  1. Well, we don't know if the honorspren are a voluntary thing, but it's probable that the Heralds are the result of such a thing. Well, but think about those two facts: There were honourspren before the Almighty died. There were honourspren before that the formation of the Knight's radient. My theory the following - only honourspren can archive sentience -Honourspren used to be sentient through their bond to the almighty. -After the almighty died, they remained sentient through the bond to their human partner. -After the Knights radiant deserted, they gave up the bonds to their spren, dooming them to mindlessness. -All other spren are remains of the almighty AFTER his conciousness was destroyed.
  2. The Source of storms is the body of the almighty that -like a vulcano- periodically (but not regularly) releases energy in the form of Highstorms whose essence is the Stormlight.
  3. I'm almost positive that The Old Magic carries that adjective because it pre-dates the Almighty's arrival on Roshar, or at least the creation of humanity. Other than that, it would be the Elantrians that visit the fishing village. BTW, AonDor seems to be almost as versatile as the One Power in the Age of Legends, just not as strong or fast.
  4. Something tells me that it'll be in some Sazed-forsaken corner of the world (what was its name again?) and that we'll not see *any* of the characters from the books. But hey, that's al right with me. BTW, do they ever say if there are other continents apart from the one on which the Final Empire is situated? That is one of the things I forgot.
  5. Oh, we know that a god of the cosmere can voluntarily split off a part of their power to give mortals magical abilities (See the Returned or the Honour spren)
  6. A library was moving and giving away some of their damaged books for free. One was The Shadow Rising, the other one of the Books in the Dranai series by David Gemmel. After reading that, I joined the now defunct wotmania boards and spent a lot of my online time there (mainly lurking, so I doubt you've heard of me). It was there I learned that WoT would be continued by Brandon Sanderson, so I started reading. Yea, here I am.
  7. You positive about that one? I could swear the deal was that they would create, and Ruin could one day destroy it all. Preservation broke the deal by sacrificing part of himself to trap Ruin. I'm almost positive that creating sentience was something Preservation did in the hope that humans would one day be able to destroy Ruin. That's how I understood it as well.
  8. Is the theory that the drunk man Szeth met was Talanel still being considered by this honourable circle?
  9. It happened like this -Laras: I'm bored. -Ati: I'm not; shut your face. -silence- -Laras: You're the embodiment of destruction, right? -Ati: I won't get--Yes, I am, what about it? -Laras: I want to see living things again, Ati, I want to see more than this wretched piece of rock. -Ati: Very poetic. And? -Laras: What good is a destroyer without anything to destroy? Help me, and I promise you that one day I will one day let you return it all to dust. ...and the rest is history.
  10. Yes, thank you big-big!
  11. Yea, but those were the most unbalanced shards we've seen so far. Even hate can be a motivation for invention. The desire to keep the Universe in stasis [read: preserve it] is poison to new ideas or experiments.
  12. All is good, thankee sai. Long days and pleasant nights. When will TWG come up again? Otherwsie I might be forced to lobby for a writing group on here. xD
  13. I like the works of Daniel Keys Moran for some reason. Unfortunatly he is an extremly slow writer. They're free to read and download here http://www.immunitysec.com/resources-dkm.shtml Hmm, what else can I reccomenend. Trudi Canavan's The Age of the Five trilogy was interesting.
  14. A Shardholder can create life, but for some reason we haven't yet seen any sentient non-humans that where originally created by the planet's deity. Gaining a shard gives one a type of omnipresence, and an awareness of the holder's star-system, but at least new holders can't focus on absolutely everything at the same time. Holding a shard (or two) does not grant one ultimate wisdom in regards to the best use of one's powers, as seen when Sazed needed to absorb the knowledge from his copperminds in order to bring the planet [Scadrial, right?] into an optimal orbit. What else have you gathered?
  15. You are too kind. *bows*
  16. So, if there is a Dula, then can we safely assume that he is an Elantrian since many of them have some Elantrian blood in them?
  17. AonDor is the only system that can "directly" hurt living things. I'm not sure if this is significant. Well, unless you're a hero-level Allomancer, but those are exceptions that prove the rule.

I think Awakening is one of most expensive systems of magic ever devised (definetly the most expensive in all of EUOL's books). ;D
  19. Just trying to bring out more ideas. @Squallor It's not *entirely* random. You need to have the right genetic potential passed on by blood, otherwise you are immune to being turned. I think the original elantrians created AonDor because they wanted to avoid the minute-long rituals of the Jindo.
  20. Hoid, gods and 'true' soull-casters re-weave reality itself by way of shadesmar whereas most other magic works on a less fundamental level, tranferring power or enhancing physical traits.
  21. I thought that was almost accepted doctrine?!
  22. It sounds like something from Dungeons % Dragons. *shrug*
  23. Hey there erongal!
  24. I'm almost certain that Shallan didn't actually vanish in the physical realm while in Shadesmar. More likely she used the Cosmere equivalent of Astral projection to perceive reality on another level. Doesn't mean you won't be just as dead if your mind gets torn into billions of tiny little pieces. See also http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panpsychism The remainder of the Almighty's power. Highstorms send out his visions, so it makes sense. Of course, it could also be that cultivation sent them out to receptive humans to fulfil his dying wish... :/
  25. Yeaaa, noticed that too Well, in the prologue we have the same "actual magic happens and gets dismissed as a trick of the light by onlookers"-situation, so why not again? I'd like to be believe that it was like he perceived it and the armour itself temporarily got some of its previous power back.
