  1. Sure! Final draft is due Thursday, so stay tuned I guess
  2. Submitted my research document! My teacher said I did really well, and had no feedback for me. Thanks to everyone who helped out/commented. Y'all have been a big help, and I really appreciate it
  3. Would you mind explaining those? Like I mentioned, I'm new to the Shard and am not well versed in the jokes/culture
  4. Just like- stay out of the important/lore heavy forums I don't think they're gonna get onto you for screwing around in the General Discussion or Random Stuff pages
  5. Can someone explain to me why y'all did this?
  6. You've been added to the master document. Thank you for the contribution
  7. You have no idea how helpful this is. My main research question is basically "how does Sanderson's community separate/differ itself from other book communities" and one point I'm making is we're more supportive/positive than most. Having join 17th Shard extremely recently, I had no idea about any of that. Would you mind if I quoted you in my primary sources (basically testimonies/information from people in the community)?
  8. Any advice on specific references/jokes to include? I know things like the stick, no mating, and anything related to Hoid, but anything else?
  9. Would you mind if I quote you in my observations? Specifically "both of which have a bunch of people basically crying at each other and hugging each other," for my observations about members supporting members
  10. Y'all are amazing! I really appreciate this. I've been stressing about getting my research turned in and this is gonna be so helpful with getting my observations done.
  11. Hey all! I'm doing an research paper on Discourse communities, and I chose Brandon Sanderson readers. Part of the research requirements are observations of the community "in practice." As weird as it sounds, would ya'll mind just, like, interacting in the comments? Or, recommending posts/forums to look at to get the gist of community interactions Edit: If you have any comments/thoughts that you're okay with being included in my references, please comment them!
  12. General overview: My friend and I decided to go as Windrunner (me) and Honorspren (her) for Halloween. I'm planning to do the Windrunner military uniform, and I can't decide whether I should get both a Bridge Four and Windrunner patch, or stick to only the Bridge Four patch. The current conflict is where exactly I'd put the Windrunner patch on my costume, cause the Bridge Four patch is supposed to go on the upper arm and the Windrunner one doesn't have a set place. Any advice/input would be greatly appreciated!
  13. Like I said, i really like Oathbringer and Tress. Hero of Ages is also really good. Oathbringer is probably my favorite of what I've read just for the insane events towards the end
  14. Don't get me started. I've read through Mistborn, the first 3 Stormlight (I'm a little over half way on RoW), Warbreaker, Tress, first 3 books of Mistborn era 2, as well as Eleventh Metal, Edgedancer, Dawnshard and Secret History in Arcanum Unbounded. For favorites, its a tie between Tress and Oathbringer, but I love them all. Oh! I really love the Red Rising series if we're talking outside of Cosmere
  15. Bold of you to assume he reads
  16. Ya'll seem fun
  17. Seeing the 144 replies, I realize I have made a mistake
  18. Hey all! I'm the friend. I am so sorry, and I take full responsibility for this "predicament." This is entirely my fault, seeing as I explained 17th Shard to him, showed him the forums, showed him to the introduction tab, and encouraged him to to make a post. oops : ) P.S. I cannot wait to watch this train wreck.
