  1. Good question. I don't think we know definitively but maybe? Agreements between shards seems to have special significance though so there definitely needs to be some formality to the procedure. We can only speculate at this point...
  2. In the past, Mr T has always seen the curse/boon as an annoyance and mistake; this is especially apparent in this book. The line "He was finally free of the frailties of body and position that had always controlled and defined him. He finally had the freedom to do what he’d desired." from ROW 114 suggests to me that he doesn't feel constrained anymore which to me implies the curse is no longer a thing. A more relmatic angle is that I don't think what Culti did to T could "stick" Investiture wise after T ascended. We've seen in the past that investiture of different types don't like mixing with each other (esp in this book) and I can't see any way which the relatively low amount of magic Culti would have used on Todd could have stuck post ascension. My angle on the what is Culti's plan: Culti definitely planned for this to happen but she thinks she can control (or at least guide) Todd but I think she's just underestimating Todd quite a bit. Every one of Culti's plans has succeeded so far (Todd, Lift, Dalinar) and it would be too convenient if actually even her controlling *the ascension of a Vessel* went without a hitch.
  3. Todd is definitely bound by the rules of the contest (as evidenced by his questioning of Hoid in the Epilogue). Though it looks like he has found some loophole (which is discussed on other threads here)
  4. Also seems likely that Design would help him on this journey of discovery to figure out what Todd did.
  5. Brandon stated on Reddit that Rysn's enhanced colour/pitch perception is because of a "certain level of investiture" and not to do with Awakening directly. Screenshot:
  6. * The bit when Nightblood is given to Szeth * Hoid saying Cultivation isn't his type * Kaladin arriving to save Dalinar from Szeth
  7. I think it was an outstanding book which delivered what it promised. Yes the start was slow and I really wished at points that Kalidin would open up to Dalinar about his powers but after reading the book its obvious that the loss of the first two Ideals was essential in the devlopment of Kaladins character and it would not have fit his character to open up until the very end of the book. As for Jasnah's revival - could not believe it. Maybe I've read too many of the books where charavetrs who are dead stay dead but did not see her coming back. There better be a very good explanation in the next book though And my favourite part of the book: Nightblood - possibly my favourite character in epic fantasy and he ends up with SZETH! I honestly put down the book and closed my eyes for a minute as soon as I read the Night blood voice bit. Also I can't believe I missed V = Zahel. Clearly wasn't paying enough attentions to his scenes - should have been blatantly obvious when he says he's not heard a voice in his head as he goes sleep for years. Also that leads to the question: what happened to Viola. Is she somewhere else on this world? Another world? Dead? I guess future books will explain. All in all it was brilliant and I'm already looking forward to WB2 and Book 3! Might need to reread this within the next week to see if I missed anything else though
  8. AFAIK there is a theory somewhere that the thrill is caused by Odium to make men fight with each other thus making his task of destroying them that much easier.
  9. I think my username should be enough to figure out who my favourite character is...
  10. Just rereading my first post I don't think I made very clear what I meant. Interesting info about the spren though. I vaguely remember hearing about it from somewhere but forgot about it. The Sanderson q&a is also extremely informative for building a theory.
  11. I agree. Just me idly speculating that's all. Also I didn't mean the regional system. I meant the idea of the shattered shards both contributing to a magic system. Might give us an idea of whether Cultivation still lives...
  12. Is it just me or when I think of Cultivation I think of Gaia or Mother Earth of Roman/Greek legends? Anyone else?
  13. Fair point. Its just that Gallivar seemed to put a lot of time and effort into the Parshendi treaty that's all.
  14. Hey all. I've been lurking on these forums as a guest for a few days and finally decided to join up today. Im an avid fantasy (especially epic) reader and stick pretty much to the genre for fiction. I discovered Sanderson a few moths back with Way of Kings but my friend recommended I read mist born first as he though it was an easier start. After Mistborn I fell in love with Sandersons writing and devoured most of his books. I'm eagerly awaiting words of radiance although a bit disappointed that it will be shorter than twok. Apart from sanderson, my favourite fantasy authors are Erikson (<3 Malazan) and Eddings. Look forward to contributing here
  15. In any case there's some interesting possibilities there IMO.
  16. Yes I guessed that. I'm just wondering if anyone in the past DID find the body and if so what they did with it. I mean - does it still hold some power or is it just an ordinary body?
  17. Its a very well thought out theory which makes very good sense. I'm wondering if something similar could be applied on Roshar...
  18. I think it is a very good theory except the uniting the Parshendi bit. When you are trying to unite the world, you would surely start with the ones you already knew stuff about. However the alethi didn't know anything about the parshendi. why then try and unite with a different race let alone a different species before you unite your allies or even your own country.
  19. Was going to create a new thread but is sorta related to this one so here goes: Honor's body (I forget the true name of the Shard holder). Do we ever find out what happened to it? I mean in Mist born we see atis, vins and letas' bodies when they die. What happened to Honor's?
