Ferences’s face fell. “Just four? I thought there’d be a dozen of you. Ah well I can work with this.” He stood and tossed the rats pieces of cheese, then rubbed his hands together. “You,” he pointed to the first rat who had found him. “Your name is Stuart. Congratulations. I need you to find the guard who has the keys to my cell. Find him, steal his keys, and bring them back to me.” Ferences pointed at the second rat. “You. Starmer. Look for my friend Edward. He’s like you all but bigger. Free him and bring him back to me.” He pointed to the third rat. “Revi. Look for more of your friends and bring them back here.” He pointed to the final rat. “Vellelu. Go with Stuart. Make sure you get those keys and bring them back to me.” He surveyed his small furry crew. “When you succeed I’ll have more cheese for you all. Understand? Good. Now get going.”
