Except that RJ confirmed that the Creator does not interfere. I think it was the Dark One. As for the traveling thing, RJ at least attempted to explain inconsistencies later, though I think he didn't imagine the gateway until later. When Lews Therin and Rand Traveled, the descriptions were not incredibly detailed, but when Ishamael Traveled, it was specifically described, and he did this shimmering and disappearing/reappearing act. RJ said this was an effect of True Power Traveling. I think it's a bit of a retcon, but we generally let it slide.

It's funny; Erica Sadun (WoTFAQtress-cum-tech-supergeek) told me that TDR was her favorite of the early books, and she felt 4-6 weren't as good. There seem to be a lot of older fans who feel that way. Now 4-6 are the favorites. I liked TDR because I'd never read a story where the author actually backed away from the main character like that, and I found that the element of mystery was intriguing, and I also enjoyed the perspective of the other characters. Also, there will be some big news tomorrow, and I think it's about this.

I'm so glad everyone likes it. There are really only a handful of people on both sides who are truly geeking out about it, but I expected that. Just be warned...if you're linking to individual questions on the Hero of Ages TWG thread in the Wiki, I might completely re-enter that report in order to make it one Q&A per entry, instead of one entry per person like it is now. I'll try to get that done soon so you don't have to change citations (assuming you haven't already started changing them). The links will change when I do that.
