I understand everyone drawing their line, but as I see it, it was created unethically, and it will continued to be used unethically, so this is where I draw mine. I will never willingly use or open a chatbot, I switched search engines to escape google's AI, and this is my little way that I can try and support the environment.
I, personally, don't have any problems with the time-frame. I enjoy coding, and anything that keep me doing that longer I embrace. I don't love the tedium of debugging, but I enjoy it just as much as any other part.
Yes, but I think it is bad to encourage the destructivity. Until AI can miraculously fix it's energy consumption, cooling capabilities, creation of parts, or some how solve global warming, I will continue to use climate change as a point against AI.
As for the companies? Yes, that is true, but I don't want to interact with the same thing that is generating a response telling children to not tell their parents about their suicidal thoughts, encourage destructive behaviors, and encourage suicide. The people getting effected by this don't see AI as a friend, they see it as tool to solve all their problems, and give them all their answers, even about their mental health, which is exactly what the AI has been advertised to do. So maybe it isn't a point against using AI, but it doesn't make me want to use it any more.
