Hi!
I am 26yo, work as a software engineer, and for the past 2 years I refused to read anything but Brandon.
I finally finished all published Cosmere books and I can't wait to start theorizing some (apparently not so) insane ideas about the future of the Cosmere!
Welcome my fine fellow! do you perhapes enjoy the delectable world of J. R. R. Tolkien as much say... a crem brulee?

Welcome to the Shard!
100% can relate to this
My younger self hard-bounced off LotR at first until I made my way through the Hobbit and wanted to follow Bilbo more.
It took me about 4 years to get through the entirety of Tolkien's works and now I love them unlike any other books on the planet (apart from the Bible). Also is the WoT a series worth finishing? I'm on book 2 and to be honest, its a bit monotonous.

Hello there! I'm just a quirky person who loves musicals, DnD, and SA! I'm just excited to join in on discussions and theories. Nice to meet y'all! I just finished Rythmn of War and have already started up a bit of Wind and Truth. I love Sanderson's work so far and can't wait to see the rest of the Cosmere and beyond!
Greetings my fine fellow! Have you perhaps read the Tapestry series by Henry H. Neff?

Hey all,
here's the output of the last two months! Whenever I dive into a new fandom, I do it head-first, and the amount of art I make is the clearest indicator of how deep I'm in. I'd say I'm in very deep. And there's still so much on my list that wants to be drawn!
All these were done in Procreate, using my own watercolour brushes.
Dang! these are beautiful!

Oh, and I will fight everyone in a duel for the title of #1 Wit Fan. That's all.Greetings my fine fellow! Do you prehapes enjoy the wonders and glory of J. R. R. Tolkien?

Ok, so I did a bit of research and as far as I can tell, there is nothing we can do legally to make the Red Book of Westmarch without infringing on Tolkien Estates copyright license UNTIL 2044 when all assets of Tolkien Estate become public domain.
Hey! Great news... kinda. So I was doing some more research and found that the Tolkien Estate copyright expired in 2023 in New Zealand. I don't know weather or not that means you have to be a legal born New Zealand citizen to take advantage of it or what but interesting information none the less. Maybe we could find someone on the Shard that is from NZ that would be willing to help.

I'll see what I can do... Maybe I'll even throw 3 little rings in as a bonus or something. A ring of fire perhaps?

I honestly don't know how to approach them on such a matter. It probably would require consulting a lawyer about it - I really don't know how any of this works.
when I get some time, I'll take a gander at the laws and other jargon of this matter.

Hello everyone! Some info about me: my favorite character is Sazed, my Radiant order is Truthwatcher leaning towards Windrunner and I am from the East coast of the United States. I'm in high school and have read the entire published Cosmere except for White Sand and The Sunlit Man. I have also read Skyward.
Welcome my fellow American! Do you prehapes enjoy to world of Middle Earth and Tolkien?

@PianoSavant, @GjornHrathen, @KnightSkye, @Annatar, @TwinStorm.
To the uninitiated: this is an idea for a highly theoretical project that will only be possible once the copyright for both the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit are free. I'm not sure about the particular legal details of it all, so this is a thing to consider, but I'm not putting the Silmarillion into consideration because due to the fact it was heavily edited by Christopher, I believe it's not going to enter the public domain until decades after LotR and the Hobbit.
That said: the basic idea is to have a leatherbound edition combining the Hobbit and LotR, and presenting them in a way that would look like the canonical Red Book of Westmarch. That would include things like five crossed out titles, for example, and possibly other things I can't think of right now - changing fonts between different writers, perhaps, and such things. Further suggestion will be accepted, it's all still in a very theoretical phase.
Things I can think of the top of my head that need to be done include planning to content exactly, finding a publishing house that works with binding books in leather and figuring out how to start a kickstarter. Considering we have just about 20 years, it shouldn't be too hard to figure all this out. Finding what to do in the meantime might be more pressing.
In theory, convincing the Tolkien estate or someone who has the appropriate rights to do something like this (and no, I don't mean a matching paperback set of Tolkien books in which LotR has a red cover. That's not the Red Book) could speed things up - but I have about 0 faith in the possibility of actually convincing them, so for now we wait.
Finding a lawyer expert on copyright laws is probably also a good idea. Or finding data about it in general.
Do you think Tolkien estate would be convinced at the possiblity of profit from it? If so than we might want to approach with caution as they might take the idea that you created and turn it for themselves and hike the price higher than necessary.

Huh. So we're five people now.
Honestly, there's still some time until this becomes relevant in any way, and I myself don't really know how to go about doing this, but it's great to hear that it interests people!
I'd consider starting a PM or something, but I'm not sure I have much to say currently.
There are a bunch of people I'm in contact with that might be interested in something like this. I'll ask them about it.

Hi, folks! I have been working on a Stormlight Archive Fanfiction, and could use a beta reader or two. I am not sure if this is an acceptable place to ask? If not, I will delete as directed! Currently at over 8K and the outline has another 30 or so chapters thus far. I am a first time reader and very much in over my head.
Summary:
When the battle for the Oathgate in Shadesmar takes a deadly turn, everything starts to unravel - kingdoms, alliances, even families. Now the fate of Roshar depends on a princeling's sewing lessons.
“Darning socks is easy, my little light. There are other things - hearts, and minds, and people - that are far harder to mend. But you have clever hands, and a gentle heart…”
“And a needle?” Adolin said, beaming and holding up the little sewing kit in a chubby hand.
Evi smiled.
“And a needle."
---
Just to add: this will have a great deal to do with Adolin reviving Maya and the "resurrection" of Deadeyes influencing the attitude of spren toward forming new bonds.
Hey man, I would love to help! I love writing and helping others do so. just P.M. me the link or however you want to do this.

I Thought it was an amazing and well-done book with a healthy combination of cosmere characters. my only qualm with the book was the main antagonist and side characters. the Cider King (a cool name though) was an under done and half-baked villain with very little detail and story. Of all the secret projects I have read, it would probably be 3rd. with Yumi being first and Tress 2nd

I would just varnish it/stain it some nice, natural color. Highlight the wood, rather than hiding it, if you know what I mean. I think it's really pretty as-is, so just touching that up and bringing out the grain would be my preferred choice, if I were the craftsman.
Alright, I'll see what I can do. Thank you.

Only three pounds? What kind of wood is it? Also super excited that you did Sunraiser, its my favorite shardblade
Yep! its pure Cherry wood. and same, I love Sunraiser because it reminds me a lot of a mix between a Scottish Claymore and a Zweihander.

This looks amazing. How much does it weigh and are you planing on engraving the Glyphs that are on Sunraiser
I would add stain to the handle and guard to make it more distinct from the blade. On the blade itself I would add clear varnish just to protect it and bring out the natural colors. Whatever you do it’s still going to be an amazing work of art and an awesome conversation starter
it weighs almost 3 pounds, and yes I'm going to put the glyphs on the blade with a wood burner. alright I will look into the color pattern, thank you!
