  1. So, if Hoid was there, it's possible that he either is Adonalsium, or he played a role in it's shattering and is trying to undo what he did. Just ideas.
  2. Good point. Was Hoid there during the shattering of Adonalsium?? Is there anyone out there with WoB on this?
  3. I completely agree. The blessed little we have seen of Hoid would suggest that he likes to work behind the scenes, rather than influencing events directly. ie: He is only just barely mentioned in the original Mistborn trilogy, but we still know that he was doing very important stuff there, without necessarily making a big effect on Scadrial. My best guess is that he likes to have a little bit of power everywhere he goes, and is slowly getting stronger. It IS possible that Hoid himself is Adonalsium, and that his power was the one fractured into the sixteen shards. However, by that logic, he could also have a way of using the investiture in these items to create another shard. Both above theories could be true, but to me, they seem unlikely. The reality is, we have so little information about Hoid's motives that he really could be planning anything. Also, don't quote me on this, but I believe Lerasium isn't exclusive to the magic of Scadrial. I think we have some WoB that says you can burn Lerasium to alter your Spirit-Web, and someone burning it with knowledge of what they were doing could become a surgebinder, or maybe an Elantrian... Can somebody verify that for me?
  4. Indeed. I didn't even consider Tin as a substitute, even though Spook is my favorite Mistborn character... This is an excellent point. So, there must be some point to Sazed recreating Atium, whatever it is. Perhaps he had to sacrifice a part of his mind (In a similar way that Leras did) for something, and therefore has to limit the power of Ruin. I'm not sure. It just seems unlikely that he would create Atium in such a place that someone like the Set could find it unless he absolutely NEEDED to... Anyone else have any ideas? EDIT: I've just learned that the Pits of Hathsin are a necessary leak from the spiritual realm to the physical... So, for whatever reason, Sazed HAS to let the Atium leak back into the physical world.... Lets all chew on that for a bit. Edit II: It's #4 and #8 after you follow the link... Sorry people.
  5. Guys, I LOVE the forums. Extremely helpful, and I even have fun when my theories are wrong!! Anyway, I digress. So, Bloody Tan was either burning Poor Man's Atium, or was just clever. Ok. But it seems like my idea about the Set has a little founding, which was the basis for the Bloody Tan idea. Atium will probably be coming back... Here's my idea relating to that. So, we know Ati was a good guy before he was a Shard. (The Letter) But the shard affected his personality... I think there's a term for that I can't remember, but whatever. So, what if Sazed is trying to avoid drastic changes to his personality, and have a little more Preservation than Ruin in him, by allowing the Pits to reform?
  6. So, here's my second foray into the forums with this theory: I think the Set may have the location of Atium. We know that it takes about 300 years for Atium to regrow, and it's been around that time. I think it may be in the Pits of Eltania. (A location mentioned in the 'Broadsheet' pages of AoL, which supposedly has Koloss. I don't know the reliability of these sheets, though- they honestly seem a lot like tabloids. ) Anyway, in the Final Empire Scadrial, the Kandra (A hemalurgic creation) guarded the Atium. Could it be the Koloss' assignment now? Just an idea. *** It's obvious that Edwarn needed Wax to come to the city, so another Atium related theory I have is that Bloody Tan was an Atium Misting. I have thought long and hard about how he killed Lessie, but were he able to burn Atium, jerking Lessie in the path of Wax's shot would have been simple. This was the catalyst that sent Wax to Elendel, so... Just an idea. Anyone want to chime in??
  7. Wow, guys, that was just awesome. It was cool how many replies I got in such a short time, and while I'm a LITTLE confused, the Coppermind will help me with things I didn't quite understand. I'm pretty new to the forums, and it's just plain rad. It used to be just me and my brother, bouncing around theories, before he moved out to Missionary Service in our church. Nice to have a place to go to keep the theories running!!
  8. So, I recently read the Hope of Elantris, a short story available on Brandon's site. And since I'm not required to place spoiler tags here, I'll just run with it. So, we know Ati is the man Atium was named for, and holder of the shard Ruin. In Elantris, and the Hope of Elantris, Aon Ati is 'Hope'. And from the Letter, we learn that Ati 'was once a kind and generous man'. So, it could be a coincidence, the way things are going down, and Ati and the Aon share a name. But, I've noticed with Sanderson, there are few coincidences. So, to the meat of this idea: I think that, like Hoid, Ati was a worldhopper (a member of the 17th Shard, perhaps?) and thereby found Ruin. It's a solid theory, I think... However, knowing that I don't know everything, I'm interested what everybody else has to say.
  9. So, I am relatively new to this site, and have NO IDEA where to go or what do for clue number 8 on the Shardhunt. I feel really bad, cuz noone else has asked for help on this... But I got over my pride, and here I am. Any help, please?
