    "As I said. Turning the pain into a weapon was the wrong choice. I do not wish that on you. As for your life being full of bodies...well." A corpse appeared on the ground nearby, shadowed and unrecognizable. Then another. Then hundreds more, thousands, piling up all around, creating a wall around them, blocking out the light———and then they are gone again. "I know a thing or two about a past full of bodies. The weapon of pain causes only more pain. But the weapon is not the only tool. The pain can be wielded into anything. A shield, for example. To protect yourself. Or to protect others. They might die to protect you, yes; but they might also die without you. You have potential, though you do not recognize it. Where that potential goes is up to you. It hurts. It will always hurt. That pain is what marks you." He pauses. "Try this. I want you to use those connections. Reach out around. Feel what lies around you." As he speaks, he sends an invitation—and a plea—for Rebus ( @DragonHeir ) to join. Have you,, perchance, ever seen Now You See Me?

    Dark Cep grinned. There was no humor in the grin, no joy. It was the grin of a man who understood. "What's the point," he said. "What's the point in any of this. Why even stay here at all? It would be so easy to just Narrate yourself out of existence." He stared into Atlas's eyes. Then, suddenly, he shot forward until he was inches from her, holding her gaze the entire time. His eyes began to flicker as the story of his life played across them like a sped-up movie reel, moving years in a second. Fire. Pain. Death. Fire. Pain. Death. Love. Loss. Death. Repeat. Over and over again. Centuries. Minutes. All of it was the same. His voice dropped to a whisper, half calming, half menacing. "The point is what you do with it. The good, the bad, it makes you who you are. You have a good heart. Some would say despite what you went through. I say it is because of it. That shows strength. To not succumb to darkness, to keep hold of the light, is one of the most difficult things anyone can do. It makes you stronger than me, stronger than many who have gone before you. If you leave now, all those memories, all those connections, were for nothing. Your suffering was just that. Suffering. Pain. "Many take that path. It allows escape, and I cannot fault you for seeking that. But there is another. You take those memories, and you wield them. You wield them to whatever you want. I chose to wield the weapon, and we see how well that turns out. Pain turned against others takes its toll on the self as well. I got lost in the darkness. For a long, long time. But you...you have the potential to be better than I was. To claim that which made you who you are; to twist your fate to your design. It won't be perfect; pain is always present. But there are ways to deal with it. I can teach you, help you, if you wish, but for the most part I can merely be a guide, a waypoint to direct your path. You must choose to take the path. Know, though, that you do so with the support and love of many." Sequence's body disappeared, as did the lines. Then Atlas's body scattered out a myriad of connections, all bright. She could feel the connection to each and every one of them. Good? Bad?

    "This is what you know," Dark Cep said softly. "And this is what you don't." Suddenly, Sequence's entire body burst alight, so bright that her she became just a silhouette of light. Small lines of light extendedinto the distance in every direction. And two ended nearby. One at Dark Cep. And another at Atlas. Dark Cep poked at his line. "I never had direct contact with her, so my connection to her is small. Probably good, given that she would hate what I'm doing to you right now. "That," he says, gesturing to the shining string connecting to Atlas, "is your connection to her. She is dead, yes. Her connections, though, still exist. You carry that connection to her wherever you go."

    The space they were in seemingly stretched on to infinitybut if Atlas tried to move she found she couldn't really go anywhere. "Yes, that was maybe a tad too soon. She needed more preparation for that. You, however...we all agreed. My own experience is needed for this."

    Unfortunately, as she wasn't even really here in the first place, nothing happened. "I was trying to make her better. I see that I may have gone about it the wrong way. But it was not my intent to hurt her."

    Dark Cep sighed. "I see how I got that moniker. I promise you, child, I am no villain. I cannot claim to be a good guy, but I am not here to hurt you—at least, not with malice. I am here to help you." - Cep hears Erryin's cry, and smiled. He attempted to send something back to her, but Aeryn shook her head. "Tsk tsk," she said, her nails digging into his jaw. "We won't be having any of that." Cep felt the connection vanish. Again, he tried to ask. "Why?" Aeryn just stared at him, violet eyes unblinking and unmoving.

    Dark Cep watched. Considered. And reached. Part of Atlas was pulled into a smoky grey void. Before her stood a tall man with blond hair and violet eyes. "Hello, child," he said, with a sligvht, sad smile. Dark Cep and Asharak both simultaneously shivered. *scheiße - Somewhere, slightly in the Thread and slightly out of it—far enough removed that only someone like Rebus could see it, and closed off so that none but those invited could enter—Aeryn strode into a white void crosshatched with stark black lines, some thin as silk, others as thick as an arm. Behind her she dragged Cep, who, upon entering the fringes of the Thread, gasped and bowed his head, much as he could while being dragged. He felt her loss, and though he hadn't known her well, he had liked her. She was a good person. Aeryn threw him to the middle of the void, where chains grew to keep him in place. Cep stared at her, a mix of hope and anguish in his eyes, as she paced around him. "Aeryn," he said at last. "Why?" At the word, her head snapped toward him, violet eyes burning with malice. She became a brief blur, and then her head was around his throat, tilting his head this way and that, examining him with a cold detachment. Then she grinned. "Hello, brother." Her voice sent shivers down his spine. @Keke @Ashkaloda Erryin (and Taeidin has Thread awareness, right?) can sense that Cep is within the Thread, but no more than that. They can't see this happening. - Asharak stood. He had no time to waste. He suspected that the name of the Blade he sought would come to be accurate sooner than he wished. Something to drink. There was a creek nearby, but he dismissed that. It was too easy, and probably wasn't the best option. He wandered around the clearing, looking around and searching. Then he paused. There. That would do. High up in the trees, clusters of hairy coconuts grew. They seemed out of place with the scenery, but he had seen stranger. Asharak went over to one of the trees and looked up. He blinked and shifted himself up to the top of the tree- No. He was still on the ground. He tried again, to the same result. He groaned in frustration, then wrapped his arms around the trunk and started to climb. It was a slow endeavor, but at last he made it to the top. He reached out and knocked the hairy fruit out of the tree. Then he slid back down. He picked one up and cracked it to check, and, indeed, he found the liquid he sought inside. He carried one back to the house, cracked it open, and handed it to the old man, who took it without word and drank all of it. He nodded. "That will do. Thank you." He paused. "Now for your last task. Your counterpart is in trouble. You know this. You must find those who can help him. Before it is too late." With that, he leaned back in his chair, closed his eyes, and began snoring.
