I actually have not read these yet so I did not know that… There are a lot of great thoughts here! Thanks for replying!

It will probably be another six-ish years until the next books for the Stormlight Archive come out, but I was thinking about what could possibly happen. But essentially, everything had gone to Damnation, so I really have no clue what they’re going to do. Dalinar has died and become some sort of evil spren thing, the stormfather is dead, Stormlight no longer exists, meaning radiants are either stuck in urithiru (with navani in a coma inside some sort of glass-gel-crystal thing) or unable to use their powers, unless they have a corrupted spren, Adolin still only has one leg, Kaladin is having an extended therapy session with the heralds (of which he now is one), Venli’s creating a chasm fiend-listener-singer-Fused society, Shallan, Rlain, and Renarin are trapped in Shadesmar, and Odium has taken Honor’s power and become Retribution, while Cultivation has fled. In addition, Szeth is doing who-knows-what, Wit/Hoid is offworld, Sigzil and Rysn have dawnshards, and I’m not entirely sure where the latter is. And to top it all off, Roshar is in a time bubble and will be for a couple decades, which will be seventy or eighty years to the rest of the Cosmere. So the question remains: How are they possible supposed to defeat Retribution? I think they need to start by finding some way to unmake him back into Odium and Honor. Retribution is probably going to try and conquer the rest of Roshar, though he rules a lot of it, so they need to stop or at least hold it off until they can find a better way to fight him. How do you fight a god? There are some helpful tips in The Hero of Ages (Mistborn), but it doesn’t quite work the same in Roshar. I’d love to hear other people’s ideas!

Does Pattern count as a favorite? Also Wit, of course. As for least favorite, I didn’t really like Jasnah. When she came back after the boat sank, she treated Shallan like a little girl instead of a woman who had just had a lot of personal growth and discovered her Radiant powers. WaT spoiler:

Thank you! That really helps.

Would Lift be one of the only Radiants who still had power if all the others only used Stormlight? They’ve literally lost their power source, forever. Radiants can use Towerlight, but how does that work with the situation in Urithiru, and would the light (a combination of Stormlight and lifelight), be affected or decimated by the change? And also, can radiants use voidlight? Sorry for asking so many questions but the book is quite confusing.

It took me around an hour to skim/read the entire thing, and that’s skipping most of page 4 and lots of the math-y stuff. So congratulations!…? I think that the US would have an advantage at the beginning, but Roshar is pretty resilient. And if we consider the fact that even the Radiants don’t know the full scope of all of their powers (the Sibling and Navani have discussed how newer radiants are not limited by expectation, and they can do more things), then I think the US might not be able to effectively combat all their abilities if they don’t understand them. It would definitely take some time to figure out massive grey fabrials you don’t even see falling out of the sky, and they could probably be killed by guns if it was very, very accurate. As far as infrared radiation and such for lightweavers (as discussed earlier in the thread), I think that part of the perception is knowing that living things will generate heat. They don’t need to know the specifics to know that a realistic illusion will have this. Honestly, I would root for Roshar purely because the US (or any country/planet) should not go around attacking people. Though it is interesting to imagine. And it would be devastating for both sides (but maybe mostly Roshar).

What are the best Wind and Truth moments?
Raelynn replied to Lesser spren's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think somewhere in the top has to be when Shallan was jumping up and down over Renarin and Rlain and the spren thought she was making “sounds of pain.” It’s not emotionally dramatic but it was hilarious. -
I thought Wind and Truth was pretty standard, as far as thirteen-hundred-page books go. I didn’t have that many expectations because I began the series a few weeks ago, after all the books were published, and didn’t need to wait long amounts of time before beginning the next one. I did think that Dalinar’s decision at the end didn’t have quite the dramatic buildup I anticipated after ten painful days of trying to keep Roshar from falling apart. I liked Szeth’s, Kaladin’s, and Adolin’s perspectives, and well as some of Shallan’s. If you ask me, it was worth trudging through those 1329 pages, if only to see how it ended, and how the characters have grown. I don’t want to cause trouble, nor take one side or the other. Perhaps I don't really have the best view on this, seeing as I haven’t been arguing this entire time, but I think something should be said. I do enjoy solid academic discourse, in which people set their ideas on the table and consider the value of them. Truly considering it, not just dismissing one view because it differs from a preconceived one. I came into this little forum expecting interesting conversation and opinions and chatter, and instead I read through an unspooling and increasingly offending argument in which one side or the other must be right and there can be no middle ground of maybe some ideas were right, some were wrong, and some need some work. There’s nothing wrong with admitting failure-that’s a cornerstone of the Stormlight Archive, after all. I don’t wish to get into an extended debate, and if you intensely dislike me now that’s fine. I don’t want a part in your discourse other than to ask that you keep it civil. There is little more important and less utilized than polite conversation from two differing views. We need more of it, not less.

Dalinar manifesting the Stormfather stuff
Raelynn replied to Ascended Grubberfly's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think it was partially about respect. If the Stormfather didn’t want to be manifested and controlled by a human (as many spren are sensitive about), then it would be rude for Dalinar to force that on him. -
All the characters in the Stormlight Archive have some very traumatic pasts. While we haven’t all survived countless battles and/or killed our fathers, I was wondering how we can all relate to the different characters in our own lives? I, for example, can relate to Kaladin’s trouble in Rhythm of War. I didn’t have friends for several months, and I know what it’s like to keep going back to that dark place even when the world becomes brighter around you. It’s hard to remember that things are good when they’ve been dark for so long. I’d love to here other people’s thoughts!

“Perhaps,” he said, looking up towards the stars. “Whatever else might be said, at least the world chose a nice night upon which to end.” -Wit in Words of Radiance Wit stepped over to Shallan, then quietly folded his arms around her. She trembled, then twisted, burying her face in his shirt. “You’re not a monster, Shallan,” Wit whispered. “Oh, child. The world is monstrous at times, and there are those who would have you believe that you are terrible by association.” “I am.” “No, for you see, it flows in the other direction. You are not worse for your association with the world, but it is better for its association with you.” -Wit in Oathbringer.
