    I was doing this with my friend the other day, and thought that many Sharders would enjoy it. The game works like this: A superpower or magic system is proposed, either intended to be fully useless, or merely decent - for instance, the ability to magically close and open one folding table is “useless”, while the ability to speed up the growth of plants by touch is relatively useful but not very. Then, the other player takes that power and comes up with an unintended application that makes them stronger than intended, either making the useless power decent or the decent power unstoppable. For instance, the table could be used to generate energy at no cost, and could potentially crush things in its way, while plant growth of a large and networked plant could be used to overgrow a large area with a fast growing plant, pulling water from a lake and only needing to touch the plant at one point. Mimicking the common structure of forum games, each poster should exploit the magic system the last person proposed, then list their own. I’ll start: Mental control over an incorporeal sphere of light, which you can direct around and dim or brighten to, at maximum, that of an ordinary lightbulb.

    Template, unsurprisingly, does what they are told. By the end of the others’ conversation they’re no longer blue.

    Template thus stays blue, and the experiment is ruined. They continue sitting, unaware of the multiple conversations unfolding in front of them.

    Rebus smiles in a way that looks polite. “Excellent. Well, be sure to call me when that happens. Things you have no way to understand stop me from killing you, but I should be able to tear through your army before I leave to go get the people actually allowed to kill you.” And then, he vanishes. “Am I still blue?” asks Template.

    Template sits back farther into their chair. I can wait for the reunion, I suppose. It's not like I have anything better to do.

    I guess I am rather suspicious. Even I think I might be a spy, because I can't remember who made me Owen. Whoever did it didn't count on me losing detail, though.

    Dr. Warren nods back. “If it makes you feel better. But remember that any cultural taboos you have do not apply to us.” Through the door is an apparatus that seems designed to spin around a person on a circular track on the floor, and a few people setting it up, some human and some Vvondin.

    “It is my name. How would I do that?” Yeah, that makes sense. Rebus began to walk away, trying to snub the obviously evil voice into either leaving him alone or actually giving him information.

    Alvar tries to determine how loyal the bandits are to Jerehlu, trying to be either in the same group as him or in the second group, depending upon how well holding him hostage might work.

    I will experiment. If my power can help the world, this is a thing that must happen. Dr. Warren nods, standing up and walking to a door. “We have machines that use different kinds of light to look at things. We’ll test it on the shadow energy, and if it doesn’t break anything, we can use it for its intended purpose and examine you. It’s standard medical procedure, replacing dissections as the general way to determine how anatomy works.”

    I watch. And I take. I make sure that none have too much power. I banish them from this world. Dr. Warren takes the vague explanation and assumes Adtae is part of some sort of checks and balances system. “Our initial experiment is set up, but if you want to keep talking you can.”
