  1. Template shrugs again. “I suppose so. I don’t care about very much yet, but what if someone made me hurt someone I care about?” Template nods. “I believe it took over a hour for it to wear off the last time, and that was with an added variable. But we shall see.”
  2. Template looks at their hand, which did not exist until they called attention to it. “Do you think anyone can change me? Disembodied voice, has that happened before?” @Ookla the nostealnamepls
  3. It takes a second, but Template becomes blue. “Interesting. Are you a Narrator?”
  4. Template looks around. “Anyone here want to describe me? It’s for an experiment.” I think that’s @oOklA thE shInyYyy and @Ookla the Inconclusive
  5. Template gets up again. “We will need to go somewhere else to do that, I assume.”
  6. Template is noticeably vague. Their only details currently are yellow eyes and freckles. “Interesting. What’s an Author?”
  7. Template nods again, speaking out loud by accident. “It seems like it. I went back to being vague, and I remembered my name. But maybe that was caused by something else? I don’t have a lot of data.” Template is not detailed enough to be particularly surprised. “Good, that is helpful. What could make it feel magnetic and restructure someone easily, but fall apart eventually? Has that ever happened to anyone else?”
  8. Template nods. It does seem that way. Thanks to you changing my personality, I can now make my own decisions until the details go away. As a Narrator, I assume you would know about Narration, but are there any experts on it, or any generally wise scholars?
  9. Cole goes back inside and curled up in the courtyard, fast asleep in moments.
  10. No. I appeared, but I didn’t have anything I needed to do, so I didn’t do anything. Someone - a Narrator I think - appeared and gave me an identity, then made me forget. So before I appeared, I could have forgotten. And Narration is strange. It tugs, and ties in knots, and unravels.
  11. “Because I ‘killed’ the Duke. If I then stay with the people who worked for him, that means I’m working with them. And we need to surprise Rage, so we need to avoid giving it away.”
  12. Template sits back down, much to the potential bewilderment of others in the room. Rebus, waiting for the Faustian bargainer to respond, begins to try to twist the plot, or at least his Author, to his favor.
  13. Cole uses gestures to convey his message clearly. “So, I killed the Duke, right? Thus, if I’m staying here, that’s suspicious. So I can get a cool disguise, and someone else can pretend to be me and flee the area!”
  14. That was the main idea of the character, but I can fully improvise, at least until someone less benevolent gets ahold of them. Template, almost to the door, stops. “Good question. Who would know what I am, do you think, and how do I get to them?”
  15. Cole smiles. “Good ideas! Can you three scrounge up a decoy version of me to go on the run, to fake-out Rage? Ooh - I want a disguise!”
  16. Template, given undirected autonomy by the Narration, gets up. “Thank you. I am going to figure out what I am. Goodbye. Thank you for the cookies.” How am I to improv if not given prompts? Also, is there actually a way out of there?
  17. You can make me do that, if you want. I think it will work. Template thinks, missing the point.
  18. Template sits down again. I don’t know what to do, so I need something. Or I can go back and sit where I appeared.
  19. Cole thinks about it for a second. “What would I actually get from that? Freedom and Gronk, what do you think?” @Ookla the Dragonslayer
  20. Template tries to directly say something back, but cannot. Odd. It was working before.
  21. He smiles again. “Excellent! If I die, so can all of you! Or maybe one of you is crazy enough to succeed!”
  22. Rebus doesn’t want that, so he stalls. “Antimatter is always useful! Except apparently for alarming Narrators, so probably it’s useless against anything on their tier level. Do you want a cough drop? You sound like you need one, Faust. Can I call you that?” Then he realizes a loophole. “You ask for my faith in your abilities? If that’s your condition, I accept! If there’s other things, I would like full disclosure and no unrevealed tricks. Legal battle with exact words is fine, but we can’t say there were secret conditions or break the deal. And I’d like to actually know what you’re offering, and what this thing you seek is.” @Ookla the Cookie Collector Template. Template sends back. I think I did something. Am I supposed to be able to talk like this?
