  1. Rebus nods thoughtfully. “I was thinking it could be instantaneous, so door would be closer than trains… I’ll think on it.” “That sadly means we cannot give the Render a power up. I do not communicate into Ragnorok, but I - or, the original, rather - can read the Thread, which communicates out. And the Dreamsmith makes you an item that fulfills your stated needs if you can pass Omen’s trial. You cannot communicate out of the trial, however, so all your plans would have to be on hold or handled by deputies.”
  2. Rebus grins and begins to brainstorm what form his transportation nodes should take. Rebus prime raises an eyebrow, unperturbed. “Evidently your information networks are insufficient, both about me and about your quarry. Can your Narration-resistant material be affected by telekinesis?”
  3. Rebus shrugs. “You’re right. I do want to use the idea though, as a test for Abstract. Maybe I’ll set up a transportation network.” Rebus prime projects a hologram of the fate of Atredies’s assassins over his upturned palm, and smirks slightly. Ah. That does make sense. Where did those Plotblades actually get found, anyway? I heard Plotblades were often quested for. Malevolence’s message is received, but not responded to.
  4. Endings is the most dangerous, but Protagonist and Antagonist are supposedly the most powerful. You see, protagonists almost always win in the end, and antagonists almost always have substantially more power than the protagonist. Also, how dare you read my secret mission instructions!
  5. That copy of Rebus stays a box on the wall, Narrating whatever Parasite’s interface requires. Rebus sees the wisdom in the preparations, but wonders who the announcement was for. @NameIess Malevolence gets a secret message.
  6. The body of this version of Rebus crumbles away, leaving a small CPU-like box, complete with pulsing orange lights. Rebus, standing behind the Scribe, smiles. “Space efficient. Just Narration and a chunk of my soul. You can put me in the wall, I suppose.” “The removal of the Narration was not the counter against your Plotblade. What may be is indeed not truth, but it does involve planning. Thus, what is to be done with me and what I am to do is separate from the main machination of the original.” He smirks. Which Rebus is the Foreshadowing string tracking? What does that do?
  7. No, the second Rebus is supposed to be always controlled by the Notblade so the security system can Narrate.
  8. Rebus waits with Afterimage, ready to non-Narratively teleport him to Rebus prime, should there be a need to do so. “Yes… a warning, then temporary expulsion, then permanent expulsion, then imprisonment, in order of harshness. Ennullers potentially have more resources to imprison people, anyway.” A second version of Rebus appears near the Interface. “Alright, you’re supposed to mind control me?”
  9. “Yes - I shall advertise as well. Should we have a cost to enter, stay, use resources there, or some combination of those three? If so, I think it should be something whimsical, like to share or give something that belongs to you. Your name, your time, your pocket lint, your story, your hat, your vorpal sword… it doesn’t matter what it is, as long as it is yours.”
  10. Dr. Warren does what she said, getting people elsewhere in the system to take some measurements.
  11. “I concur. If someone within the grounds of Entoturis causes intentional injury, permanently takes possession of another’s belongings without permission, or a similar action as agreed upon by the two of us - with the Scribe breaking ties, they are either imprisoned or expelled from Entoturis.” Rebus quickly retcons his own contributions, having believed they hadn’t yet started. “I have completed my part, or at least what I have thought of so far.” Rebus shrugs at Afterimage. “You may be right. But a preemptive strike would be idiocy unless we learn that Devastation actually wants to harm us.”
  12. “Interesting. I’ll have people look for any traces of your tunnel.”
  13. She laughs slightly. “How would you do such a thing? We could potentially place tracers in cells, but we cannot determine where they came from in the past. Hyperwakes, on the other hand… when did you come here?”
  14. Rebus shrugs. “I don’t see how we would enforce that, or even decide upon what qualifies. Preventing active combat seems a much more reasonable goal.” Oh yeah, I do remember that. Afterimage is made from the Casts, then? “Yes, that makes sense. Minister is a decent placeholder term, I suppose. I believe Parasite can be rebalanced to a reasonable level, however.” “Interesting… what would we be ready for, other than fighting if there is a fight? Nothing bad has happened yet.”
  15. Dr. Warren nods. “Is there anything you believe I can fix?”
  16. “Yes… that is not something I myself am allowed to help with. The Render specifically counters Kion, who is being actively nerfed to prevent him from simply using a spell like annihilation, decapitation, or obliteration.” “I suppose a conspiracy between the two of you would be required to actually turn me against me, though I am still slightly reluctant.” “I am unsure. It could be a useful contingency to prepare.” “I will build similar controls into the portion of the security I am responsible for as well. What do you mean by a minister of Entoturis?”
  17. How well do we want life support and resource circulation to work? Can ships produce their own food?
  18. “Your blade… well, I can help you with that. There’s a monster made of stone, in the Endless Fields, known as the Render. Go talk to it, and it will gladly attack that group.” The real Rebus realize the issue with apostrophes, and resolves to write out prime instead.
  19. “Rebus’ is me; Rebus’s personality and resources without Narration or his soul. He - I - did that to prevent your blade from revealing the truth of the machinations he is organizing. I am unsure what I will do with me.” Rebus’’s collar poofs into utility fog, forcing the hand back. Rebus’ smiles in an intentionally frustrating manner. “Let’s not escalate this to violence. How are you today?”
  20. “I will do so. I do hope we can have a pleasant relationship, even if you oppose the original on principle.” ‘Rebus’ smiles at the inkling. “There’re new Narrators around, of course. The real Rebus, the Scribe, Lady Bug, Faunus, Fael, and Tam are ones I can think of off the top of my head. Bacon is still here, as are Subversion, Sequence, and likely others. There are some antagonistic Narrators, namely Atriedies. I’ve likely forgotten someone, but Rebus will not tell me.”
  21. Kion ducks backwards. “Protection!” He surrounds the group in shimmering shields, but that sword looked like it would punch through in a few hits. But he’s so panicked he cannot think of other spells to use.
  22. Kion’s eyes go wide with alarm. He stammers slightly but says. “Stop right there or I - someone - can kill you.”
  23. Rebus sighs. “Very well. Could you at least give me a shut-down button?” Rebus is creating a copy of him and having the security system mind control him to direct his Narration. Why he is doing that is thus far unclear, though I do know. “The copy of me there has removed his own Narration, and is a sanitized copy, as I mentioned. But yes, he can very much steal Narration.” “My plans? Did I not just tell you I would not reveal my machinations?” He raises an eyebrow. “And regardless, if you were to look, you’d see I am no longer a Narrator. All I have is my nanotechnology, teleporter, and a real Narrator me sending me information.”
  24. I should be going to sleep (I must wake up early tomorrow). But I’m not. Rebus mentioned it, actually. “I believe if Devastation has contact with the power, he can siphon it into himself and is empowered, temporarily or permanently causing the victim to lose their magic and/or soul.” Rebus smiles. “Your Author has a tendency to name people the same thing. I am similar to what you described, but I never died. My sanitized copy - I got the idea from you actually - might. He should sleep now, as I am not speaking well.” “And if I am to be mind controlled, I would like the ability to turn it off, at least.”
