Guys I need advice.
So, I have this friend. Long story short he went to a different school this year, and we don't live close to each other, so texting was our form of communication.
But over the past year he's been giving these one word responses and not really saying anything, y'know? I talked to him about it, and he said he would try to give more of an effort. (This was like two weeks ago, for reference)
But then yesterday, we were in the middle of the conversation, and then he just stopped replying. I know he saw it, because he left me on read. What do I do? I don't want to be one of those annoying spam texters, but I don't see him irl and I just... don't want to lose my friend. I don't really have a lot of those these days.

Just let it be for now
I have a friend who lives in Japan, I can only talk to him over text, and because of school(plus time differences and sleep schedules) there’s two three hour time periods where we can chat back and forth.
I before a month ago, the last time I texted him was after he left(about 9 months ago). We’re still friends, we’re chatting right now actually, and I get along with him just as much as when he was actually her(more even)
