  1. Uh, which sure? Actually, I need to sleep, but maybe Jack can be the second person they scare.
  2. Rebus began to chuckle, though he did not stop any of the attacks. “I see you are formidable, but you seem to underestimate me. Magnificent Bastard is no mere sword, just as I am no mere man. Are you aware of your fictionality?” Rebus raised an eyebrow at the newcomer. He supposed he wouldn’t begrudge a distraction, even if it removed a potential power source in the process. “In some ways, they are related. The greatest source of power for us are our Authors, and their willingness to concede to valid actions or refuse and make battles unfair.”
  3. I have a new character in mind, actually, if you’re not too attached to whomever you were thinking. Alternately I can set up a different plotline with either this new character or Rebus.
  4. Rebus appeared, having decided to look after Symbol’s plans during her Author’s absence. “Corruption was a set of powers she created that modified her outlook - we killed it when she realized what she was doing.”
  5. That’s why I posted here - it seems useful and I don’t want people to forget it. Anyway, I’m going to see if I can have my 504 back; they removed it because the teacher was already giving the accommodations needed. Unfortunately, this year my new teachers aren’t, so I’m having to comprehend discussion questions like “What is a myth you tell about yourself, and would you change it?”, and my teacher told me to “just try to answer it”. Grr… ADHD productivity levels are not making this any better, either.
  6. Enjoy your hiatus; get your life under control. I’ll be here when you’re ready. *melancholy smile, hug* Rebus reverently took Symbol’s block of ice, bringing it to the center of his moon, where she would be safe.
  7. Hi everyone! I just had a neuropsych today, though I’m already diagnosed with autism and ADHD. I thought I’d bring this thread back, as it seems useful.
  8. Even if she was being blackmailed to turn Rose into a monster? Tam snarled. It’s NOT fake! You’ve been out of the vision for weeks! The birds began to peel off the pages, becoming three-dimensional. “Ah. In that case, shall we continue our tour?”
  9. “*raises eyebrow*” Rebus said, pronouncing the asterisks perfectly. He then did as he said he would.
  10. Tam gritted her teeth. He charged an entire army to try and save you. They killed him, and now they’ll kill Bat too unless I turn you in. I’m sorry. “It would help, yes. Perhaps we should send someone to Lady Bug so your Author cannot forget.” Rebus continued walking along the bridge, taking a left turn at a junction.
  11. Let’s see… Kion, Rebus, Meat, Capt’n Exposition, Sagerian, the orb, the ball of darkness that Wrath named, Rebel, the clone from Entoturis, Everet, and Template, plus the Machination, Rebus’s citizens and as-of-yet-unencountered employees, and those superheroes.
  12. Hmm… I guess Rebus is too nice (or well, not nice, but too worried about making Authors made) to try for such a thing. Though actually, trauma *jazz hands* is something most of us seem to want to play up. Hmmm. Somebody walking along a street suddenly gave off a massive spike of Narration, almost as if attention was being called to them.
  13. He sacrificed himself to try to save you, and you didn’t even notice!? The papers swirling around Tam manifested drawings of birds as her rage mounted. “Well, it depends what you want - whether importance or personal consistency is more important. I like you, though - as long as your Author is slightly invested I think I can keep you alive.” “That would be excellent - I would surely come, both for the party and for the networking.” See you tomorrow, then. Enjoy (or at least endure) work! Hmm… is there any situation you could see Tam going crazy? Unrelatedly, I could use another plotline while Haly’s at work, if you have one you’ve been wanting to run.
  14. Tam flinched, as if she’d been struck. Exactly. He cared about you, and now he’s captured and hurt and Cricket’s dead and- and- and it’s all your fault! I think real Tam would react differently to this scenario, though she might have a second breaking point after all. “I can help with that - I wasn’t supposed to really be anything but a messenger, and look where I am now. The first part is making your Author excited about you.” “I’m unsure - I do hope there will be a party, though Sequence may not be the one to host it. I considered hosting one myself, but it would be hard to pull off without damaging my threat value.”
  15. @Bird Furious “Case in point.” Rebus said to the Author. “I do understand your technical issues, but I need to act.” A copy of him appeared near a new or idle character played by whatever Author happened to be watching.
  16. Tam was harassing Rose for harassing Bat - I believe both Rebus and Malevolence were around, and they were in the space warehouse preparing to fight what’s-his-name. Tam either drew a bird or made a bird Rose drew come to life, and then had it peck at her. If I recall, Rebus had a speech about messing with people sophisticatedly rather than pettily. Tam floated higher, Narritive power swirling around her. YOU HURT BAT! HOW COULD YOU! She lifted her arms, and paper came into existence around her, swirling in the updraft such a concentration of raw power often created. Rebus smiled. “Oh, I do have substantial trauma - my mind is simply well suited to the experience of being imagined. Each time my Author thinks about me, I can feel it, taking actions that mean nearly nothing. A normal person would go insane - perhaps I am a little insane - but as long as my characterization holds firm my Author won’t take the psychological effects of the endless loop of nothingness into account.” @Bird Furious Oddly, the whole vision had some portions completely out of sight from Rose, which were filled with nonsense.
  17. It made me chuckle too, that’s why I included it. It is not, though I do recall reading those at some point. It is a reference to an incident from earlier in the Thread (though that bird may have been in pencil, actually). Reality shifted, and she was standing across from Tam. Tam wasn’t standing, though, she was hovering in the air, eyes aglow with power and wrath. Being afraid of me is probably warranted. I confront such things by making it difficult to kill me permanently. And fear of my specifically I counter by clone management, though having a few divergent copies available means the idea of me can survive even if someone systematically hunts down every clone that is fully me. The pair reached the apex of their arc just as they cleared the lip of a walking bridge, resulting in a drop of a few inches onto the bridge. Rebus began walking immediately, as if that had been what they were doing the whole time, and they had simply stopped briefly to rest.
  18. The other mirrors were too occupied with their various nightmares to speak to her while she did so. They all had similar expressions of fear and dread as the situations looped over and power. The peaceful/mind controlled reflection, in contrast, was trying to make an angry face, but couldn’t figure out how. Why would I do that? You’re the only person who understands me that I still trust, and one of the only people who will help me with things out of expected reciprocity rather than direct bribery, threats, or manipulation. And regardless, there are far easier and more beneficial ways to kill you here - I can override any of the utility fog. The zipline pressure increased suddenly as it seemingly became a jump, sending them upwards into the air at a fairly impressive velocity. Maybe I should make my foreshadowing a bit more subtle than simply telling people my priorities and capabilities.
  19. Uh… false happiness, encroaching darkness, liquid rock covering her, face goes blank then hit by Ennulling bolt, reality warping, actively fighting then blindingly white light, ink bird absorbs her tattoos, and disintegrating. You’re completely safe - it’s almost impossible to kill people here unless I allow it. Even a Morditite blade would be temporarily stopped by the utility fog. They continued to zipline at alarming speeds.
  20. Cricket sighed. “Pick another mirror then, and try not to go insane.” The fall began to straighten out, g-forces tugging at her as the zipline changed direction. Hopefully the final room will be faster - I’m going to speed it up. (But actually, I think the Dreamsmith would come first. The two of them can talk in the waiting room or something)
  21. Very well. Rebus disconnected from the conversation. “Why would you want to? You should come with us.” The platform suddenly burst into unconnected utility fog, and the two of them dropped.
  22. I’m supposed to know, but it’s been over a hundred pages, and my Author doesn’t remember. Unrelatedly, I can take “Chaisler” off your hands. Cricket briefly froze, as though stuck in a loop. “It’s peaceful here. You should come through the mirror.” Rebus shrugged. “This next part should be sufficiently exciting. We could simply take an elevator, but we already have a platform here, and this way is more fun.”
  23. I think they’ll owe her a favor for it, though I could be wrong. “What are you talking about, Rose? This is what I want. All you have to do is come through the mirror, and it will stop hurting.” “If that exploded things, every time you tried to Narratively summon something it would intersect with the air and blow up. Incidentally, that’s why my teleporters have force field projectors.” Then he grinned. “The utility fog will synthesize and ignite explosives in mid-air, if you ask it to. I can’t let people go around killing my citizens, of course, but the sky over there is pretty clear.”
  24. I’m back! They need a Narrator to Narratively control them so they can practice breaking it. I think they’ll owe her a favor for it, though I could be wrong.
