  1. I’m not fluent duolingo im learning it for a novel I’m writing set in a Chinese adjacent nation i can piece that together, but I’m not as good with the hanzi (it says something like “do you speak Chinese”, I believe. I know the first and last three characters, but the two between 你 and 中 are ones I’m not sure about. I’ve seen one of them.)
  2. A voice warned Afterimage, but he was unable to determine the source. So he dispersed, fleeing in the blink of an eye. "I'm sorry." A figure, disfigured, stood where Afterimage once was. "But I can't have you kill him. I hope you understand. Him, and his specific attributes..." The figure, disfigured, smirked slightly. "Will be very useful to me, in the coming days." The figure, disfigured, disappeared, and Afterimage sent out a web of exploratory particles, letting him sense his surroundings with some modicum of success. He returned, successfully evading the impact once arrived.
  3. Is this what it’s like to have an evil plan in TLT?

  4. He grimaced. He was afraid something like this would happen. ”Perhaps you can challenge me,” Afterimage taunted. There was a high likelihood that it was the Witherlord that was staring down at him. “Perhaps you can beat me, even.” A grin. ”I would like to see that.”
  5. Another drone sent Night a thank you, but the drone on the ground was not willing to take the risk of sending an acknowledgment. He didn’t have enough information to make the best decision, but he knew that he didn’t want to expose his Adari to a Withergeist.
  6. He moved to enter, but stopped abruptly. Afterimage was confronted abruptly with the scene of destruction. ”Well… this won’t do!” He studies the scene. “Guess I got to do some clean up.” He stepped through the streets, destroying Withergeist after Withergeist with concentrated energy. He looks at the sky, reaching a tentative influence towards the space without stars. “Where are you?”
  7. “Afterimage. For the ghost that I am.” He shifts uncomfortably. “And because I retained none of the memories of the man that died.”
  8. “Something like that. Both are… particularly nasty, though. The Narrator side wants to create… chaos. The Ennuler side is not typical, you could say. It wishes to stop time entirely.”
  9. Lol yeah incoming lore drop He shifted. “That’s a question. My Author has taken a particular interest in me. Certain transformative events in my life have been metaphorically recreated—except instead of giving me ‘magic’ this time, I’ve become Aware, and the parts of me most aligned with the poles of the Thread became substance of those poles. ”It is difficult to explain. But before this happened, I was made of a crystal dust. Very magical crystal dust. The dust held the consciousness of Aeia, a tyrant whose name I try not to invoke. She was essentially the deity of Creation. Chaotic Light. To keep her contained, though, a carefully balanced lattice of the Deep was required. A dangerous substance, especially in large quantities. It is most closely aligned with what you know as Ordered Dark. ”The dust on its own is not me. It’s useful, but it isn’t me. You see, I’m somewhat of a ghost. The sapience of my past life was impressed upon the crystal. Still, this was not enough. The sapience would have been absorbed into the consciousness of Aeia and contributed to her power. So I was given a spark. By the Flame. And his power is Sight.” He paused. “And now I find that these things are slowly happening again, metaphorically. And my Author gave me a Spark, converting my basic essence into Chaotic Light and Ordered Dark.” @ThatOneGuyOverThere Unbeknownst to him, there was something else watching him. @NameIess Jim the Enuller Stand-in, if he were still alive, found that his cough had returned.
  10. “I bet I could take him.” He shrugs. “That’s the Narrator in me speaking, though. I exerted the Ordered Dark to close that rift, and now the Chaotic Light is overreacting.” Afterimage frowns. “Do you worry that he can sever the link with Chaotic Dark?”
  11. Afterimage did so. Minus the pestering, because Afterimage was matuee in all he did. ”So Inkwell wants to usurp? Or he views you as a usurper. Interesting.”
  12. “Yep, sounds about right.” Afterimage cocked his head. ”I evacuated the survivors. Or at least, the non-Authored survivors. Don’t know what other will think of my pseudo-Narration. I’ll be a more less helpful there, but…” He shrugged. “I can always go up against Inkwell if gets out of hand.” A slightly reckless (and dangerous) eagerness entered his eyes, but he was quick to abandon it. “Sorry. I patched the Rift physically, but it’ll still have some modicum of Plot impact. And right now it’s really messing with my balance.” ”So you say don’t need help? That’s a load.”
  13. Ninja ig Another is confronting the dragon, and looks to Inkwell after 9/10 proves useless. He turned to 9/10. “I think you need help. Can Inkwell handle himself for the time being?”
  14. Ah Afterimage’s drone shifted, appearing near the dragon. He eyed the gash in reality, rolling his eyes and placing a hand forwards. Ordered Dark oozed from deep within his being, creating a protective barrier against the gap. Stopping time completely around it. ”I think you need my help.” ———— It had been some time since it had happened, but Afterimage finally accepted the spark that the Scribe gave him, symbolic of the Flame that had given him life. Awareness. And the Flame that had set him apart. His eyes. He was not a Narrator, though he leaned towards Narration, occasionally. And he was not an Enuller, though he leaned towards Nullification. Occasionally. But he was Aware. ———— Afterimage sized the dragon up and down. “A bug in reality, is it?” He looked to 9/10. @Verdance “What would you have me do?”
  15. Hehehe it’s funny day

  16. Afterimage noted the effectiveness of the strategy and began sending orbs of this energy as projectiles, passing them through as many Withergeists as possible. didnt see nothing bout a dragon till now... guess i should help Afterimage turned his attention to the dragon. Chaos. Rampant entropy. But entropy was in itself a form of action. Not a true manifestation of darkness. The Deep within him began to pulse, and he struggled to reign it in. How it managed to pulse, he did not know. But the Deep knew darkness. And it was eager to deliver. this is why I can't consider him ordered light.
  17. Hmmm if i had a suggestion, it would be to bring the orange of the fire out to another element in the background (or even the type) like, maybe make the sunrise a bit colored it just seems a little off to have one point of color, and that point not be something that is compositionally important. otherwise it’s like really good
  18. Afterimage looked down, grimacing. “I see. I didn’t want to do this.” Energy. Volatile. Unconfined, in the small space it was constrained to. The plasma reached a temperature… somewhere around 10^25 times the heat of the Sun. The Adari structure began to be strained, something Afterimage had never experience, and the Withergeist was torn to pieces—the mere gravity of the dust around it at that heat pulling its host apart molecule by molecule. “I hope that worked.” ya know I realized that if there was a maximum speed, the speed of light, there should be a maximum temperature as well. I was right… sort of. What I didn’t expect was how weird it was. At the temperature, the particles go so fast that their mass increases (something I forgot about), and their gravity is so strong that it overcomes the strong force and essentially performs fission with just gravity. But it doesn’t stop there. The gravity is so strong that each individual particle becomes a little black hole, with an escape velocity faster than light. We have no idea what happens at that point. But it isn’t pretty. Luckily, Afterimage is able to contain it. (Wow! AI is so smart!)
  19. Alright guys

I have an idea for a TAC (Temporary Actionized Cult) in the Shard

It would solve an ongoing issue that I’ve noticed

The TAC, TtLDTAC would be pulled together to address the “Through the Living Debate”, being a subcult of the existing cult.

They would compromise on what name to assign @Through The Living Grass. That way we can enact shenanigans upon his name sooner rather than later.

  20. Guys

i got SAT scores back I am happy

I got the highest score among my friends.

  21. Afterimage is essentially a Narrator in everything but nature—similar (but obviously limited, unlike a Narrator), but he adheres more to ordered power. His consciousness is kept within his protective Nullite (and he has a few backups. I thought very hard about how I could make him Narrator-proof a while ago…) but he occasionally projects drones that can do more precise tasks (not having to manage Nullite and the space they have to give it). anyways If I had to rank his nature, it would be Ordered. He’s got both Light and Dark Afterimage considered those that broke free. “Interesting.” He rose a hand, and a bitter cold rose. “I am curious how Entropy reacts when it is deprived of what it destroys.” A purple ring surrounded one of the escaped Withergeists, and the air around them—as well as the ground beneath them—disappeared. A force, detached from his construct, quickly accelerated them downwards into the pit. “Goodbye.” Hopefully it worked. He wasn’t quite sure how to deal with them.
  22. worth mentioning that the scribe and Afterimage are separate Afterimage nodded curtly, and dissipated before the flame could touch him. Meanwhile, he began neutralizing the Withergeists one at a time, as well as distracting them from other adventurers.
  23. @NameIess Afterimage, the ghost of Nullite left in place of the Scribe, burst into motion. A film of Nullite broke off, internal structure holding it up with intermediary lattices (in order to isolate the magic from the the Nullite) [which also owed to the clumsy, imprecise shaping of his body] as the film enveloped a number of Withergeists. Because he could not replicate Nullite like he could his own magic, Afterimage was only able to contain a few Withergeists. At the same time, he sent a drone—more defined and sharp than the Nullite construct that protected him— to communicate with another fighter. The drone took physical form, a perfect illusion of the man Afterimage used to be. The drone appeared to 9/10 @Through The Living Grass, regarding the wizard warily. “A luxsprite, eh? I still can decide if I qualify as Ordered Light…” Light began to pulse under his hand. “You need help?”
