  1. I know it's harmonium and why it's not called Sazedium (personally Sazeium sounds better) but why is it called Ettmetal? I couldn't find anything on the topic.
  2. Oh he's still kicking... have you read Stormlight? I can't tell if I adore him or if I despise him, probably both
  3. I don't think it's gonna be inherently bleak, I just worry/know characters I care about are going to die.
  4. I feel like the spelling was mentioned somewhere in BoM but I could be totally making that up I made the mistake of spending a bunch of time on cosmere things and accidentally got spoiled for Warning: BIG Spoilers for Oathbringer, Rhythm of war, and The Lost Metal.

    Lerasium

Maybe it could make someone a mistborn then, but why not eat the lesarium at that point. May be more useful for feruchemy then.
  7. HAH I LOVE THIS
  8. This is quite an interesting theory, hmmm
  9. The fact that a year later, there are still only three bondsmiths is epic
  10. Don't forget to cover safehands! I also think a safehand pouch in the sleeve of a havah would be so cool, I don't know if anyone has done that before. https://stormlightarchive.fandom.com/wiki/Vorin_Havah More on Havahs
  11. Shard bat, Shardtwig, Shardbook (All stormlight books combined for maximum bludgeoning power)
  12. I think I had Nicrosil and maybe Bronze there too, but I wanted the more random ones because I found it amusing. I spelled Duralumin that way because in my head it's pronounced dur-ay-lee-um (dunno where that idea came from)
  13. When on your chemistry test you have to "name an alloy" so you name the following: Bendalloy, Duralium, and Electrum
  14. You might be on to something, I don't know enough about death rattles to talk confidentially besides knowing one of the unmade is behind them (Molelach) Here's a list of some death rattles with interpretations below them to make it easier, I don't know if you've gone through it yet. Looking through it, what is given about the people may be deliberate, such as some are saying occupations, most have ages, or other things listed. It's quite interesting. Back to the Black piper. Cenn's death rattle for reference. How did this death rattle become recorded? Was it from Kaladin? Must be, he was the only one to survive the incident. Then there's this (bolded what stood out to me) Is Cenn's Death Rattle sample 1172-89? There is no 1172 death rattle 89 seconds before death, so what is the 89 for? Anyway, back to Cenn. "Playing a tune no man can hear" may refer to rhythms listeners hear, considering no man can hear them. I don't know what did is considered hearing the Rhythms of Roshar, but regardless she isn't a man. That segment from what I grasp would not point to Kaladin. "He holds us in his palm" may refer to a deity of some sort, I would assume Odium. Honor is long dead and I don't think this is referencing the stormfather. "He watches!" may once again, refer back to Odium. Or the stormfather. Last thing, "Dai-gonarthis!" from the second sample does not sound Alethi to me.
  15. Rhythm of War is out there causing injuries
  16. I play softball and I think to myself "Pick up the ball with your freehand! Not your safehand" This, except I was finishing Rhythm of War and when I was done it was 5:30am and I somehow had subluxated (partially dislocated) my shoulder. I am okay, my shoulder is currently where it's supposed to be
  17. Poo-pee-ay-nus? (Latin student here who can't pronounce things)
  18. As I progress in Oathbringer I've realized they actually may be a commonplace as Nazh notes that horneater lager is the reason he got a tattoo
  19. I assume (Alenthi) men wouldn't get writing on them, right? Just glyphs? Unless they got like "I love you" in woman's script for their wives or something.
  20. I agree with this! I'm a little over 40% of the way through Oathbringer, so yes, I've gotten to that point! I think drunk tattoos/firemoss tattoos or even tattoos through dares may eventually become more commonplace, I'm sure someone on Roshar has one. There may not be foolish oaths, but Adolin tattooing the names of his girlfriends (before he met a certain someone) knowing how fast he went through them is stupid. For general culture, I feel like I don't know enough about Rosharians besides a few specific ones. So I can come up with some specific tattoos for characters (Just thought about Adolin getting his sword tattoed.) Some general tattoo ideas: Family glyphs/crests (are family crests a thing?) Glyphs in general I agree that maybe spren would be tattooed I imagine these tattoos to be of a stick and poke manner, ridiculous detail is likely rare--not to mention expensive. Side note: Is tattooing a feminine or masculine art?
  21. I never thought about this! I would say things significant to them? Like (I don't think he's one for tattoos) but if he was, Dalinar would get his brother's last words on him. If it would actually stay, Kaladin would get Tien's date of death or a pretty looking rock (are color tattoos a thing?). I feel like the Alethi wouldn't be big fans of meaningless tattoos. But I'm no worldhopper so I have no idea.
  22. When you try to write an interconnected series of (fantasy) books and realize it's starting to become a knock-off cosmere complete with world hoppers (except the mechanics are a little different)
  23. Welcome!
  24. When you friends [who have never read Sanderson] start dreaming about reading his books
