  1. It was a Hasrathan monster, seeming to be a slightly bestial version of what Drin and Sain were. Strands extend to the other side, grounding and stopping it. The Strands extend towards you, piercing your clothing, but passing harmlessly through you. The creature is slightly confused.
  2. She snorted. “Anyone can say that.”
  3. The creature burst from the cage, a high pitched screech exiting its mouth. It dashed towards the nearest person (Cep), golden Strands extending from its body and boosting it forwards.
  4. The woman snorted. “Anyone can speak gibberish. I understand there’s another way to tell?” She seemed to know more than she should.
  5. Her eyes narrowed. “Right then. Prove it.”
  6. She frowned. “And why should I believe you?”
  7. The man lead them into the dining hall, which had been repurposed to habitats the survivors. “Most of the servants quarters and many rooms in the upper wings have collapsed. Or there’s a major draft… or a leak… well, we’ve reconvened here, anyways.” One of the survivors took the man’s arm, facing them. “Why are ya ‘ere now? I wan’t aware any knew of us.”
  8. He nodded. “I see. Come - let me introduce you to the rest of the survivors.”
  9. “I’m back. That lady… I don’t like her. She reminds me of my sister.” His voice wasn’t much steady.
  10. His face twitched. ”I understand.” His hand gripped something under his cloak as he turned away and returned to @Argenti.
  11. The man grinned. “Thank you. You might talk to the servants - though they’re less as such now, and more family.”
  12. He laughed. “Story of us all, in these cursed times. My food is your food, all that. Doesn’t matter anymore, what with our coal destined to run out.” He lead them into the manor. “Tell me! How is the world of the living? Is Ganare still in power?”
  13. The voice laughed. “I wouldn’t believe you, if I couldn’t see you. But your lack of fire speaks for itself.” The doors creaked open, groaning in protest as the warped wood scraped the frame. A man, skinny, smiled at them from within. “I only hope you aren’t thieves. Couldn’t stop you if I wanted to!”
  14. “Please try to say something when you talk. It makes you sound smarter.” He deliberated. “You’re wearing clothing befitting lords and ladies in a tavern, those two were glaring daggers at each other not long ago, and you just look worried. And in my experience, when a noble is worried, the lowly will starve. And when a noble is angry, the lowly will die. When it’s both…” He made a strange gesture with his fingers, like a cutting. “Usually it’s best to just stop the problem at its root.”
  15. They were slightly rotted, time worn and frozen. Upon their approach, a voice called out. “State your purpose?”
  16. Y’all! I’m so happy! I’ve got a cool new writing idea, and it’s based of Chinese Taoism

Oh that’s awesome, have you read the Tao? If not I’d recommend it, it’s a little hard at first but you get the hang of it and especially with the right translation you can feel the flow really well.

I'm a big fan of east-Asian religious history!! That one "I just didn't think heaven would be Chinese" audio...

Side note, every time my dad sees a western dragon he'd say "It's a magic animal, it doesn't need wings to fly. Asian dragons are like snakes, and can just fly because they feel like it. Asian dragons are better." I dunno what his beef with western fantasy tropes is but I love it

  17. He tipped his hat, then started the trek. They arrived at a run down manor; it was obviously still habituated, but in a state of disrepair. “This is where I must leave you.” He hesitated. “And when you talk to them, tell them what happened to Nikolas. Well - I’ve a myth to forge.” With that, he disappeared.
  18. He nodded. “Thank you… I think I will try to sleep, now.”
  19. He pulled up a stool, fingers twitching as he sat. “You see, when you say things like that, it makes it difficult to respect your secrets.”
