You are right. How I phrased that did not actually communicate what I meant. What I meant is that the nightwatcher did grant Mr.T the opportunity to save a certain population from annihilation. However, there are more honorable and successful ways of saving more people if not the majority. Meaning the nightwatcher and the Diagram are correct, but on a lower scale. Sort of like the good, better, and best metaphor. The Diagram is an okay way of saving some people, but their is a best way, and the new "Knights Radiants" will find that way. (Hopefully....)

Who is the best character?
Carlos Stormblessed replied to freezedragon's topic in Stormlight Archive
Yes it is. I did not create the art, (Found it online) but I did make the signature and such. I love them. I actually teared up. My favorite part so far for sure. -
I really like this. I think it makes sense and fits with my previous thoughts. I really think Shardplate comes from spren in some way. I think the spren creates it, but is not necessarily it like the blade.

I think you are right.

Like has been said before most likely he has children that were not mentioned that are in the camp or that are back at his kingdom. Also, maybe they couldn't have kids. Maybe they didn't want kids. Sadeas really wasn't in the book much anyways. So I don't see much of a need for mentioning his heirs.

Can I get the info you have on Brandon implying Adolin's future as a Dustbringer? I have heard that mentioned before but never read it myself. I think you can argue Adolin is broken in a number of ways. Maybe not as bad as Shallan or Kaladin, but he lost his mother, had to fight in a meaningless war, for a time thought his father was going crazy, and finally murdered a man in cold blood. I think you could argue for "broken." I do agree that it would be hard on Adolin for Shallan to choose Kaladin and Kaladin Shallan. It could push him over the edge for sure.

Newbie to fan forums but not Brandon - Hi
Carlos Stormblessed replied to twilt's topic in Introduce Yourself!
I'm new myself, but welcome. This is a better forum then most for sure. -
Official means its been recognized by Sanderson, so basically the best. I suggest staying out of the Stormlight Chronicles sub forum until you are done with WOR. There are spoilers everywhere. Welcome!
-
Good luck in finishing and continuing school! and welcome. I hate the wait too, but Sanderson writes like lightning so its the best of a bad situation at least.

I don't think you can find a better magic system creator than Sanderson, for sure. Welcome!

I am one of those in the boat of "shardplate comes from or is spren." My reasoning is mostly based on shardplates interaction with shardblades. When a shardblade cuts a substance that is not alive it cuts through it like a knife through Styrofoam or similar substance. However, if you hit shardplate with a shardblade it is as if it is a regular blade. My theory is not that shardplate is literally a spren, but is a byproduct of some kind from spren. Maybe a spren created it for its master, but does not actually become the armor for its master. When the spren was alive and bonded it could fix the armor, however, now that the spren is dead or the bond is broken they use fabrials and stormlight to fix the plate. Again if shardplate was not the same substance as shardblades I think they would interact differently. Thoughts? Any holes in the theory?

Stormlight archive Tv/Movie series
Carlos Stormblessed replied to Zionite's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think these are fun to think about, but I would be so so so sad if they made this a tv/movie. I just don't think society can handle something on this scale. I mean the Lord of the Rings movies are huge and epic and really long (I love them) for most people and the Way of Kings alone dwarfs it. "Don't do it!" I empathically send into the minds of any possible future producers of this venture..... -
Who is the best character?
Carlos Stormblessed replied to freezedragon's topic in Stormlight Archive
This should have been a poll..... Sylphrenia / Kaladin combo is what keeps me coming back for more. I also love Hoid and Lopen. Everyone else is awesome, but a little predictable for me sometimes. -
I agree with your thoughts. I think the biggest reason I hope for Shalladin is it makes you take a step back and realize that although "the end of the world" is possibly happening for them human emotion and relationships not only still continue, but are the reason for the fight in the first place. The whole reason Kaladin is a Windrunner is because he has something to protect. Protect the beauty and power of those you love is why everyone fights. Friends, family, countrymen, and lovers. Without these powerful and exciting emotions you miss out on so much. Haha, my hidden wish will always be Syl and Kaladin though. Sort of like in Hook (Peter Pan) with Tinkerbells love for Peter. The similarities are to strong to ignore. I know it won't happen, but my favorite line in WOK and WOR has been: "I CLAIM HIM!" screamed at the stormfather. It made me cry, haha.....

Is Adolin going bad?(spoiler)
Carlos Stormblessed replied to lopenscousin's topic in Stormlight Archive
I have been talking about Adolin quite a bit with some friends and I do think Adolin will become a Radiant of sorts, but one bound to the spren of Odium or a Hatebound. I think there are three strong options for Adolin's character so far: (Sidenote, obviously Sanderson could have a different plan but I believe these are the best options based on what has been written so far) Option 1: (Least likely) Adolin stays the son of a high prince for most of the series and adds slightly to the story while not being a major character. Option 2: Dalinar steps down as a highprince to focus on leading the Radiants and Adolin takes his place as highprince and leads the armies in some big battles and such. (In either option 1 or 2 Adolin could marry or not marry Shallan) Option 3: I don't know how likely this option is, but I unfortunately hope it happens Adolin becomes troubled from murdering/killing Sadeas. Adolin becomes confused at the state of the world and his place in it. Now useless, where he was previously powerful. Adolin becomes envious of Renarin, Shallan, Dalinar, and Kaladins powers and position as Radiants. Adolin becomes jealous of Shallan and Kaladin's romance that starts to flourish and Shallan's denial of his affections for Kaladin. Adolin will have started to become friends with Kaladin and feel betrayed that he is "taking his girl" These possibilities and more all combine to tempt Adolin to hate all of those involved and in his anger bind a hatespren (from Odium) and become a hatebound. Its a tragic tale, but it seems like the most interesting character that Adolin could become. Like I said before, this is all conjecture, but I doubt the killing of Sadeas was just to get Sadeas out of the way. I believe it was used as a foreshadowing of who Adolin will/ can become. Did I miss anything? Go read the epilogue. Like right now. For reals. -

Seattle signing: RENARIN WILL HAVE A BOOK!
Carlos Stormblessed replied to JamHeretic's topic in Stormlight Archive
Where did you find out Eshonai will have her own book? Also couldn't Brandon have some characters share a book? For example Renarin and Eshonai? I don't see them being strong enough characters (so far) to carry their own books individually. Do we know much about how and why Dalinar lost his memories of her? I remember something of it in the WOK. -

Haha, that would be the worst. Usually in these epic fantasy series there is so much end of the world stuff happening that there is no time for kids of the main characters or anything. I hope for some Shaladin babies before the last book. Weird, but whatever.

This is exactly what I was thinking. I think Kaladin will toy with telling her for most of the book, during the brief meets they have as they are at different parts of the world. Then when he finally goes to tell her she will confront him with it having found out on her own and will break up whatever "relationship" they have at that point. Also dhazellouise, that earlier thesis, I mean, post you wrote was amazing! You did your research. Haha!
