  1. The lance dislocates Nick’s shoulder, despite the shock absorption. “Ow.” he says, feeling no pain. “Note to self: add ways to reset bones.” He’s knocked back and to the side, due to his poor anchoring, but he manages to clip a breastplate with the rust bacteria infused tip of the stick. He’d have to track down one of the spearheads, if he actually wanted to use it, but the spreading conversation of armor to triangles would hopefully give him an edge. Nick watches his fellows wreck havoc as he waves the tip of his stick around near the ground, picking up small amounts of rust with its magnet. Then, he sprints through the battlefield to the catapult, jumping over soldiers that try to stop him with hydrogen induced lightness, tagging metal weapons and armor with his stick, accumulating a bit of rust each time. Around half way through, his bush branches have been drained dry and snapped, and there is a small point on the spear, with the vacuum system in the middle. He rams it into an enemy soldier, injecting him with a stabilizer and sedative producing virus while sucking blood out. The man would live - in fact, this way he would survive bleeding out and heal infections - but he’d quickly fall unconscious, and then require lots of food in a day or two, after the virus wears off. Knowing that he could now actually take down enemies, Nick stops moving, figuring that Larry could take out the catapult if needed. He switches to trying to cut his way through to the commander, drawing, filtering, and electrolysis-ing blood to hydrogen by stabbing those that attack him.
  2. Third stops ranting. “Interesting… I can deliver it by hand, if needed.” @TheRavenHasLanded, I don’t know if Third can see you, but to the eyes of a cognitive shadow, Magic (the aviar) has some sort of splinter anchored to it. The bond between Third and Magic is much stronger than an ordinary one; they’re almost the same person, cognitively.
  3. The largest branch on the bush straightens itself, somehow, and Nick plants it against the ground. His suit and his stick are both enhanced; running into him shouldn’t hurt, as long as he protects his head.
  4. The bright colors of Nick’s suit fade, swapping places with a set of camouflage cells he had a template for. “Got it, I’ll wait here.” Nick hides in a shrub, and his xenosuit melds with the plant, draining it of nutrients and water while leaving leaves and branches. He selects one branch to turn to his glaive contraption. He jumps up, leaves and branches melded with his suit. Running forward, now-drained leaves fluttering to the ground, he attempts get in the way of the cavalry charge.
  5. “I suppose that makes sense.” Veer takes the book and begins flipping through it, trying to find the potentially nonexistent section on scaled gifts.
  6. Veer nervously tries the coffee. “Yeah, it’s not great. They said it would wake people up, not sure how.” Veer eats his waffle, watching Mead Bush order his pepper. “Why does dragon food taste like fire, anyway?”
  7. Third turns to Vistari. "That's good, at least." @Ancient Elantrian
  8. Nick is torn. Sabotaging the catapult would end the battle, but it would also start it. (Which side had the horses?) He pings Kaleb with his glasses. @Ancient Elantrian “What do I do about this? They’re not actually fighting yet.”
  9. “No, I was not informed. That thing will destroy my system. It’s an apex predator, and imagine what would happen if it bred with the ordinary deepwalkers. What is that thing even capable of? Does it shut down aviar?”
  10. “The what?” Third says, a little shrill. “I did watch clips of the last games. Does that have anything to do with-“ Third is filled with a primal fear. Somehow he knows that if he came anywhere near this thing, it would kill him even faster than it would kill an ordinary person. He decides to cover it with bluster. “Am I not the wildlife coordinator? Is that not wildlife? Unless you are trying to take over my job, I should have been consulted in this.”
  11. “You’re planning on taking first watch, then? Perhaps we should have one or two people patrol, gather, and scout, and have the last two rest in the wagon, ready to act as backup.” @TheRavenHasLanded @Spark of Hope @TwinSouls @J. Magi
  12. Nick jogs along, looking for more water as he goes in the direction of the cannons. “Maybe I can use osmosis… or just a normal vacuum, actually. Put in in the center of the spearhead, and take blood from my opponents. If I put in some sort of modified virus, I can have that spread and knock out whoever I draw the blood from. Throw in some stasis and healing stuff - like Theusesing - and they’ll be out of the fight but fine after the virus wears off.” Nick rounds the corner and sees the actual battle for the first time. @The Stormfather @The Stormfather
  13. “Alternatively, you could simply knock on the roof.” Alvar wonders why Dint has his herbal mixture out already. There aren’t any monsters around.
  14. Veer floats Mead Bush to the cafeteria. “The potentially royal dragon wants warm sauce or something? To wake up.” He comes back with a bottle of hot sauce, some hot coffee, some soup, a waffle, a steak, and a bowl of fried jalapeños. Starting with the hot sauce, he pours some in Mead Bush’s mouth, then takes a swig himself. Spluttering and red faced, he grabs a glass of water from another table, and chugs it. As people who’ve tried this know, it makes it worse.
  15. “The point is the reward, is it not? The best, the most ruthless, the most cunning are supposed to win. We’re not supposed to manipulate them, we’re supposed to create challenges and rewards; to see which is the strongest, who deserves to survive.”
  16. Ooh! We’ve got bioengineered plants! Put them on its back, for extra fun!
  17. But yes you can… Nature
  18. Nick nods. “Thank you. Although this getup isn’t just for show; I’m an inventor.” To prove his point, one wing flips up on its own, allowing Nick to pour the canteen down the strut. He tosses it back to the soldier. “That should be one good boost in ten minutes or so; I should probably refuel this thing in a lake after the battle.” Nick goes back to jogging, heavier at first but slowly lightening as the hydrogen splits. “Hey SIMON, do you think this could work?” Nick pictures a hydrogen filled shaft with a modified Ferrian blade-plant on the end, like a glaive. You’ll need the resources - a spear should work if you permeate it with xenosuit. And we can overclock the blade-plant off the hydrogen, and throw in some ferroyeast. That’d wreak plate armor.
