  1. Shardplate... What is it goooood for- Absolutely NOOOOOOOTHING----- Sing it with me now!!!!!
  2. So far we know that lightweavers gain power from truths all through wor we have seen a trend with Shallan where she has gain the majority of power through self truths. With this trend I can only summaries that the Shallan/Kaladin plot line will be one used to strengthen Shallan as a radiant..... Just a wild theory mind you.
  3. I think it will be interesting to see how Jasnah reacts to the new Shallan and if she keeps pushing for her and Adolin to get married or reconsiders the need for it now that circumstances have shifted.
  4. The thing you have to watch out for here is the context of the wording. "One of them may redeem us. And one of them will destroy us." We infer destruction is bad but the over all outcome implied by destruction can mean more than the singular negative after all what might the destruction bring and what is the nature of the destruction.... Sry couldnt help myself on that one it just Bugs me
  5. There is another related point that I would like to make here it could be said that Shallan actions and counciling in the chasm became the turning point for Kaladin and resulted in Sils resurrection. I state this simply to illustrate the point that Shallan and Kaladin have more to give the story then just a romantic side plot. That and there banter is just pure entertainment.
  6. Sanderson apparently hinted at Adolin becoming a dustbringer at one of his book signing although he didn't give a definitive answer in either direction I don't really think he will be a dustbringer. Dustbringers are supposed to be "brave" and "obedient" don't really see him being either maybe in book one he was brave but by the end of Wor he just seemed more of an adrenaline junky looking for his next rush..... And I agree I think Adolins going to suffer from the fact that he's no longer needed to be the white knight and it's going to make him spiteful especially now the his brother is nolonger the weakest link.
  7. Chapter 77 (He grinned, Shardplate helm hanging from his saddle so as to not mess up his hair. She waited for him to add a quip to hers, but he didn’t. That was all right. She liked Adolin as he was. He was kind, noble, and genuine. It didn’t matter that he wasn’t brilliant or . . . or whatever else Kaladin was. She couldn’t even define it. So there. Passionate, with an intense, smoldering resolve. A leashed anger that he used, because he had dominated it. And a certain tempting arrogance. Not the haughty pride of a highlord. Instead, the secure, stable sense of determination that whispered that no matter who you were—or what you did—you could not hurt him. Could not change him. He was. Like the wind and rocks were. Shallan completely missed what Adolin said next. She blushed. “What was that?” “I said that Sebarial has a carriage. You might want to travel with him.” “Because I’m too delicate for riding?” Shallan said. “Did you miss that I walked back through the chasms in the middle of a highstorm?”) This scene isnt the only one that plays out like this infact Adolen and shallan just simply seem not to mix one because she cant be genuine around him and adolin becuse he just seems to be to thick headed and self involved to catch on to the fact. Chapter 89 (As Adolin walked the dark halls of Urithiru, he tried not to show how overwhelmed he felt. The world had just shifted, like a door on its hinges. A few days ago, his causal betrothal had been that of a powerful man to a relatively minor scion of a distant house. Now, Shallan might be the most important person in the world, and he was . . . What was he?) and as we see towards the end he finaly starts to think about there realtionship only thing is he's reconsidering it because now because he's feeling insucure about how he fits into it now...... ya
  8. Okay I've stared this thread to see what people think of the character developments so far by the end of Wor. So Kaladin wow I'll admit I was a little frustrated by him in parts but looking back in wor his journey was a necessary one. He had a alot of pent up frustration and unresolved issues eating away at him by the end of wok and I think we can safely say that he really needed to figure out and grasp his role and place in the grand scheme of things that's not to say he's done growing as a person not by a long shot but he's getting there. I think we can safely say that his going home in the next book will be an intriguing development especially when it comes to the place and people of his childhood and seeing there reactions especially that of his parents who I'm guessing probably think he's dead. Now for Shallan gotta say wasn't to rapped up in her character in wok but boy did wor bring out the inner deemed child lol. She went from meek to evil genius and that tongue and sparky humorous later on was just awesome. The flash backs where a little predictable but I got the feeling they where less about explaining her character and more about setting up and laying a foundation for future events dun dun duhhhhhhh. By the end of the book she was definitely more capable as a person however I got the feeling that she was still uncertain about who she was but I get the feeling that that well be worked out in the next instalment soon enough. Adolin hmmmmm wasn't to thrilled with his development I thought was a decent enough character in the last book if a little closeminded. I noticed that with the duels and increasing danger and ever increasing odds that his chapter has turned into a real adrenalin junky the arena and his decision to continue in the four on one bout demonstraighted this. I thought his questioning his place in his relationship with Shallan just before he went postal on Sadias was a little showing and worrying but I guess we will just have to wait and watch to see how he deals with his actions. Okay so Im curious as to your opinions of there developments so far and how you think it may impact there relationships in the future.... Thoughs??????
  9. I don't think anyone has comprehended the healing ability of the radiant it seems that by the end of the book we can infer that there healing ability goes so far as regrowing limbs. as long as there is stormlight to use then it doesn't seem that hard to imagine that as long as it's a normal knife and not a shard blade that a normal mortal wound could be healed. this means that even though she died for a time of the stormlight she had in or on her could possibly have brought her back. Just a theory.....
  10. This seems to be a common opinion and one that seems to make the most sense Adolin all through the series so far has demonstraighted a lack of compassion for those of the lower casts even Kaladin. It took what two or three life saving situations where Kaladin pulled his chull out of the fire for him to acknowledge him. Even then when he was in a cell protesting Kaladins imprisonment he lived in luxury in his cell with servants and still in communication with Shallan.... He really hasn't EVER learned the meaning of suffering or compassion and even at the end of Wor just before he murdered Sadias in a cold rage he's having second thoughts about his relationship with Shallan. now he knows she's a radiant and not just some ornament he's contemplating his place in the relationship since now as he put it she's one of the most important people in the world the fact that that's how he thinks tells you that he's uncoftable with his place in the relationship being flipped imagine his reaction to her past... Combine that to the way he reacted to Sadias and his handling of the situation hmmmmm not very promising.Relationship...... DOOMED DOOOOOOOMED I SAY¡!!!!!!
  11. The banter between Kaladin and Shallan I have to say was some of the best in the series right up there with Wits dialogue. So I can only say that them as a married couple would creat some of the most entertaining moments in the series as far as humour goes plus I can't help but draw attention to Kaladin comparisons between Shallan and his mother.... Also I can't help but feel there isn't really a need to for Shallan to marry Adolin since she now has the authority she requires or at least by the end or wor it seemed that way. So with that and in tandem with the fact that she's constantly playing a role with Adolin I really don't think that a relationship between the her and Adolin continuing would be fare to either of them. That and she and Kaladin seem to be able to balance one another emotionally just an observation from the events of the "chasm scene". Thoughts????
  12. Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 281018368 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 328272176 bytes) in Unknown on line 0 I did not state killing was wrong but rather the conditions under which it was carried out where wrong. Adolin for better or worse became the equivalent of an assassin in his act of killing. No one was around Sadias threatened however did not have the chance to carry out his threat there was noone to defend and as for Sadias crimes he seems to have been an indirect tool in helping bring the KR together. Remember the vision Dalinar has in the first book when he asks if he can trust Sadias and is told he will gain honour in doing so well we all know WHO honor is now don't we..... Kaladin. Not that that brings any justification Sadias was an chull however the past crimes have nothing to do with the action of Adolin's killing it the same for Kaladin even before he swore the third oath his compliance with the king's assassination would made him involved in the act not the reason reason has very little to do oaths it's the "nature" of the act that defines it.
  13. He said they would "applaud" him not "do the same thing" I belive the question posed was side step via word play lol that is itself is telling.
  14. I'm just going to state the obvious since alot of people seems not to understand the implied meaning of the first oath being the same for all KR "Life before Death" the choice to preserve life over death to be the defender instead of the attacker to attack without the need to defend is to be death the killing in the defence of one's self or others is to choose life. Adolin attacked Sadias and infact a surprise attack at that. With the intent to kill and succeeding this means he chose to bring death rather than life no matter past circumstances this means he cannot uphold the first oath which means he will not be made a KR because the storm father will ultimately refuse his first oath insighting this act as reason. Also is it just me or does the fact that Kaladin now has the honor blade of the wind runners the same one that was planted in the ground at the beginning of the first book the one that is wielded by the king of heralds kind of telling in the cases of what we can expect.......
  15. At the end of Words of radiant Adolin "murders" Sadias it's just a small thing but no radiant so far in the story has been a murderer and any killing by Shallan or Kaladin has always had an element of defence. Adolins killing of Sadias however was clearly cold blooded murder even if Sadias was a git.... This leads me to think that with WOR underlying theme for the first and third oaths Adolin won't be able to bond a Sprin In which case considering his nature could end up being rather interesting development when it comes to his relationships with the other characters especially the radiant ones. THOUGHTS????
  16. I've notice alot of people talking about this topic and it is interesting yet a rather obvious out come. 1. Shallan is a radiant and as much as she has talk to Alodin in wor she has never felt comfortable enough to open up with him in comparison to Kaladin in the chasm scene. 2. Alodin will never be a radiant why? He murdered Sadias and the first oath is always the same "life before death" and no matter how hateful Sadias was murder is still murder and so will never be able to bond a sprin. (don't belive me look for the trend in all cases all killing for Kaladin and Shallan their was an element of defence.) 3. Kaladin won't end up with Laral simple because he isn't who he used to be and if you've read both books you can infer the reasons why. So here's what will happen everyone around Adolin will become radiant and as per his immature streak will begin to resent Shallan and maybe even his brother and father. Shallan and Adolin will drift apart Kaladin will return more than likely with Laral and his parents and there will be a moment of revelation and the inevitable will occur.
