  1. It's very likely that spren are all associated with one or more shards. Lift's spren appears to be all Cultivation, Syl appears to be all Honor. Others may be hybrids. The Stormfather appears to be more than that, a full sliver. Although it doesnt appear to be in the same sense that the Lord Ruler was a sliver. Since Odium is stuck on Braise, his influence on Roshar may be more through his spren than directly. If the unmade are creations of his (perhaps high spren made as counterparts to heralds?) and capable of autonomous action, it could explain it.
  2. The knife retaining the force to "thunk" audibly into the floor implies an illusion to me, but raises the question of how Jasnah managed it. It's not an ability we associate with her. Sticking an actual body would require tremendous force to go through with enough force to make that kind of sound. Perhaps her spren did it?
  3. I attended the signing, and while it wasnt realistic to lurk about during the whole signing to see what questions he answered, here is what he gave in response to my own: Q: What is Odium's edge. Vin and Ati killed each other but Rayse has downed 3 shards and survived. Was it skill, ability, numbers or possibly un-dispersed power? A: Some combination of the above Q: Could Sazed take down Rayse since he has two shards? A: Rayse is VERY scared of Sazed. However, given Sazed is a coposite of two diametrically opposed shards, he finds it very difficult to act.
  4. The wrist band is numbered and is your place in line, for those planning on attending. At least at the Huntington Beach store you get your wrist band when you pick up the book any time after 9AM.
  5. I did a quick search but didnt see these ideas, at least in concise form so my apologies if I'm repeating. This involves a theory on how mortals and spren interact.
  6. I cant help but wonder if the "betrayal" the spren refer to wasnt the disbanding of the KR, but the formation in the first place. There seems to be evidence that fabrials at least, ans possibly shard blades and shard plate and other usages *trap* spren. Maybe the spren agreed to serve in a certain capacity and the deal got changed on them. Maybe they are ok with the bonding to a human that gives them their powers but not with later usages such trap them. As an aside, has anyone ever asked Brandon if a surge binder could disable a shard plate wearer by draining the gems that power the plate?
  7. Since we have WoB that Szeth doesnt get his surgebinding from a spren (or at least an honor spren), perhaps what Darkness perceives as encouraging a desolation is the more standard method of gaining surgebinging, which is a Nahel/spren bond.
