  1. “Simple; hurt them first. You do it already, you know.” Rebus pretended to frown disapprovingly. “Many variations of it involve desecration of the dead or mind controlling a spirit, and many would argue that is morally wrong.” He grinned. “Naturally, I have no problems with it.”
  2. Rebus, who never had control in the first place, began reforming from the dust. “Ow.” He said flatly as nanomachines crawled across his face, slotting into place and restoring it. “That being said, you’ll have to go smaller than dust if you want to kill a cyborg made from nanotechnology.” Rebus smiled at him. “Regardless, I did not intend to insult you. This copy of me is as fundamental as will exist in this non-canon universe. Unless you would like to move the prime clone from TLT, or fight a raw idea, this is the best you are going to get. Each copy of me has the same power unless I specifically impair it, and if you desire me to destroy all the others to be the only one to fight me, I must sadly disappoint you. It took me a lot of effort to get here, and I’d rather not waste it by dying completely or being stuck feeling every moment as I wait for you to act.” He smiled again, summoning his Plotblade into one hand. “I truly may not be a match for you, but I predict I can put on a good fight. I have rules to follow, you see.” @WhiteHairedDrifter
  3. “I’m as real as you: not very. And I understand the only way to not get hurt. So there.” Rebus smiled broader. “Do you have any goals we could accomplish? Working on my goals would defeat the purpose, of course.”
  4. “Says the one talking to a mirror in a dream in a vision made by an insane ghost of a Narrator who isn’t even real. I at least understand what’s real and what isn’t.” The reflection sneered at her, but she knew from her own personality that hurt lay behind those angry eyes. Rebus smiled. “Actually, I can help with that. We should go on a quest, or even just a walk - it’ll get you more screen time, which will get you more attachment and character development. And it lets me wait for Cricket to come back.”
  5. Rebus would like to note that Malevolence ruling the world qualifies as an extinction event, as does the release of the Witherlord. Rebus himself might even cause an apocalypse of some sort. The reflection imitated her, still influenced by her motions. You shut up! "I do try to be insightful and interesting." Rebus smiled. "It's one of the best ways to stay alive, I've found."
  6. She quickly ran into another mirror, which manifested a reflection pointing a sword at her. Get out! Go away! I don't need you! the reflection growled - more a impression than a sound, but angry just the same. "I did have some help, though the credit should probably go to my Author, who as far as I know has no magic swords to enhance his planning."
  7. That would be much less helpful to him, but still rather amusing. The reflection looked more hopeful, getting close to a shy smile. Rebus smiled. "This one, at least. Effectively I've made every choice they could make benefit me."
  8. The alone mirror felt even more abandoned, especially since Rose was right. The mirrors appeared to go on forever in both directions. The floor repeated, though - a particular pebble in the same spot over and over. Hmm. The fact I'm this good at physiological warfare is a little alarming. (Bat is wrong, actually - Rebus would love it if Tam and Bat claimed Antagonist, thus keeping it out of Malevolence's hands)
  9. "I do as well, honestly. You're interesting to have around." I agree with Rebus, but need to sleep now.
  10. Rebus was pretty sure she'd care about this... But of course, it wasn't yet time, and pointless threats were a waste of resources.
  11. "I'll fight them, perhaps, but not right now. Welcome back, though."
  12. "Regardless, are you here to fight? I hear there's ten or so hills to be king of."
  13. "He's not nearly omnipotent enough, anyway. His master, though, is in some ways the one who started this."
  14. "Well, half my threats haven't come to fruition yet, so I'll simply smirk at you and disappear, leaving you to wonder what my plans could possibly be - and how to stop them." He then did as he said.
  15. “Of course - I don’t get any benefit if you don’t know the collateral damage fighting me would cause. And threats, especially of this type, certainly seem antagonistic. I have a few more set up, actually.” Yeah, I’ll go with that version, cause lashing out is covered by one of the other mirrors. The girl in the mirror looks down at her feet. It wasn’t true, what this stranger was saying. She was alone.
  16. Tim? The hunchback, or another? Rebus, since his powers are now active, directly addresses the non-canon question. “Not yet - the point of this is to provide epic fights between effectively omnipotent characters, presumably because it was cluttering other threads.”
  17. "Oh, I won't harm them at all. I'm not a complete monster. But if someone wants to kill me, well..."
  18. "They'll be perfectly safe there. Any attempt to harm me or my guests is countered by the defense system, which is so modular you'd have to destroy the entire moon to get through." Rebus waited, seeing if she made the connection. What would she do, if she felt helpless and someone said that to her?
  19. The reflection whimpered, acting actually out of synch for the first time. "Oh, keeping them safe. On my moon. Where the prime copy of me and all my important research is." Rebus continued smiling.
  20. "You can't, actually - the best you can do is #@$%^. But regardless, I solved Bat's very objection. I've done something awful without hurting anyone." He grinned mockingly. "You simply brought it upon yourself."
  21. The reflection reached out, seeming tentative even though it mirrored her actions. Oh yeah. Hmmm - I suppose Rebus's new plan will have to wait.
  22. Rebus shrugged, then left. He watched Bat and Tam fight with amusement, glad his plan had worked. Then, realizing he could sow yet more conflict, he teleported to Cricket (@TwinStorm). On the mirror behind her, she looked more hopeful, younger, and a bit afraid, as if worried she would leave. This mirror lacked a reflection of the contemptuous reflection.
  23. Rebus, having planted a tracker while he was being thrown to the ground, walked through the Labyrinth in the direction of Ice.
  24. Rebus didn’t actually care too much, but it’d probably be worth it at least to try. @Halcyon The Only, Rebus in the caverns hovered in the air using utility fog, teleporting away the rock separating him from those trapped in the lower caverns. The mirror is a mirror, weird as it is. The reflection of her thus said shut up while she was. The reflection of her in the first mirror (which is now behind her, since she turned around) is not visible in the second mirror.
