  1. Oh that makes more sense. I didn't know that.
  2. Uhh Do you mean "fun fact you get notification when someone looks to your post"?
  3. Ok let's go anyone can start remember we are in the war camp after a meteor and Crystal is calling for survivors. Just don't do anything not within your reasonable powers Crystal: "...anyone? Is anyone here?" @GG0z @Through The Living Star @Ink and Embers
  4. Wait how? Here let me say my number in the most confusing, impossible way possible that's never been done before on this forum:
  5. I've literally never used the discord in my life, so I have no idea what it is like. The forum community is great, though. If you scroll down under the forums page you can see who's online, and the amount of people is usually pretty big. And if you post a question, it gets put on a special unanswered list until someone responds, so your questions will probably never be ignored. I would recommend finishing the Stormlight Archive series before really doing too much on this site. Most of the things on the site seem to be about those books, and there isn't much content that talks about the Stormlight Archive, but only up to Words of Radiance. Also people here are lazy and call Words of Radiance WoR and Wind and Truth is WaT so if you see that you know what it means now. This isn't just a book discussion forum! There's also a lot of fun role play (like my thread below - you probably shouldn't look at it until you finish Stormlight though), and also just goofy stuff like Battle for the Sandwich and Count as high as you can before a moderator posts (also below). My RP Thread: Goofy stuff:
  6. Yes, everyone can join. You don't need to ask. Yes, Star, you can be Odium. I will add to the topic post that odium is taken. "A survivor is? Are there any survivors?", calls Crystal as she flies around the burning war camp.
  7. Ok I don't want to sound like I'm advertising or something but you should check out the new RP that I'm trying to start, I think it has potential to be really fun. You can ignore this if you want but I think you would have fun.
  8. This is intended to be a space for people to just relax, have fun, and recharge from a long day. In this thread, we will do a roleplay, taking place on the world of Roshar in an alternate reality where (Stormlight climax spoiler) You can roleplay literally any scenario you want. Rules: Only play your own character and any spren or companions of that character. What happens must make sense and be possible in the world of Roshar Plot must be easy to follow without having to read the entire thing. This means no complex and long story arcs allowed. Your first post on this topic should include an introduction to who your character is. Aim for maximum laughs!!!!! NO BORING SPEAKING SCENES. ACTION AND COMEDY ONLY. If I notice too much boring talking I'm throwing in a terrible disaster so watch out. You can play anything from a Dawnshard to a random darkeyes, but NO DUPLICATES!!! Only one person can be the Shard of Odium, or the Nightwatcher Bondsmith, or any other single character role at a time! Your character should probably have a similar name to your sharder username. Characters that are taken currently: Shard of Odium: @Through The Living Star My character: Deception is a human Knight Radiant (elsecaller). He is bonded to Crystal (inkspren, she/her, overly serious). Crystal's words will be in blue to distinguish them from Deception. STORY STARTS HERE: We are on the shattered plains in the Alethi warcamps. What a beautiful nice day it is today! <suddenly, a massive meteor crashes into the camp, knocking everyone out and setting some stuff on fire> "Ugh... What happened?", asks Deception an hour later. "You passed out after the sky fell on us", informs Crystal in a completely unbothered tone. "WHAT???" "Ow! My leg. Crystal, go look for edgedancers to see if any survived the... whatever that was... and can heal me." "Searching now!"
  9. Which works unless it doesn't. And the entire problem with autism is that the definition of things "flowing organically" is just totally different for an autistic person. Sometimes things work, generally if the other person is also ND or if you just get really lucky, but a lot of the time they just don't. Joking does seem to be a universal language of sorts between autistic and neurotypical people, so that does help. That assumption, again, may or may not be correct. I will not reveal my age. Sorry.
  10. True. Should I put that on sharder one liners? Lol. Whenever I find a new place (new school, sports team, whatever), I always make about 3 really good friends and just completely alienate everyone else without meaning to. Then I end up getting bullied, and the 3 good friends I did make get bullied by association sometimes. It sucks. Does this happen to you?
  11. Aaand there is the problem. "You will withdraw from spaces you are not". So, (school/college/work - not about to reveal my age)? Yea, I think I'm stuck for a while. Besides I have a massive friends and followers network on Roblox so sometimes I literally pull waves of friendly people behind me when I enter a server, which definitely helps. A bit harder to do that in real life. Roblox friendship making: Me: Here, take this OP gun Them: Thanks! Want to be friends? Me: Sure! Them: <sends a friend request> Real life friendship making: Me: <says nothing> Them: uhhhh want to sit over here? Me: ok sure Them: <silence> Me: What's your name? Them: [name] Me: I'm [not telling u internet people] Them: <awkward silence> Me: <awkward silence> Them: do you like to do _____? Me: No <awkward silence>
  12. Hello. MAKE BRICK SHAPED STICKS AND JOIN THE CULT OF THE BRICK FOREVER!!! HAAAAAA
  13. Good. A welcome change away from Roblox lol. One time I revealed my autism in the Roblox chat just to see if the server was toxic and ... uhhh ... let's just say they were. Luckily I couldn't care less about random strangers attacking me digitally. It's so disgusting how like <5% of people ruin things for the rest of us. Luckily those people seem to get bored while reading the Stormlight Archive and mostly never make it to the forum. chat log looked something like this (Don't worry I didn't include anything too offensive): Nothing like whatever that was ever happens on this forum. A much needed break. Ok ima shut my yapper now. Maybe I'll actually stop this time... no, that would mean something was seriously wrong with me. Ima go spread the brick cult now. BRICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. *me, instantly*: "BUT... @GG0z STARTED IT !!!!!!" Ok but really, Nobody was online on the other thread, and to be fair @GG0z kinda ignored @Through The Living Ketek's attempt to redirect things to the roleplay topic. But ok ...fine... I will switch to the roleplay thread for this stuff. YO GG0z SWITCH TO THE ROLEPLAY THREAD.
  15. Good point. Sure would understand you better than some random kid struggling with a completely unrelated problem like it sometimes is in mental health groups. I guess there's also just also a very strong correlation between people that are active on this forum and people with mental health issues, neurodiverse people, and a lot of other minority groups. I don't know if this is because of the actual topic of the forum or just because there is such a good diverse community here though. I actually don't think I've seen a single real insult, bad cursing, slurs, or even any hate against the LGBTQIA+ community, which is very common on the internet. Someone could post a question here with "Gay | Trans | Autistic | Depressed | Latino" in their signature box in big red letters and (from what I've seen at least) get the same responses as a random typical white dude. This is rare on the internet, although it is getting better. I think this is one of the real reasons people like us gravitate towards this forum. Ok ok sorry. I'm not trying to judge. I just think it's interesting that everyone here is on a book forum of all things. I'm including myself in that "everyone".
  16. Does anyone find it a bit strange that we're talking about this stuff on a Brandon Sanderson fan based book discussion forum? I guess its because the nature of this site naturally filters out idiots and bullies because it's a literal book discussion forum and the community is really nice, but still... a book forum? Not telling people to stop using this, it's really good, but again: a book forum? Really?
  17. Oh and one more thing, @KaladinsSenseOfHumourSpren. This probably isn't relevant to you but it is really bad and also easily avoidable so I need to tell you about it in case you ever use Unity for some reason. While compiling your project, Unity can sometimes permanently delete the entire folder that your project is inside of, including itself, due to a bug. Yes, you read that right. One time it did this to me when my project folder was a sub directory of my normal home directory and not inside any projects or documents folder, and it wiped my entire home directory and all my account data. It doesn't just happen to me. It has happened to many other people on the internet as well. ALWAYS keep your Unity projects AWAY from your other files, in their OWN SEPARATED FOLDERS, and frequently back them up to other folders or cloud storage. Just felt like I needed to warn you.
  18. Good decision. Godot it seems is the only game engine that I feel is actually fun to work with. One thing, though. This is only a problem if you let it be one: tangled code. Godot gives you a lot of freedom for how to write your code, so make sure you stick to one naming convention, one format, one style, etc for your entire project. Never try to change things halfway through.
  19. Memory control is a bad thing. Memory bugs are a whole new class of error, which are borderline impossible to track down. Also, the syntax of C++ just has too much bloat to learn easily. Too many features. Btw I fixed the typo, I meant "don't mind debugging" because a lot of Unity games are quite buggy.
  20. If you do, let me just give you some advice so you don't fall down the rabbit hole of choosing an engine. Chose Roblox if: You need easy multiplayer You want players FAST Downsides of Roblox: Low level engine control is garbage They just did an update so you need a premium subscription and ID verification to properly publish games Chose Unity if: You don't mind debugging You want a massive asset library and advanced tooling You want a balanced, do-everything engine Downsides of Unity: Engine feels like it is held together with duct tape Renderer frequently bugs out and refuses to render any color except pink for no reason Chose Godot if: You are making a 2D game. Godot wins 2D, hands down. If the game is 2D, use Godot You want to learn the engine quickly You want a highly intuitive and quick workflow You hate learning complicated scripting languages (GDScript is simple) You want freedom with your project structure You need an open-source engine Downsides of Godot: No built in monetization tools 3D rendering is weak in some areas Chose Unreal Engine if: You have a very strong computer You want to make a 3D PC game You want to make a hyper-realistic game (Unreal always wins here) You learn quickly and burn out slowly You need a total god engine that can do anything in 3 lines of code if you know the right functions Downsides of Unreal Engine: Takes YEARS to learn Extremely steep learning curve Tens or hundreds of complex systems to master It uses the worst programming language ever invented, C++ (unless you want to use blueprints, which are a form of visual scripting). Trust me, just start with Godot. It's the best engine by far unless you need realistic 3D graphics, and the workflow is just so fun.
  21. Crystal remains silent. "I think Crystal is a little bit surprised that a non-inkspren could come up with a logical argument", says Deception. "Wait - No. Inkspren do not experience emotions. I am not surprised. No. Nope", exclaims Crystal in a surprised tone.
  22. "That logic is inconsistent. Insults are impractical and not scholarly". "Says the spren that just insulted every Honorspren to ever exist" <silence> "It's okay, Crystal. Just chill out for a minute." "It is not in my nature to 'chill out'. Let us speak of your next oath, Deception. Are you ready?" "No... not this... I really don't want to say it." @GG0z
  23. Crystal pops into the vision. "Wow. Is this the spiritual realm? I've never been here before. This will require much observation and research". Then, she almost trips over West and Coil. "Apologies, lesser spren" "Hey. Don't call them lesser spren. We've talked about this." "Apologies, inferior spren" "Stop it" "Request granted"
