    As Lezterp ate his pretzels and channeled the energy into Cursed Treasure, the ground jolted and the walls shifted. After a short while, this happened without any input from Lezterp. There we go! "To see if you had any reason I shouldn't. I can bring you back to life if needed, I suppose," Rebus smiled apologetically, and Bat began turning to nanomachines. "Goodbye. You really did have promise; I'm sorry." There we tears in Rebus's eyes, though it could have just been the cold wind. Rebus smiled apologetically. "Goodbye. I will come back. I promise; I'm sorry." "Not necessarily; maybe you think the Thread would be better under my rule. Have you seen my city?" "Not against evil, against destruction. I live here too, you know - there's nowhere to rule or even exist in if the Thread is destroyed."

    Yeah. My impression of Invention is much more over-the-top than Layke, who abides by “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” and wants backup plans in case something goes wrong. Ooh, fun! More speculative biology… (honestly, I’m probably doing the same)

    Platypus destroyed Magnificent Bastard a while back. Rebus spread his arms, smiling broadly. “Of course I am! And not just after it, either; I believe I’m the closest anyone has ever gotten.” @xinoehp512, since I was ninja’d. Rebus frowned, shivering and alone in the snow. I suppose, though I’m not sure the figure has hit anyone yet… The whole battlefield is only corporal when necessary; I guess Bacon missed the context about the combat test. A crossbow bolt very slowly hit the time bubble, and it popped with an explosive bang. More footsteps in the distance sounded, loud at first but getting quieter.

    That’s good with me. , for those of you in TLT. As for astronomy, I think Invention (not Layke - this will be a slightly later development) will go all out with the orbital mechanics and make something ridiculous, like multiple binary planets in a co-orbital.

    Now we wait - you can eat more pretzels to speed this up. What’s cheating? Wasn’t it established that things pass through the figure? Rebus looked at where Symbol had been, slightly stunned. “Somehow I’d thought I would stay with her… what is your price, Fate?” Oh no. OH NO. “Did you really think that you could beat me on my own turf?” Rebus sighed. “With my Plotblade broken, you might have even been able to beat me if you’d chosen a different battlefield.” He hit an invisible wall as he tried to get closer to Atredies. It wouldn’t do to have Cricket killing a potential right-hand man.

    Well, it would have been a good - if complicated - strategy had Rebus not been right there. Rebus stopped hovering, stepping lightly to the ground. The shards of the Plotblades sank into the floor. "Now then," he said, pinning Rebel and Atreides in place with utility fog, "would you like to surrender? I wouldn't worry much about your Blade, Cricket; it's likely better gone." Because it's what I do.

    "She is safe, for now, but I said I would do this. I agree." Rebel and Atredies decided to fight Rebus, and that the best way to do that was to fight Bat. But they realized that the best way to fight Bat was to fight Cricket first, since he'd protect Bat. And so they decided that the best way to fight Cricket was to fight Rose, because Cricket would come to her aid. And then Rebus was right there anyway, so it didn't matter. "Thank you for your... restraint. I knew I would need that teleporter, one day," Rebus said, smirking. There was still anger in his eyes, but he was back in control of the situation - and himself. "I should probably kill you now." The blades passed through the figure with the crossbow. Its red eyes brightened, and it shot at her, smoothly reloading as it walked forwards. Rebus held her hand gently. "Rest. It's alright - Fate will get you to safety." Rebel kept running away, summoning himself a golden staff so he could maybe fight back. It began to fall apart in his hands, though, as Rebus's nanomachines overpowered the ones Rebel had brought. "No! He'll kill me! I haven't done anything wrong. Please!" Rebel said, desperate. Rebus didn't even have to do anything this time - there were so many nanomachines permeating the air that lightning didn't work correctly. Note: this laser vaporizes metal. Of course, the utility fog in the air would mess it up just like the lightning.

    That was no surprise - if Heir remembered correctly, it was snowing. “Not her, and not me. Anything else, I will do it.” Rebus raised his head to look the wind in the eyes, but couldn’t, for obvious reasons. Bacon was messing up Rebus’s resolve test, but he’d gotten results already, so it was fine.

    Rebus disappeared before the slash could hit him, reassembling his body off to the side. “You’ve returned, I see. I can kill you again, even if you have a new Blade.” Rebel ran away. “I’m real! Don’t kill me! Rebus is evil - he wants to destroy us all!”

    Rebel tried to teleport away, and began to panic as he failed. Rebus slammed Rebel backwards with a wave of utility fog, expressionless and nearly motionless. Barely blocking the blow with his own utility fog, Rebel called for Cursed Treasure once again. It didn’t come.

    It’s cursed, remember? And trapped - as we gather more power, this place will become larger and more dangerous. Unfortunately for Atredies and Rebel, they appeared inside Rebus’s combat simulation. On a planet made entirely of Rebus’s nanomachines, next to not only Rose but also Cricket and Rebus himself. Rebel gulped.

    Gold and jewels wrapped around the pretzel, the ground rising upwards to form a pedestal to place it on. Great! Don’t touch it, though.

    Rebus bolted upright, rushing to her side. He tried to think of something - anything, he could do, and came up empty. “Just… hang on. We can- we can- Onyx’s realm. Maybe.” His eyes widened. “Fate. @xinoehp512. You can get her there, can’t you.” Rebus set off the disguised antimatter bomb Bat had been carrying around all this time, using what was left of his utility fog to protect him from the teleporter’s explosion. “No, you are. And if you succeed, I will burn the world.” The ground before him opened up into a dark stairway, torches bursting into flames and glinting off the gold-plated walls. Does this seem a good start? “Alright, shall we go?” Rebel prepared to teleport to Rose.

    Rebel smiled back, and teleported Rose to them. And then frowned, because it didn't work. "Ah, the Nullite tattoos." Would you like to do something different? The crossbow did not turn into a hot cross bun. Instead, frost crept up Bacon's musical instrument - whichever one it was - and it began to crumble. Rebus frowned. The Authors were being frustratingly busy this summer. Rebus's mind was not a nice place to experience. Branching strands of mental connections reached to other places: Zoomslug, a mind-numbing number of machines surrounding Zoomslug, more minds identical to Rebus, a faint link to something vaguely recognizable as a conscience, and an otherworldly mind - somehow both human and incomprehensible - linked fully and completely to Rebus. His personality was a terrible ball of pain, fear, and longing wrapped with cold callousness and brilliant plans - the edges covered in a mask of kindness, curiosity, and happiness far to thin to be healthy. Rebus took in the entire scene: the woods, the stars, Symbol's expression. Then he started shivering, and realized how cold he was. "We should find shelter - or make it." The air around his neck solidified, the utility fog dragging him backwards and pinning him to the wall. "No," Rebus said, walking towards Bat with fury in his eyes. "You will not."

    Excellent! If you channel power through me you should be able to start. Rebus nodded to himself. Perhaps the taynix would make a good world-savior after all. “Evidently not in all circumstances,” Rebel muttered. “But I suppose that’s good. All we need is a hostage, and Cricket loses. Actually, two hostages - who does Cricket care about? We need to make sure he can’t hope to save both.”

    "I suppose not. Well, you will soon get to discover why I'm the one who is succeeding." I wish I could do something to help. It's what I'm meant to do.

    Good. We will be able to make a labyrinth or fortress here. Rebus smiled. “There are plenty of people - and villains specifically - stronger than I am. Malan, Ruia, Atredies, Ryss. Who is on the brink of earning Antagonist?” “So we should defeat him first. I should be able to create an anti-teleportation field.” The figure shot a very real crossbow bolt at him.

    *Shiver* Alright, that's me, you, Haly, Twinstorm, Dragon, Xino, and Wrath? "I am. I've studied for this."

    "I would say so; it has been used on me in the past. But Antagonist grants plot armor." How many people do you think should agree before Rebus is awarded it?

    Good... Do you believe you could remain here? "If that is the case, you shall likely fall." I meant more as "fits the qualifications" than "approves of Rebus and what he's doing". "You may be right - assuming he would defend Bat." Morton's fork...

    Looks like Bat's life is going to get even worse... Rebel frowned. "Does he still have that Narrator protecting him? I suppose Cricket is even worse, though."

    "Once I get Antagonist, I won't need the Notblades." Once? Does this imply you're in favor? "That could work... Who shall we menace?"
