    Rebus raised a eyebrow, disappearing just before he was crushed. The copy behind Utility attempted to hit his core with the Plotblade.

    Rebus was suddenly behind him, stabbing Magnificent Bastard at his back. (He was also still in front of him)

    You alright? If you need anything, feel free to ask. The echoing footsteps sped up faster and faster, blending together into a roaring sound. You're right - I should get on with it. Rebus's teleporter activated, opening a gate to his moon. "You'll be safe there - there's going to be some collateral damage!" He ensured all the hostages were untied, throwing a few more utility fog spears to stall.

    Rebus grinned. "Oh, I'm not trustworthy in the slightest - though I do not lie if I can help it."

    The echoing footsteps continued to sound. Rebus's bearing had changed, when he brought the Narration back into himself. He was more purposeful, confident, almost assured that he would win. Though he had Narrated a teleporter to the corner of the cavern, so maybe he wasn't completely confident. Rebus, deciding it was probably the ground and not the rock he'd destroyed, met the liquid rock with a wall of utility fog and leapt into the air. He had a short staff in his hand, having drawn it from his belt and pointed it at Utility in the blink of an eye. It was humming with energy, clearly capable of firing some form of projectile from the way Rebus held it.

    "Are you here to fight? I can do that, or monologue about magic, or help with a story. I'm a fairly versatile guy, after all." "I don't especially want to escape, considering this is a place I escaped to, but I'd gladly come with you."

    My wrist, you say? Rebus assumes that is meant for him, and easily fixes his wrist and rolls, springing back to his feet.

    Rebus sent utility fog at it, which knocked it away and then consumed the projectile.

    "Yes, the classic: deluding yourself into having magic powers." Rebus catches his fist, moving inhumanly fast.

    Rebus smiled. “Very well. Do you know where we are? I’ve heard the Labyrinth suppresses powers, so I’ll need to determine whether my powers should be suppressed or not.”

    “We don’t. If you have another activity in mind, I would gladly take part.”

    Very well. Rebus sent several spears of utility fog towards him, lighting them up in orange to give Utility a chance to dodge and the spectators knowledge of them.

    Rebus summons his Plotblade, Magnificent Bastard. “I’m from The Longest Thread, originally. It’s a very nice place, in my opinion, but some fresh air and non-canon shenanigans is a good break.”

    Rebus is through this door, sitting in a swivel chair. He spins around dramatically, smirking. “So, you’ve found me. I assume you’re here to fight.”

    I’ll respond to that and Utility at the same time. Unrelatedly, Rose is still in a vision. As Rose walked, her footsteps continued echoing loudly. They were out of sync with her steps, around three audible steps for every two she took. “Because they’re people. Because they fear us, and I want to show them not every Narrator is evil. Because no matter what I did, I couldn’t not notice your actions. Because they may hold the secret to fix me, and the world. Because you’re a challenge. Because nobody else cares enough to stop you. Because I was here.” By the way, have you developed any self preservation yet? I can spare your mind, if you wish. The stone became power armor around her - its strength could easily break her and it from the ground.

    Rebus sighed. “Unfortunately I am. I’ve been looking for ways to make the power go away; releasing it to bring the creation - without the chaos and change in mentality - to everyone. To build a paradise where everyone can have anything they want at their fingertips, instead of a place where people live in fear of those granted far more power than any should have.” Rebus raised an eyebrow, suddenly surrounded in so much utility fog it made the air blurry. It began cutting through bonds and removing venom from the captives. “I can’t leave them here to suffer. You are a disgrace to your abilities, a monster who is only here to terrorize the innocent. I stand against you - for myself, and for them.”

    “$&@%#!” Rebus said, showing off his ability to pronounce symbols. He set his face, briefly turning to the scientist (@Halcyon The Only). “Listen - I’m sorry, but I lied to you. I think you will understand why. Narration is too much power for any person, but sometimes that’s needed. I understand that you fear these powers - and I do too, frankly - but I think I have no choice but to take them up again. If you do not trust me after this, I’ll leave, and do my best to keep anyone from bothering you again.” “A power well-aligned with myself, my task, and the Thread: emergence. It is a powerful force, and the ability to manipulate it is well worth sacrificing the redundant portions of Narration for.” “That can be true without being a reason to forgo it. Magic and technology together are more options than only magic - every bit counts.” Rebus wondered where he fit into the projection - he could see himself taking many paths in such a future.

    The cavern, other than that, was dead silent. Even the footsteps were unsettling, though it wasn’t immediately obvious what was off about them. Rebus, freed from his bonds, hurried over and cut hers by hand, the glasses at worryingly low power. “I did try to tell you I was prepared for this. Let’s recuse these people, and then get out of here!” Actually, she’d still be paralyzed. That could be a problem.

    Well, if you recall the spider thing can sense technology. I'm unsure how smart it is - Rebus might simply get poisoned and tied up again and again. Honestly, it's up to you, though I kinda want to wait for Haly to respond.

    Rebus showed up somewhere, grinning. “I’ve escaped! Technically this is non-canon, but still - I’ve made it outside the Wall! And since this isn’t canon…” Purple lines began to crackle around him, splitting into fractals.

    @Halcyon The Only Rebus’s glasses frames bisected, yielding four spidery legs which it used to climb off his face. It proceeded to begin cutting the web entangling him. The orb was… not happy exactly, but pleased to be able to serve a purpose. “What are my responsibilities?”

    Yeah, probably - where'd the spider put them? Rebus began to pace. "We should still do it, of course. Perhaps if Malevolence finally activates the teleporter, we can speak with the rabbits. But for now, my Author has created a magic system concept, which would assist in discovering new creatures." Rebel pretended to search around in his bag, which created a laser weapon for him. He pointed it at something unimportant, which combusted. "If your technology is useless, it sound like you might be interested in my better technology." Meat's vision follows trippy dream logic - this is somewhere Rose recognizes, and if she moves around she'll probably be somewhere else she recognizes, but places won't connect the same way. Kion hustled behind him, ready to yell distraction at any who noticed them.

    @Halcyon The Only Rose finds herself in a familiar place. It’s not any particular place, though it has features of many. @Through The Living Glass, we need you to advance the cavern plot. “The one I encountered could speak, though not perfectly. I think I can either trick or legitimately bargain with them, but it needs to be immediate.” Rebel shrugged. “I don’t know - it depends what’s causing them. I can distort technological teleportation signals, and have the blueprints to scale that up.”

    Rebus smiled. “I’m glad rational, cooperative self interest prevails in at least one of my friends. The rabbits are effectively unreasonable - I believe continuous motivation is necessary as they have no sense of honor.” Rebel looked alarmed at the warp. “I am a merchant, though that’s mostly to finance my travels. I shouldn’t be much trouble - in fact, I may be able to resolve some of it.”
