  1. Hey folks!

I like many, missed out on the ability to get a Signed Wind and truth copy. Which saddens me greatly as I have all the rest signed.

Today on light day I was able to snag a signed and numbered BOM. If I was trying to find a place to do a trade with someone where would yall recommend to go ? I dont want to come off scammy or be scammed myself. Any ideas ?

I've noticed them as well. The thing is, they only appear on those two maps. If my memory is correct, the annotations on the map of Thaylen city is meant to Jasnah's and I think the map of the palace in Kholinar is hers as well. The symbol looks a bit like the glyph on the cover of Edgedancer but it's not exactly the same.

If I remember correctly the map maker issak is the royal cartographer of the alethi throne, so both theylen city maps and kohlinar maps make sense, the annotations on the map are navani's but the map itself would still be issak. I'll try to decipher it from the glyph key in oathbringer

  3. So this is an Idea that has been bouncing around since my first read through, and is heavily influenced by

    Spoiler

Gyl's , the Kolinar oathgates, and general spren corruption/enlightening

To start we know spren are bits of power, shaped by the cognitive definitions of physical realm inhabitants ( human, listeners, etc)

For the sake of this idea i will only focus on true spren ( bond capable spren) These spren are made from a combination of Honor and Cultivations power. Some are more honor, some are more cultivation.

Now with the Advent of the everstorm It seems Odium has greater ability to effect/ invest in Roshar. So his generals/unmade may all be made more powerful due to this advent. So Sja-Anat can now effect greater spren, spren with more investure.

So here is the question/ what i am thinking. Sja-Anat makes a connection between a spren and Odium, inserting his investiture into the touched spren.

In the case of true spren, does the touch of Sja-Anat insert odium investitures such that they are formed from the power of three shards, or does it replace the investiture of one of the shards, or both?

I can think of a number of questions id want to ask Brandon to see if we can start teasing this out, what does the shard think about this ?

  4. I gotta say I loved Oathbringer, but for me its huge moments hit me hard on the melancholy side of things, rather than some of the awesome highs of Words of Radiance.

Oathbringer was deep, opened up hard subjects without concrete answers and was written, and approached beautifully, where its words hit hard they evoked sadness, worry, and gasps of disbelief. Some of the bridge 4 chapters made me cry.

But I cant think of any chapters ( other than Kal coming back to hearthstone) that made me shake with excitement like Words of Radiance did.

Oathbringer was very much a different book than I expected and that makes me quite excited for the future of this series :)

  5. I havent seen it in the few posts i read of this thread but it seemed really clear to me when listening to this bit that Eshonia WAS the comet like spren.

The voidspren say they listen to the listeners ancestors

    They have gemhearts, storage Check

They can a mind that shapes themselves in the cognitive realm, check

They can obsorb investiture from highstorms, (maybe check ?)

Equals the making of a spren

    Dead listeners turn into spren

  6. Like I said earlier your mileage may vary on how you feel about it. But several of the teasers are things im going to be looking for now, rather than being surprised by had i read it through without. Not saying its ruined or anything, Just feels a lot more spoilery than i wanted when reading spoiler free in the the article title. (shrug)

I am going to very much enjoy going through this list after ive read it, but going into it i felt the teasers will do my reading experience more harm than heightening the experience for me.

  7. Hi Sharders,

Just a word of warning if you see the Tor spoiler free beta reader review. Id highly recommend not reading it if you want to stay spoiler free/ not torture yourself anymore than necessary before the release.

While the teases the beta readers list would be fun, i feel that they give away far to much. YMMV but just a word of warning from someone who wished he hadnt read it.

if you do choose to read it you can find the link in the spoiler tag below.

  10. It may be pedantic but the difference between spren bonding, and voidspren fusing I think is significant!

Of course it probably has to do with the parshmen's connection to the cognitive realm, but still!

    Fusing....

It opens up a lot more ideas,

And voidlight, where is its source of investiture coming from!!!

It would depend highly on where the symbols are placed relative to each other.

Im not sure what your referring to.

I was commenting on the passage below

    Quote

A solitary figure hovering above the ground before a large blue disc, arms stretched to the side as if to embrace it. Depictions of the Almighty in his traditional form as a cloud bursting with energy and light. A woman in the shape of a tree, hands spreading toward the sky and becoming branches. Who would have thought to find pagan symbols in the home of the Knights Radiant?

    Nothing about symbols there?

If you have that WOB I'd like to see it because I've never heard that before, and I'm doubtful about the whole one desolation per Gerald thing until I do see it. And you are right about there being uncertainty, though I was addressing the idea that all the unmade came into being post oathpact.

As was pointed out to me by @Overlord Jebus, Vorinism says there are 99 desolations, Brandon has said their was less. We should take the 9 desolations theory with a grain of salt till we see differently
