  1. I think it's a bit confusing because special Spiritual connections that magic users have are probably made of Investiture. You burn lerasium, you get a connection to Preservation. I believe that making Allomancers in this regard costs Preservation power, thus why the mists made Mistings rather than full Mistborn.

But these Spiritual connections don't give the benefits that being Invested does (mental effects, resistance to other Investitures, glowy, etc.).

Still trying to fully grok the WoB.

Yeah, it's an interesting one. He does, however, say that there are some resistances just from having a Mistborn's spirit web:

Investing the wrong term, but you have all these connections in the spiritual realm, so yanking you away from them, or rewriting them (like soulcasting or forgery) is harder.

and also regarding investiture he does mention that:

Over time using the magic will invest you, on Scadrial.

Which puts me in mind of Savants, although note that this comment doesn't cut out Feruchemy (though also doesn't explicitly include it). Invested by regular use of Feruchemy? Is that a thing, and what does that look like?

  2. I think the WoB about Mistborn being invested is a little misleading as stated here, and it's well worth reading it in context (but only a little misleading; it's not a matter of Moogle reading it wrong so much as it's a matter of the WoB being a little ambiguous and not easily summarized).

After agreeing that Mistborn aren't specifically invested when not burning, he backtracks with "I'm going to have to back up on that one and say, yes, the mistborn are as invested as a Knight Radiant" before clarifying that Invested isn't really the right term: "Investing the wrong term, but you have all these connections in the spiritual realm".

Does this mean that talking about someone "with powers" as Invested is an incorrect use of terminology? Is a Feruchemist Invested? Perhaps having these kinds of powers is always a matter of "connections in the spiritual realm".

At the very least I think it's well worth adding the "Mistborn are as invested as a Knight Radiant" for clarity.

  3. Because Time Bubbles are one of Kurk's pet things. Also being either in or out is how I remember it too.

    Also,

MASSIVE SPOILERS FOR THE END OF THE BOOK IN THE BOX, SERIOUSLY DON'T READ FOR THE LOVE OF BRANDON AND ALL THAT IS COSMERELY (Unless you've already read it).

That feel when she says she really likes Lessie and she's sad she's not in this book.

There were so many moments like that.

I'm very much going to enjoy listening to her reading this. Bahahahaha!

  4. Is there a forum or something where I might be able to find people relatively near me who play the MAG? I'd love to play through a campaign or two before I start getting to set up my own game. I live about an hour from NYC and Philly, three hours from Baltimore or DC. Anyone know of any MAG groups in those areas?

There's always playing by Forum if you can't find anyone in your area. I play by forum here: http://steelministry.com/

  5. This is going to sound crazy, but does anyone else want to merge this game with the MAG? Like, use the game as the framework for the "outer" or "meta" game to a giant playthrough of the MAG?

Everyone plays as members of different houses and we fill in the resolution of the "Problems" with actual MAG gameplay.

Claincy or Hero, I'm looking at you as the narrators most likely to be able to pull this off!

  6. The cover appears to depict Wax and Marasi being all serious and whatnot.

Or Wax and Steris or Wax and Ranette or Wax and Wayne in drag. ;)

    What are the four faiths?

Probably Sliverism, Survivorism, Pathism and Neo-Trellism.

EDIT: My bad. It's not neo-Trellism it's just Trellism which is neo-Trelagism. I was reminded of this by reading the linked thread which pretty much says all of this anyway.

  7. I'm also in the "can't afford the next generation" crowd, so I'm relieved it will be released on 360.

Also, it's been three years already?! Wow. It seems like just yesterday. Tragically in these three years I've only seen two games I would like to play among the next-gen line up, and neither I like enough to justify getting a next gen console (I got my 360 for Bioshock and Borderlands 1).
