    Pyk stood his ground, a blue mist rising around him as he continued. ”You tackled Asher and Seraphina.” ”You took control of her, pushing her to assassination.” He twisted his hands in a half gesture. ”And you made Asher watch as you killed one close to her.”

    Pyk cocked his head. “I don’t need anyone else’s opinion of you to make my own, considering what you’ve done to Asher.” His tone, though jovial before, lowered to an almost growl.

    Is it bad that I feel less depressed on 3 hours of sleep?

    Also,

    I got five points of extra credit for something in math

    And a lot of people might think of it as a buffer…

    but I all I can think of is that one homework is five points…

      I deliberately take a night off of sleeping every now and then. Like, only a couple times a year - can't do it too often, not any more (I'm ooooooold haha). But I have my best, happiest, most productive days when I've stayed up into the wee hours of the morning the night before, enjoying the quiet solitude of the night, reading or doing projects or whatever, and only gotten a few hours of sleep at most.

      I choose this on purpose and do it for self care; and because I've chosen to embrace it and do it deliberately, I can throw off the guilty thoughts of "I should be better than this, I should be at least trying to sleep, I should be..." and actually relax into it and enjoy it.
      "I should be..." No. No I should not. I have figured out how I function best, I am listening to my body, and I am making choices that result in me doing well. And when I do it too much, and I start feeling worse, I listen to my body again and let myself sleep, and then I actually get real sleep, real natural sleep, and don't spend hours trying to fall asleep, tossing and turning.

      I did this a couple night ago actually, and have been ruminating on how it's an interesting thing, because in some ways it flies in the face of what everyone says about taking care of yourself, but in other ways, it lines up perfectly well.

    Not exactly sure how to go about doing it that’s more Haly and Glass’ domain. Pyk laughs. “You know… I do have precautions. Now…” He flicked a piece of metal at Cade, and it instantly sticks. ”A tracker, in case I lose you.” It didn’t seem to be easily destroyed. ”Guide the way!”

    The soldiers were frozen, but fire burst from them just as quickly. The influence of Rage was real, but it didn’t seem to be coming from Rage. Intellect was sending help, columns of ice emerging from the shield he had up @Argenti The ice burst forth, pushing past the fire and freezing a number. @Spark of Hope ”Change the Threads. You can change the Starstone itself, theoretically. Render it inert.” Far above them, the sky began to glow.

    Pyk hesitated slightly, then nodded, ignoring this. It wasn’t his place too intrude. “The Casts should help - even though you can pierce them, they help with reaction.” He layered a complex Cast on himself, filling the air with a blue mist for a second. oooh wait I skimmed didnt see a bit there

    Pyk turned his head. “Asher, I completely understand. I… I was not in the exact same situation…” He gave a wry grin. “But… well… Me and Dint were being taken advantage of by a government - the Pact. They ‘saved’ us from our ‘underdeveloped’ country, and propped us up to further their campaigns. They fooled Dint… but I wasn’t fooled. But the problem was, they truly did save me. They are the ones who supplied the technology for my half-sight. But… it was always so frustrating, having them at my shoulder, guiding my actions. And… when one of us got out of line… they… they took care of us.” He frowned, memory returning. “They… they killed him, because of what I did. And I stayed with them, because I was nothing without them.” He gave a wry chuckle. Forced. “My advice here is the same advice Dint gave me back before they fooled him. Just because you take help from an undesirable source, doesn’t mean all that comes from it is automatically undesirable.”
