  1. Template continues swimming in place, watching their friends but unable to hear what they are saying. @SpiritOfWrath, for some reason I can’t quite right now. “Welcome back.” Rebus says a bit sullenly. “The Adari AI does sound interesting. Is it unimportant enough that I can fight it, but strong enough I won’t obliterate it? My Author probably wants to hear more about it anyway.”
  2. She blinks again. “The Interstellar Intelligent Species Council doesn’t ring any bells? How did you get here, then?” Down the hallway is another room, much like the one you were in. One wall of it, however, is metal and covered in pipes and boxes. A member of the other species - Vvondin - paces that wall, checking things. Even indoors, the alien is shrouded in the biofabric that the life support suits were made from. “Hello! You are the traveler, correct? I have heard about the light, and how you make darkness.”
  3. Coles smiles again, relieved and excited. “Excellent. Do you know why I couldn’t remove the stone from his grasp?” He begins gathering his gear again.
  4. “Yes, but you told me that, so it might not be. But here, at least, is contradictory.” Template notes, probably adding more confusion rather than reducing it. Kion doesn’t press the issue, instead taking out his flint and steel, then realizing there’s nothing to burn. Enjoy your break!
  5. She blinks again, more surprised this time. "How did that happen? Are you somehow from outside the IISC?"
  6. Momentarily surprised, she elaborates. "Allergies are anything that provokes an unnecessary immune response. In this case, ordinarily edible foods that will a specific person ill. I'd assumed that was common knowledge."
  7. Still unsure of how to ease the bird's suspicions, she focuses on the breakfast request. "We can get you essentially anything. Do you have any requests or known allergies?"
  8. I did know they had been doing that, but I had the same question you did. "Yes, it is good, and I do think so."
  9. After slightly less silence than would be awkward, she asks, "Do you want breakfast? You probably haven't eaten in quite a bit."
  10. She sits down and waits for him to talk, knowing that too many questions made him close down earlier.
  11. Dr. Warren smiles at the man and his bird. "Good 'morning'! I hope you slept well." She pulls a chair over for him to sit down in.
  12. "I'll pass the message along to Dr. - I doubt you can spell our pronounce the name, actually. Chief Engineer should work - who is three rooms down." @Spark of Hope, Adtae's departure should pass Kal.
  13. "Fear. I'm glad I don't have to worry about that, because I'm too crazy to care." he smiles broadly. "So once again, I'm your only hope. This time I hope you are more helpful, because otherwise you'll die, I think. That wouldn't happen otherwise, so it could be a problem."
  14. Is that a plot? Because I always have things I could have happen, if it isn't. Template-the-turtle stares at the coral reef. I have never been here before. Although I have not been to many places. This is a good new place, though.
  15. Cole lies on the ground, bleeding. He gets up, stripping off most of his clothes so he doesn't bleed on them, and so he gets as much wind as possible. "We're going to die now, aren't we." he says. "Of course, I was before, unless I wasn't." More light comes back into his eyes as his cuts slowly knit together. "So really, it's the same. Thus, I can continue doing whatever I want, but faster. I wanted the stone, so I should get the stone but faster. Thus, I should go politely ask ghost man to give it to me for something more important, like pie. I was almost lucid in the middle there - was that you, Gronk? Maybe you have a better idea."
  16. Cole makes a snap decision and attempts to blast the stone from Fear's grasp, burning through around half his life energy in an instant.
  17. Cole turns his head sideways as if hoping it will make things make more sense. “If I’m not real, why would it matter if we shared it?” he asks, not really thinking the man will give him the stone. He looks at the stone, trying to see if it also flickers. Fighting a ghost man for a ghost stone would waste some time, which would be bad.
  18. Template is too distracted by their shell, which is now springy, to continue the train of thought unprompted.
  19. SIMON, having checked the internet, corrects Nick. “Apparently steel is actually harder than titanium - so he might be better off with his own sword, especially if weight is used advantageously.” Nick, surprised by the fact, relays it to Aki. “Supposedly your steel will be harder than the titanium. Titanium is really light while being pretty strong, so it can be used to make things that wouldn’t move or would collapse if they were heavier, but it seems it’d make a terrible sword. There are other metals that would make you a stronger sword, but titanium is not one of them.”
  20. Nick shakes his head. “No, I believe the swords these people have disrupt the constructs somehow. But if you are worried about destroying your katana, we can create a backup from titanium. It would be lighter and stronger, but potentially the wrong shape. I don’t know whether such a thing is acceptable or compatible with your training.”
  21. “They’re not steel. Steel is weak in comparison to the metal they’re made from. But yes, I imagine your current katana is insufficient for damaging them. A nice thing about facing robots made from titanium, though, is that if you destroy them, you have a bunch of titanium that you can make things with.”
  22. “I do, but I am very new. Maybe I will get better once I am more than a day…” they trail off, on the brink of Thread-awareness. Whether they do realize such a thing is, as usual, up to others. Template tries to smile, but is a turtle and thus isn’t sure how. Without anything else to say, they stop talking. Kion skeptically hands the key back. “I haven’t heard legends where magic cannot be used without great need. It’s effectively the default state for our mages.” Kion, confused for a second, remembers that time doesn’t work the same for Narrators. Perhaps that power wasn’t as drawback-free as he assumed… “We were walking, but we stopped to find shelter and rest. This man was a researcher, but the rest of his companions were slain by Faceless. He believed us to be similar creatures, but we convinced him to share the cave in return for our protection.” Rebus waves a digital hand at the reappearance of the Author. “Welcome back. You’ve chosen an excellent time to return, where everything is happening all at once, and I can’t keep track of it, rather than appearing when I was bored.” It seems he’s still sulking.
  23. “That sounds good; we’ll have some favorable coverage beforehand.” He prompts his suit to manufacture another backup of the videos, with wireless internet. Then, pausing, he devotes the remaining manufacturing capacity towards electric motors of various sizes.
  24. “But we have the key.” “I’m not sure. Opinions are hard.” Yo voy a dormir. (Aka I’m going to sleep.) Good night.
