    After a few tense moments, they almost have the door assembled. Then the smoke stills completely. It pulls back in front of them, revealing Cep, watching them with those piercing green eyes. "Found you," he says, sing-song.

    Aeryn. No i. And yes, I realized after I established it how similar it was. And yes. I'm somewhat killing time until Heir gets back because I kinda want her in the Thread before Cep, but if Cep winds up getting back first I can work with that. The attention immediately focused on them, but the surrounding Mindscape pulses slightly, the smoke fading slightly. The attention fades with it, but is noticeably growing stronger again. As they attempt to piece it together they find that Narration won't work on it. They have to attack each piece by hand. When two pieces are attached correctly, they fuse into one larger chunk.

    They feel a sense of acknowledgement, along with a warning to move quickly.

Well, I would say you don't, but you already drew his attention. Your only chance is to get the Mindscape to help you. You won't have long, though. He's almost got control of it.

    "I know a few..." Cep trails off, contemplating. "Any chance you've been to one with a Sandwich as a prominent figure?"

    "Not precisely. He explained as best he could. Unfortunately, he was always the part that could never explain well what he meant. When Cep shattered, I...directed the split of attributes. Asharak had the memories at first, but he later split into two, and the other part took the memories."

And as he did, the dog thought to himself, 'I doubt any dragon ever had it so good anyway.' " He smiled and met Kaladin's eyes. "It won't be like that for me," Kaladin said. "You told me it would get worse." "It will," Wit said, "but then it will get better. Then it will get worse again. Then better. This is life, and I will not lie by saying every day will be sunshine. But there will be sunshine again, and that is a very different thing to say. That is truth. I promise you, Kaladin: You will be warm again."

    Cep looks like his brain is melting. "Ah, but unfortunately I can't actually help with what he wants," the Father says. "You see, I don't have his memories. I never did."

    No. The Mindscape is in his head...but they're all Cep. This Cep has access to it right now, and is taking it over. At the moment it's mostly free and semi-sentient on its own. Soon it will be under his control though. It's somewhat more complicated than that, but that's the basics.

    The attention coalesces into the darker Cep. "You again. How did you get back in here?" He sounds amused, and a little excited. Cep looks really confused. "What was he lying about?" The Father just shakes his head. "I'm done arguing that point, believe what you will. Now, answer me. Why have you come here?"
