  1. Ya it definately wasn't murder. Or it was murder as much as any killing out of duty during war is. I really thought going into WOR that their could be a Jasnah/ Kaladin thing, but after "that smile" Shallan made after telling her story to Kaladin. I was sold. I for one enjoy romantic/ sexual tension in books like this. It adds another human element to these fantasy worlds. I love that it has become a thing to talk or argue about this though. Haha....
  2. I like your points Argent. I do think they probably are made from, if not are, an ancient form of fabrial. Tor had a good reread of the chapter in WOK that talks about the "glowing armor" that the radiants had at their time. "Now the Knights Radiant bring up some questions outside of what they have to say. Namely, the fact that having the blades and plate doesn’t seem to effect them the same as they do in Dalinar’s time. First it glows which is easiest to explain since they are channeling Stormlight—which modern wearers don’t do—and also they seem to be able to make their helmets appear and disappear at will, which is handy trick. " http://www.tor.com/blogs/2013/07/the-way-of-kings-reread-chapters-19-and-20 I think Kaladin will get shardplate eventually and be like the Radiant in the above chapter. I hope at least.
  3. Haha, I like the Lopen imagery.WoR spoilers
  4. I think you are right in regards to the Almighty giving the honorblades. My follow up thought then is, did the original Radiants have the power/ bond that Kaladin has with Syl at any point? Meaning before or after they became "Radiants" or received the honorblades did they also have the bond of a spren and master? Or where they just "Radiants" because of the honorblades? Sort of a side note: when Dalinar had some of his original dreams during the highstorms (in WOK) during one of them (when he fought the crazy monsters with a fire poker) he said that the Shardplate the Radiant had was glowing differently than current shardplate. Do any of you know anything more about that? Or even remember that?
  5. That makes so much sense now! I thought he was using "Dust" as some obscure curse, but with all this in context it fits perfectly. I am really excited to see how many people are world hoping. SPOILER I hope Jasnah is able to world hop now based on what happened at the end of WOR.
  6. I think he is talking about how Sanderson likes their to be checks and balances to his magic in his worlds. As a misborn you can do anything.... as long as you have the metals for it. As a Windrunner you can do anything...... as long as you have the Stormlight for it. They are a resourced based magic system. I love it. I think its the whole Spiderman quote "with great power comes great responsibility" I theorize that wind runners are more powerful as they continue to obtain their ideals compared to the other Radiants. However, I think it is morally a lot harder to stay true to that power and use it "honorably." That is at least how I hope it is.
  7. I became a Shaladin-er when Kaladin (he's my boy) was in the chasm with Shallan and she is telling him about all the crap in her life and she smiles. It blows him away and it blew me away. I got so excited at that point. I think many pairs could work, there is no "the one" in anyone's life, however, I do think there are people that you fit better with than others and for Kaladin she is the best for him so far in his life. I hope it is a many book thing though. I hope it takes along time and tons of heartbreak as they find out about each-others past and Shallan finds out about Kaladin killing her brother. I love that kind of stuff. Haha....
  8. Hello everyone! I am excited to find the Sanderson universe (Cosmere) has a vibrant forum. I have meant to get involved for awhile now, but I am finally graduating from BYU and have much more free time on the horizon. I am curious, how did you all first hear about about Brandon Sanderson's books? I was an avid Wheel of Timer and I had written off the Wheel of Time when Robert Jordan died. I was skeptical of whoever they would choose to finish the series. I decided to read some of Brandon's books before the Gathering Storm came out and I was blown away. I have always loved character development in fiction and Brandon is by far the best at creating amazing full characters and placing them believably in fantastic new worlds. Robert Jordan, R.I.P, but Brandon is by far my favorite author to date. I am excited to be here and continue to enjoy these great worlds with you all. Thanks!
  9. I think Paradox's page 3 "article" was spot on. Kaladin and Shallan (although I didn't want to admit it) have real potential where Adolin and Shallan do not. I also don't think there will be a love triangle, or if there is it will be short lived. I hope/ think Adolin will find someone that is hard for him to handle. Most of Shallan's and Adolin's interactions have been her pleasing him or attempting to use him in some way. If you compare that with the interactions with Kaladin, there really is no question in my mind that Kal/Shal will happen. As I mentioned earlier I could see Adolin finding someone not of noble birth and falling for her etc. Also people keep mentioning all the hardships Kal and Shal will have to go through (Kal killing Shal's brother, opposite spren etc) I think those things will not only bring them closer as they overcome them, but be exciting writing points in the story. After the WOK I thought a Jasnah/ Kaladin thing could happen, but I am pretty confident Kal and Shal will make all kinds of awesome Radiant babies.
  10. I figure if you haven't read the newest book of Brandon's and you come to a forum and sub thread like this you deserve to have things spoiled. Anyways, If you think about the level of power Kaladin is at by the end of WOR (which is not even close to the height of his power) and how an honorblade (which anyone can use essentially) gives Szeth similar power I would define that as orders of magnitude greater than a "shardblade." Having said that I don't think Kaladin's blade (aka Syl) is a shardblade or an honorblade, but a spren bound to her master. I think a Radiant or the equivalent are something else. I am curious of the purpose of the honorblades if the Radiants could do what Kaladin now can.
