  1. I agree with you. Nathan Fillion as Kelsier, Sommer Glau as Vin. Famke Jansen (sp?) as Shan Elariel. Benedict Cumberbatch as TLR, because eyebrow acting skills. Robert Downey, Jr. would make a good Hoid, actually. And I wouldn't mind seeing him as Straff Venture, either. He could definitely do that kind of evil. Idris Elba or Christian Bale could play Sazed. Watch Bale in "The Mechanic" if you think that Batman's too muscly to be Saze.
  2. I have to say that Renarin is a LOT like me. He's intelligent, a geek, seems to have mild ADHD, and suffers from a poorly-understood disorder that causes moderate to severe seizures. I personally hope that Brandon writes Renarin as having Tourette's Syndrome. I'll admit that I'm biased, as I have severe TS, which causes issues for me in certain situations of extreme emotional and physical stress. But it'd be a cool explanation. Plus, it's a congenital neurological disorder. Fits the criteria...
  3. Yeah, I saw. Found 3-5 by pure chance. Now I'm trying to use my patchy Interwebs access to figure out 6...
  4. Thanks! Working on the Shardhunt. Stuck on hint #3 for over 4 hours now. 1 and 2 were easy (1 was quite clever, I thought), but 3 is a doozy.
  5. Thanks for the help! Yeah, I've read Rithmatist, Hope of Elantris, and at least one of his other shorts; don't remember which. It was the one with Jason from the Phone Company. I know the basics of the Cosmere (Adonalsium, Shards, Hoid, Investiture, et cetera), but my information is from the published stuff and the annotations on Brandon's website only. I've been surfing the Coppermind and found that I was, in fact, right about a couple of hypotheses--and dead wrong about others. I discovered this site while surfing Brandon's website; I actually clicked the wrong button. Ended up here. Got lost in the forums. Decided to make an account to contribute, and maybe try the Steelhunt.
  6. Does Hoid believe that Shards are the most powerful thing? BRANDON SANDERSON You'll have to ask him sometime. [gives troll grin]. Or see him get asked something like that sometime. There's argument to be made that right now Harmony is the most powerful thing in the Cosmere. What if Hoid is the one who broke Adonalsium? I.E. he was pissed off at Adonalsium for whatever reason, figured out how to break a god (despite being a much lower-power being himself), and then realized afterwards that he royally screwed up? That leaves Sazed as the most powerful being in the Cosmere, and Hoid as the answer to the questions in the first quote.
  7. I'd be a double gold Twinborn. Appropriate precautions could make a gold compounder literally invincible. Miles only lost because (A) he got caught by a cadmium-burner he wasn't aware of and (B ) his mooks were unable to take out Wayne early on. If Tarson or Clamps had gotten a headshot on Wayne early on in the fight, Miles probably would've won.
  8. Hello! I'm GroundPetrel, and a massive Brandon Sanderson fan. I first discovered Brandon's work while surfing TVTropes, of all places, and decided to go try out Warbreaker. Three hours later, I begged my mother to get me Elantris. One week of waiting, three hours of obsessive reading waaaaaaaaay after my bedtime, and one utterly blown mind later, I decided that I absolutely needed to get Mistborn and The Way of Kings. You can probably guess my reactions to those. So now I'm obsessing about Words of Radiance. My current favorite Brandon book is Steelheart (I have a signed copy!), and my favorite Brandon protagonist is Kaladin, because awesome, followed by Vin and Kelsier. My favorite Brandon villain is Steelheart, followed by Dilaf and Ruin. If I had the chance to date a Brandon character, I'd go with either Megan (even though she's also Firefight) or Sarene (because I have bad ADHD and a woman like her would be really good for me). My most burning question is: If a Skimmer were filling iron as much as possible, and were Surgebound by a Windrunner in some random direction, would the decreased weight from filling an ironmind have any effect on the Lashing's effects? Also, could Shardplate stand up to one of Raoden's energy blasts (using Aon Daa)?
