  1. I'll hold on to this belief, Delightful. It will reach us eventually. *sigh* And I'll probably withdraw from 17thshard after March 4th for a week or so because I will just die with envy at what everyone else will be saying after reading it.
  2. Six months after I left my previous job, I found out that one of my former officemates was one, liking a post I made on Facebook about WoT and asking me about my take on Sanderson's ending. I also saw a Mistborn book held by a teacher in a talk I conducted...and so I proceeded to chat with that man after the conference.
  3. Whew, that's a relief, thanks.
  4. Nah, it's just for me. I will feel awful if I sell it, especially to someone who doesn't know what it represents. I attend lots of parties and functions and almost want to get a dress designed to complement the jewelry, not the other way around. Do you think I'm infringing on anything here? I wouldn't want to violate any copyrights.
  5. I got excited looking at these glyphs and being the beach bum that I am will be getting henna tattoos of a different one for every beach trip. Thank you, they're really awesome! Me and a jewelry designer friend are also beginning to craft pendants based on the allomancy chart. An awesome project to undertake this year.
  6. Unfortunately the SARMsung ones does lag. I did get the new HP and Acer from Google, and the Acer one has pretty good performance...much better than the Samsung. Overall an easy non-stressful laptop to live with.
  7. Actually, you're right. I'm so used to the OS not looking like Linux that I forget the the shell IS Linux. They're good if you want something light, cool, and cheap with an amazing battery life. I have one that is a year old but still runs for 7 hours. And yes, you're going to have to get used to everything being online when using it, which for me wasn't such a change. It's not for everyone.
  8. I never lend a book and expect it to be returned, so it's always a gift. Books that I love are kept in my bedroom, to discourage "borrowing". Books that I can give away are often kept in the living room, where visitors can see, and they can borrow/take whatever they want. I always welcome this since it's hard to find space for them, and I would rather that they find a new home. Sanderson is of course, bedroom-material. Ahm...that sounded kinda weird.
  9. Not a problem, Marilis, it's my third language, in fact. Welcome. And Spain is so lovely, I hope to travel there soon. *Groan* Thank the Lord Ruler you didn't pull this joke on me, being from a country of 7000 islands.
  10. What a great suggestion! I have read tWoT many times but never in audiobook form. It should be a good way for me and the books to get reacquainted (in the interest of occupying time while waiting for WoR.) On topic, it would honestly be a shame for you to stop reading now. Although tEotW has its flaws, it does serve to set the scene for a great epic. There are just too many goodies awaiting you in the next books, that even if you find it a trial to read through the first book now, it would be worth it to go on. Books 4-6 in particular are pretty good, outside of the final three.
  11. Welcome and congratulations on choosing WoK! I'm new here but share the same impatient, almost-going-crazy attitude as everyone else waiting for WoR. We can't be all as lucky as those getting it by March 4th.
  12. When your staff complains of a nearly impossible project, and you say, "go to the board and start breaking it down into a manageable list", and wonder how easier things could be if you had Kelsier's crew. When you use your signature stamp, wait a few moments to see if anything changes, and then sigh in frustration when nothing does. Edit: When you celebrate Chinese New Year wearing Lightsong's colors.
  13. Hey akasketch, like in any new home, we have to learn the house rules first. I'm also new here and I've found members to be particularly helpful, so I'll pay it forward. The rules are very well laid out and organized in a way that would allow any fledgling member to find stuff quickly and share thoughts without offending. It also gives you the basics and advanced capabilities of the site, so be sure to browse through it and you'll find your questions above, answered. Ah and you're welcome.
  14. Or in my case, till the sun comes up. Welcome!
  15. I actually sang it to the tune of Rock a Bye Baby, and it fit..errr..kind of. Fixing a new tune to it would be near impossible now! I hope Delightful has reached Second Heightening before she started singing. :-)
  16. Funny how we define "cool" when we're younger. I say cool is whatever makes you deliriously passionate and happy. There, there..stop sniffling. You're home.
  17. My choice is Chrome, and it's not in the list. I have a Surface Pro that I barely use and do my best work online anyway, so I tend to just use the Chromebook for it.
  18. Why be so end-negative? The surge of good humor you get from a spiked drink will be worth it. You should try it sometime. Be courageous enough to snap.
  19. Welcome! It's always good to be able to revisit something you were so passionate about long back, and finding you still feel the same way years later. There's no point being embarrassed about things you did then due to said passion. There's no point in growing up at all if it means you're not allowed to be childish once in a while. Or maybe I should rephrase that to childlike.
  20. If it helps to assuage your guilt, then erase all memory of me.

  21. Darkness within! All these characters take the name of their God in vain.

  22. What in Preservation's name is a ninja count?
  23. Thank you for the welcome. There were times in the WoT when the plot became too muddled and political, and Sanderson brought it back into focus. Stick with it, and it will reveal unexpected twists and twinges of pleasure. From Sanderson to Jordan, you might not find yourself quivering with excitement, but revealing the big picture will be totally worth it.
  24. It has always been my username, even during my spymac forum days. (OMG that was so long ago) There is value in being underestimated, but the contradiction that you offer opens you up to fame. This dilemma seems to occur in a lot of the characters in the Sanderson books, too - Lightsong, Vin, Steelslayer - the average-looking rusty cog, that when polished reveals something precious. Interesting.
  25. Thanks skaa, I did lurk for a while scouting the scene. I'm sure to enjoy the forums now that I can get some sense where things are stored. I'm not Syl that I can weed out where things are with ease. I don't know about others, but when I call you by your name, skaa, I can't help feeling a sense of superiority. It's wrong, but the feeling is there.
