  1. Ooh interesting There would be some very interesting conversations between Design and M-Bot, I feel
  2. Welcome to the Shard! If you could invite any 6 Sanderson characters to a party, who would you invite?
  3. Like I said, I don't really have time for something big right now, and when I do have the time, I'll probably just learn how to use google firebase or something to make a multiplayer game.
  4. No I don't have the time to learn it right now Scratch is waaaaaaaaay to tedious for me I'm allergic to block coding
  5. When I get the time, I'm probably going to see if I can get a game engine. Godot is a candidate, I'll do more research eventually.
  6. Because everyone was using air conditioning, but the solar panels (in my suburb, most homes have solar panels on them) weren't generating much power Even the traffic lights stopped working
  7. The beep test... and the most hated thing in PE on this side of the world Carboniferous arthropods reaching insanely large sizes was not actually caused by the high oxygen levels of the time; it was the lack of vertebrate competition in terrestrial niches. They never grew so large after the Carboniferous Rainforest Collapse and the Amniote rise to power, even when atmospheric O2 levels spiked at certain points.
  8. Don't know if y'all have heard but there's a WoT board game in the works

It's called the War of the Dragon, and it's made by the same people who made the Dune: Imperium franchise

Sounds really cool, but I'll have to wait until I finish the books, as there's apparently stuff from the Last Battle

I've heard of it, and I'm thinking of backing it. It's tempting.

  9. Yeah that's what the rule is meant to do And to be clear, this isn't my interpretation, just a interpretation My opinion is that the rules need to be completely rewritten Here's the resolution: https://iauarchive.eso.org/static/resolutions/Resolution_GA26-5-6.pdf
  10. Here is the official IAU definition of a planet 1b means that planets require sufficient gravity to make themselves into an oblate spheroid Mercury does not actually meet this; it's only round because it used to be larger, but now, if something were to smash into it without changing its mass too much, it wouldn't have the gravity to get its shape back. This is because it's made mostly of metal and rock, which is far harder to shape than ice, which is why a lot of smaller objects are in hydrostatic equilibrium, but that's a whole other thing. As for 1c - one could debate endlessly over what counts as a clear orbit, but if you take that to mean no other objects in its orbit apart from moons, then all other planets are disqualified because they have trojan asteroids orbiting at the L4 and L5 Lagrange points. Mercury doesn't have any such Trojans, because very few asteroids cross its orbit so close to the Sun and its weak gravity can't pull the ones that do into Lagrange points, therefore making it the only one that clear this interpretation of this criterion in the planet definition.
  11. A guy named Ludolph van Ceulen has 35 digits of π inscribed on his tombstone, because he spent much of his life computing them.
  12. Y'all yesterday Shards of Creation (the new Cosmere card game) was on the BGG trending games list 🥲

    It's gone now though

I've never seen that game. Is it good?

It's a little simple for my taste, it's a card game that Brandon asked the Brotherwise people to make because he wanted a game that people who aren't board gamers can play

It isn't actually released yet though

  13. If a new star entered the solar system and starting orbiting the sun, it would technically be considered a planet Mercury is technically not a planet At the same time, you could say Mercury is the only planet
  14. Several times last summer, it was 40 degrees but also cloudy so there were power outages No air conditioning for a few hours
  15. The new combined Mega Empires map looks so epic :D

When I eventually get more than 9 people playing this game (only have 4 so far, including myself), I'll pick up The Far East South and The Silk Road to combine with The East

      I can't say I've ever played it.

      Not many have.

My first and only complete game of Mega Empires: the East took around 40 hours of total playing time.

And that was with 3 players, if you combine all the games into one, it's up to 30 players.

  16. Not necessarily soldiers, but queens and workers Oh wow cool Eusociality has independently arisen more times in Hymenopterans than in the rest of life on Earth combined
  17. Woah I just passed 3000 posts

Though my actual post count, including FGaRS, is 5462

  18. Oof Yeah the book has way more of that
  19. How would you rank the 16 Shards, based on how closely they align to your personality?
  20. 30 degrees is like normal summer temperature here 40 is not uncommon
  21. Alright thanks @Amanuensis, @STINK, @Sart, @The Unknown Medallion and @DrakeMarshall have logged on in the past month Here's my taynix game: https://docs.google.com/document/d/16gvW0r8KneAmPXX_7D9v0ZK7Y1nXZuIya77M-_qweLY/edit?usp=sharing
  22. Alright! New ruleset. It's the Cognitive Realm game I was talking about a while back. https://docs.google.com/document/d/18R-m8MVfpdgLwGzXKMuJMlfgZX9jm1ZLnidkBrfOL5g/edit?usp=sharing Would this work? I realise that I've probably gone a little overboard with the spren and Radiant mechanics. Also, how do I get rulesets approved? I want to approve my taynix game.
