  1. I mean.... He was an a-hole from a personal perspective. But he also wanted his people, his humans, to survive. And I think in Vin and Elend he found two who were worthy of carrying that burden together. It's incredibly sad and unfair, but it's also an incredibly beautiful ending to the trilogy. It can't be accepted if you're the type of person who thinks "happy endings" always have to happen for everyone. If you've lived through tragedy and still found deep meaning and a connection to God and survival of the human spirit, it makes sense. It's odd how some of these Mormon authors make absolutely the best fiction writers, isn't it? It's because of faith, just like Sazed... In spite of all the rational and logical objections and being able to compare one's faith to so many other similar versions of the same.
