Honestly, I suspect that Cognitive identity affects you no matter what--for instance, I think that one of the reasons that Shallan's powers work so well is that she's changing the Cognitive identity of the people she's doing her lightweaving on. It's entirely possible that I'm wrong--perhaps the investiture will lighten Kaladin's eyes whether he likes it or not--but I would like to consider the possibility that his eyes are fading back to brown because he doesn't accept light-colored eyes. Honestly, it could be both--perhaps in order to become a Windrunner 100%, he has to really accept his identity as a Windrunner (the speaking of the Ideals hints at that as a possibility).

I'm going to go ahead and point this out, since nobody has yet:

He RAFO'd me, which I expected, but he explained that the reason he had to RAFO it was because he doesn't want to build anticipation or expectations about the heralds yet, since they won't really be heavily featured until the 2nd set of 5 books. That's a paraphrase obviously, but it's the essence of what he was trying to convey.

Fantastic--I would be interested to know who all has read Dragonsteel though, in order to discuss it in my post-read. I've read everything in the Cosmere, plus WoT and a few non-cosmere novels of Sanderson as well. And GreyPilgrim: Yes, it is! Glad you caught it.

Hello to the 17th Shard! This is my first time visiting the forums, but I've been a follower of coppermind.net and the Cosmere for over a year now. I just though I would share with you something exciting I just picked up from the Harold B. Lee library at BYU: http://i.imgur.com/tUjQ4Y2.jpg That's right friends, I'm reading it! Has anyone here read Dragonsteel yet? What are your (no spoilers) thoughts/opinions of it?
