Why should each metal get its own entry but not each surge? That doesn't make any sense.
-
If he's not just a squire, I think the Lopen would make a great Skybreaker or Dustbringer. He is incredibly confidant and brave.
-
So Hoid claims that Lightweaving on Roshar is close to the Yolish "original". Does that mean that other Cosmere magics are descendants of the magic from Yol? What do you guys think?
-
We should at least update the wiki with the Surges that Words of Radiance defines and combine that with the labels that Brandon confirmed. Bondsmiths having the Surges of Adhesion and Tension, for example. EDIT: If it matters I also vote for organization by Surges, with appropriate links, and also organization by Orders, the same.

Szeth's Unique Aquisition (SPOILERS!!!!!!)
Quazar87 replied to Swimmingly's topic in Stormlight Archive
Zahel says that the Purelake reminds him of his home. Does he mean the mild climate? If he meant the constant shallow water than I think we can rule out his being from Nalthis. The colors thing though... I don't remember the Nalthians speaking like that in Warbreaker. Though they are obviously obsessed with color. Hmmm. -
So an aluminum ferring would be a bit like an aluminum misting? A leecher? I like it.

We should keep in mind that it was NOT his realization of Ruin's manipulation of religion and legend that suddenly turned Sazed into an atheist. It was Tindwyl's death and his inability to find comfort in any of his accumulated faiths. Their rituals and principles held nothing for him. That's what Sazed sought from faith. Not knowledge of powerful extra-Scadrial beings, but comfort in hoping and believing. You can't hope in Ruin. There's no comfort there. As to the definition of a deity... would you say that Star Trek's Q are gods, Moogle? Do you find the captains of starfleet incomprehensible when they refuse to worship them?
-
Do any of Sazed's gathered religions postulate many gods screwing around with humans? I just reread Mistborn and I don't remember any like that. I'm reading Well of Ascension now but nothing so far. Why should Sazed assume that a power entity manipulating religion was a god, when he has no examples like that?
-
What could beings bound by time and death ever do to become deities? Nothing, obviously. Who cares what they made or for what reason?
-
Ruin is a massively powerful extra-Scadrial entity. He's no more a god than Q. None of the shards are. I would certainly never worship any of them, though I would give Harmony my alligience.

Will we see interplanetar/lunar travel in future books?

So you are saying that when szeth lashes to the sky, what he is really doing is lashing to space dust? Just without knowing the specifics? Sounds plausible. -
That reminds me of shardplate. Maybe if you regrew the bloodmaker from his arm the original one would die.
-
So his body would instinctively burn the feruchemical gold and regrow his head? But a new head equals a new person... I suppose the cosmere is different with its cognitive realm and such.
-
What's the general understanding here? Has Brandon talked about how that was possible or whether he and his ministry were spreading propaganda?
-
It says as if.

I assumed it was the known light eye practice of soul casting their dead.

What makes us believe that Cusicesh is actually a spren?
Quazar87 replied to JamHeretic's topic in Stormlight Archive
That's a really good theory. -
Is Renarin the Loki of the Stormlight Archive? Edit: I don't mean in the evil sense, but in the younger more sensitive brother who the ladies on tumblr love.

Are we sure that Brandon doesn't just consider Soulcasting to be the other 10? It does use 10 different gems to do 10 different things.

Are we any farther on constructing a timeline that captures each setting so far and tries to relate them? Are we far enough along in the cosmere to figure a little of that out? I checked the Coppermind Chronology, but it seems pretty bare.

Is there an official explanation for the discrepancy? If you include the god metals, Larascium and Atium, then the number of metals is 18, not 16. Yet one of the key plotpoints of the final book is that 1/16th of the Snapped were Atium Mistings. It doesn't add up.

Sanderson doesn't seem the type to troll, though I think there are many reasons to think that the letter is addressed to Sazed. He says that the recipient "saw what happened" to Ati, the holder of Ruin. He also suggests that the recipient was once mortal, but is no longer. Still, he directly calls him an "old reptile". That raises a question... was the dragon on Scadrial to have witnessed what Ruin did to Ati?
