  1. Pob cocks his head. "Why're ye talkin' funny, all sharp an' quick'n?" "We go thataway" Taeidin gestures in a direction slightly skewed from his original heading.
  2. Taeidin, pointing to one of the stones, shouted. "You!" He picked it up and pocketed it.
  3. Taeidin walked in that direction for hours before stopping. He pulled some of the stones out of his pouch. Taeidin then tossed them in the air, scattering them all around. He began muttering to himself and pointing at them in turn.
  4. Come morning, Taeidin began wandering off in a direction that was sharply left of the way that he was going before.
  5. "Well don't tell them that, you might hurt their feelings."
  6. "Okay. If I asked you to go to where I want to go, but I didn't tell you where I want to go, how are you supposed to go there? The stones can't read minds."
  7. "How are you supposed to know where to go if you don't know where you are going?" Taeinid said, spluttering. Groaning, Pob speaks. "All th' more good for it if ye'd stop with all of them horrible poppin' noises ye're makin'."
  8. So we know that Taln tried to kill Cultivation, and that Kalak gave him a weapon. I don't think that the weapon was a Dawnshard or Nightblood, but something else. He lost the weapon after his attempt, and was at some point forbidden to hold any weapon, suggesting maybe that he could perhaps change any weapon into this thing, thought that might not be related. He also wished that he had his weapon when Tanavast appeared, in order to kill him. This means that either Kalak was on board with killing Cultivation or Taln tricked Kalak. It seems odd to me that if they had a weapon with the potential to kill a Shard that they would not try to use it against Odium. So maybe it was destroyed, maybe they did try, or maybe Honor was too scared of giving someone that capability to let them try to do that. In Tanavast's PoVs, it seems that Cultivation did not interact with Ashyn, which is why Taln's motives are particularly confusing.
  9. Taeinid mulled this over for a second before replying. "Well, if I didn't tell them, they wouldn't know where I want to go, now would they?" he said, a little bit flustered.
  10. "They tell me which way to go. Or rather, I know where I want to go, and then I have them tell me where I want to go, and then I go."
  11. "In case there aren't any stones where I am going," Taeidin said as if it were obvious.
  12. "Oh, just saving them for later." Entering the cave, Pob speaks. "It's alright there, eh? Ne'er did get along much, what with ol' Cep. Might'n be better off this way."
  13. Taeinid looks at Afterimage oddly but continues to keep his distance.
  14. Taeinid breathed out a sigh of relief. "Thank you so much." Looking around himself, he began to pick up little rocks from the ground. After inspecting each one carefully, some he threw away, while others he put in a small drawstring pouch.
  15. Taeidin shook his head. "No, they're always there. They can't be removed. I've tried many times before."
  16. Taeidin hesitated a moment before replying. "I don't know what they do. They just float around up there, being general menaces. They come and go at the most random of times."
  17. "It's the orbs. There was one of them up there." Taeidin spoke with a quivering voice.
  18. I meant shrank with body language, not literally became smaller. Taeidin rushed into the cave and slumped against the wall. "Thank you so much!"
  19. Taeinid crouched on the ground and began whispering to himself. "It's not real, it's not real, it's not real."
  20. Taeinid shrinks down and attempts to hide behind Utility.
  21. Taeinid doesn't make it very far when he points up at the sky and shrieks, then starts running back to where he just was.
