovered metals, cadmium and bendalloy, so there really isn’t a reason to think this fits in with the normal metals.

Whatever it is I doubt it’s normal. It seems more likely that ettmetal is either a god metal, an alloy, or something totally different.

  7. Judging power is sort of hard if we are judging the power of everything in the cosmer. What kind of power? Intelligence, knowledge, pure amount of investiture, ability to act. These are all very complex when we start looking at them.

Harmony probably is the strongest when considering he has 2 full shards but it has been said many times that it is hard for him to act becouse of his conflicting intent. Plus he his likely the most inexperienced of all the shards.

Odium on the other hand might only have 1 shard but has shown he is extremely powerful and intelligent.
He has killed 3 other shards that we know of and probably has held his shard since the shattering.

While Harmony's pure strength may be greater than Odium's, Odium's experience and alignment with his intent could be considered to make him stronger. Another thing to consider is if these two where ever to fight(which would be started by odium undoubtedly) odium would never fight directly against somebody obviously more physically stronger.

Just asking a blanket question," who would win in a fight," doesn't work for most characters or beings since their personal ways of fighting would have an effect on the battle. Kaladin for instance might fight you face to face while Kelseer would stab you in the back.

  8. It does seem pretty obvious that it is vin's earring. But will it still allow him to burn bronze? We have yet to see just how much hemalurgy degrades over time. It could be that after 400 years their is not enough remaining power to actually use. Maybe it will just allow communication like wax's previous earring.

  9. Yeah, he might be breaking the first ideal but it's kind of abstract. You could get different meanings from it, depending on how much of the ideal is your own view or that of the sprens although your probably right. I would love to know how close you have to be to the ideals to attract a spren or break an already existing bond.

  10. I was thinking that Taravangians goals seem in a way to fit with the bondsmiths ordeal. He is trying to unite all humanity. If bondsmiths do indeed each bond a "Godspren" then Taravangians might be the one bonded to the Odium spren, which would help account for his more twisted means of achieving unity. He is trying to save Roshar using sometimes evil means. This seems to be something a knight radiant bonded to an evil or destructive spren might do.

Not to sure about this just thought that I would get some opinions about it.

  11. As to the Herald thing, I think it comes from here. It's worth noting that the other Herald is referred to as "he" (and has a good chance of being Nalan) and that since this WoB Navani will no longer be having a flashback book, Renarin and Lift will, and other things may have changed as well.

    source

Okay thanks didn't noticed that it was refered to has "he"

Brandon has since WoR basically changed his mind on every character he ever said would be a flashback character for the Second Arc except for Jasnah. I have a feeling that the second Herald he said would be one will almost certainly not be one. If he doesn't change his mind yet again before the end of the series, I am of the belief that the unknown flashback character will be either Taravangian o Rysn. I lean toward Rysn more because if this character is a Dustbringer, I feel she fits more as one than Taravangian, given that the Divine Attributes of Chana are Brave and Obedient. These are certainly two characteristics we have seen Rysn exhibit fairly strongly, especially Bravery. Taravangian just doesn't fit as well under those.

So there will nolonger be a 2nd herald as a flashback character? I hadn't heard that.

So Taln, Lift, Renarin, and Jasnah are confirmed leaving Dustbringers.

It does seem most likely that Rysn, Mr T, or Adolin will be the Dustbringer although 5 Kholin flashbacks will probobly be to many (seems like they would start to overlap) so Rysn or Mr T seems a better choice. Out of those 2 Rysn seems to be a better fit for the Dustbringers, brave and obidiant and would make it 5 men and 5 women, which seems more likely than 6 men, 4 women. Travangian on the other hand would have very interesting flashbacks and would probobly be more interesting. We will probobly just have to wait for more information about Dustbringers.

  12. I believe Brandon has said that their will be a flashback from each order of nights radiant so from this we can extrapolate.

    1st set

    Kaladin - Windrunner 1

    Shalan - Lightweaber 2

    Szeth - Skybreaker 3

Eshoni - Willshapers 4 (unconfirmed but speculated willshaper)

    Dalanar - Bondsmith 5

2nd set (not in this order)

    Taln - Stonewards 6

    Lift - Edgedancers 7

    Jasnah - Elsecallers 8

    Renarin - Truthwatchers 9

Chanarach - Dustbringers 10 (unconfirmed but known to be a 2nd herald)

Although it is unconfirmed it has been speculated and i agree that Eshoni will be a willshaper leaving only the order of Dustbringers left for the 2nd herald making her Chanarach. This seems even more likely when you consider that we now have 5 male characters and 5 female characters just like the original heralds and how well Willshaper fits Eshoni who was called the Explorer on the back of the book.

Could someone link me to the quote where Brandon said there would be a book for each order I couldn't find it.

  13. You know the forum does have its own wiki that is a nice resource for refreshing yourself on various cosmere terms. There's an article on the Pahn Kahl.

    OMS(OH MY STORMFATHER) Their's a wiki! :o  clear.pngGuess I won't be needing those Copper Spikes. clear.png:wacko:

They're the tiny oppressed and forgettable people from Warbreaker. Bluefingers is one of them.

I quickly went from Forger to Soulcaster. Did I just decide to stop the encroaching nearsightedness, or was it laziness? The world may never know.

Those sneaky Pahn Kahl! Nobody ever notices or remembers them. They're like the Greymen of the Cosmere.

  14. Okay, now this is getting out of hand.

I don't even know what Pahn Kahl is, which is probably quite embarasing since I'm a Cosmere fanatic. :(

Now I either need to go find out what I am or give up reading these books and take up a mundane hobby like knitting instead. :( :( :(

  15. We're only looking out for your best interests. Knives and Eyes should never mix.

Well I'm an Inquisitor so, no eyes here, but for most people your probably right.

Unless of course, the knives happen to be hemalurgically charged :D

Besides @Inquisitor of Wit, you're safe from Kaladin's wrath for now - all spearmen are darkeyed. :)

I suppose your right most Spearmen are Darkeyes, except for Renarin and Kal kind of likes him.

Anyways I'm now an official Bridgeman so me and Kal are Friends. :)

I guess I'll still have to watch out for Kelsier he always has been judgmental with Inquisitors...
