  1. Isn't the next book "Stones Unhallowed", or has that changed? If not, then looks like he'll get his shardplate in the next book.
  2. Wasn't he refering to the sibling and the Nightwatcher here?
  3. Hasn't he taken responsibility by the end of the book? He's confessed to Shallan and Dalinar.
  4. I think it far more likely that Dalinar will reunite the splinters of Honor back into one Shard and then Ascend into Godhood.
  5. Do you know the chapter name? I'd like to go back and reread this. I'm completely blanking on this conversation.
  6. We're talking about the fate of an entire nation and hundreds of thousands, if not millions of people. If their destruction is not enough to inspire the disbandment of the Knights Radiant then I don't see what could.
  7. I agree with this and think we can pinpoint the "nuclear action" that was the breaking point for the Knight's Radiant. The destruction of Stormseat and the formation of the Shattered Plains. We know this occured after the Last Desolation, so how else could it have occured but through the actions of the Knights Radiant? This is likely also the reason that all the other capitals can not be accessed by Oathgate from Urithiru, they barred the way in fear after Stormseat's destruction. Surely the destruction of Stormseat and much of Natanatan would have caused most of the Knights Radiant to become extremely disillusioned and willing to disband themselves. It also explains Nale's belief that surgebinders and the Knights Radiant must be prevented from rising once more, for when they turned on each other they were as devestating as a desolation.
  8. It depends on the social system and culture in question. Many historical cultures have viewed revenge as honorable. The Aztecs and the other peoples of central Mexico viewed the flower wars as honorable, and those were ritualistic wars designed to capture your opponents for human sacrifice rather than killing them on the field. Whatever resulted from a merging of the two would I think be something dark given that Odium seems stronger than Honor and they are not two perfectly opposing ideals like preservation and ruin. The result wouldn't be a balanced outcome, but something that D&D would classify as lawful evil. If you wanted Righteousness you'd have to merge Honor and Devotion.
  9. I think the biggest factor in choosing who to represent the Knights Radiant is that there is a huge war on. The coming Desolation is on scale beyond anything that anyone living (sans the heralds) has ever experienced. Dalinar is renowned across Roshar as the unstoppable warrior known as the Blackthorn and respected as the most honorable of the Alethi Highprinces. Only a small tenth of a percent of the population will ever interact with Dalinar in any significant way. For the vast, vast majority he will simply be the leader of the Knights Radiant and the de facto ruler of Alethkar, the world's most powerful Kingdom. For them, Dalinar is most important as a symbol, they have to believe in him and the Knights who have scorned as traitors for thousands of years. They have to believe he is capable and willing to protect them. With his reputation as a general, warrior and honorable man, Dalinar is the best person for the job. As for the people who will interact with him, the Highprinces and lesser nobles of Alethkar respect his martial power, and will likely be a bit in awe of him after this latest battle and transformation. He's proved his visions are real. Sadeas has conveniently died. None of them are likely to openly oppose him for some time. As for Kings and nobles from elsewhere, they will know his reputation generaly, and their view of him will greatly increase once the Everstorm has circled the world once. He should be able to work with them.
  10. You know, that's a good idea, I like it.
  11. I hope that all, or at least all but one of the nine, are dead. Narratively it's a much stronger tale if the protagonists are striving to replace such legendary heroes rather than simply find them. I hope that heralds are only "immortal" as long as they keep the Oathpact, that the Nine that gave up lived normal mortal lives, died, and avoided get sent to a torture filled afterlife.
  12. Hi goons, welcome aboard!
  13. Been a big Jordan since '94-95ish. Heard about Brandon when he was picked to finish WoT, and have come to really like his stuff, even though his writing style is quite a bit different than Jordan's.
  14. She's good.
  15. I know this forum is new, but I'm still amazed that this name was available.
