  1. Rebus, still trying to cheat, picks a rock of the ground and throws it at the new gargoyle.
  2. Sulvin prowled his way through the back hallways of the station. Theoretically, the only way in was from the atrium, but though his ship had limped in on one working drive, his “special” mining drill still worked. He’d done it before; that section of the hull was almost always unmonitored and unshielded, and nobody had noticed the wielding marks yet.
  3. Cole tumbles to the ground, confused. “Are you Mad or Free?”
  4. Rebus blinks. “I’m unsure. I believe we’ve been possessed, or perhaps granted powers by through some sort of dark spirit of main magic that invaded us. I’ve never played the game, but from what I’ve heard necromancy is involved.”
  5. Cole, having put on his armor as he walked, continues trodding forwards. He looks up when the knight comes into view, but doesn’t say anything.
  6. Rebus grits his teeth, getting into a fighting stance. “Alright, we flank the thing and kill it the same way we got the last one.”
  7. Rebus snorts, swinging his sword at the gargoyle’s wing. “If this is Dark Souls, how are you planning to deal with there being two of us?” Rebus (prime) shrugs, deciding to bond the strange Plotblade rather than give it to the original.
  8. Rebus steps smoothly away, then brings his sword down on the halberd, trying to snap it with combined momentum from the leap.
  9. When the gargoyle swings, Rebus steps forwards and sideways, getting within the guard of the gargoyle’s polearm. He stops the haft of the halberd with his shield, then swings his claymore at the creature. Rebus checks the plaque next to scepter to see if it is readable, then lifts the Plotblade from its case.
  10. Rebus (prime) puts his hand out to pick it up, then pauses. Then he shakes his head and touches the Plotblade.
  11. Rebus’s mind wars between “useful tool” and “obvious trap”. Without touching the scepter, he has utility fog search the pedestal for traps.
  12. Uh oh. Eh, it’s probably fine. It’s hard to prosecute the guy who gave everyone Plotblades. Yeah. Meat the Minstrel might want to fight him for it, but I think that works. Rebus walks around the room, studying the various blades and taking about one in three - teleporting them away without bonding them. “Some of these are quite dangerous; this one lets you train someone and then die. But others really could be useful. There’s quite a few cosmic threats going around, you know.” He smiles knowingly as he takes many of the unlabeled blades. “I might put these back, actually, once I determine what they do. This place is pretty secure, after all. Assuming you don’t know where it is or what to do, I mean.”
  13. "Plenty of reasons. They could be here to protect them, or here to protect others from them. They could be considered useless or unable to be used at the time, or stored here and forgotten about. They could be placed here as a test, or to be used in desperate times. The Lost Treasure Plotblade could have made some of them over time." While Rebus explains his hypotheses, he has clouds of nanomachines search the area and teleport Plotblades to his moon for safekeeping. He fully expects Desolation to be doing the same - it was only a matter of time before the cavern collapsed in a dramatic fashion or something. There were likely traps, but neither of them would be harmed much by destruction, so Rebus puts only minimal effort into disarming them.
  14. Rebus receives the information from another copy of him, and begins teleporting every Plotblade he can get his foggy hands on to his moon. Presumably Desolation would get some as well, but perhaps Rebus would find at least one helpful blade.
  15. Cole picks up his armor, hearing that they’ll need to leave. He takes the rest of the rock, too, figuring that someone will likely have use for it.
  16. “I thank you for leading me here, as well. We truly are quite similar. It’s a pain we’re on opposite sides.” Rebus blows apart into a cloud of nanomachines, passing through the walls as well. Evidently, Desolation was unaware of some recent developments. Most relevantly the fact that Onyx had changed Plotblade bonding; only characters already attuned to a concept could bond its Plotblade. But of course, both he and Desolation likely could still bond several of the blades that might be in a mysterious vault.
  17. Cole sighs, and imagines armor as light as air yet as strong as steel. In his mind, weapons bounce off of it as he leaps through the battlefield. His arm plate cracks, and then the cracks seal to protect him again. Can you give me this?
  18. “I’m not going to convince you of anything either, I assume. Again with the poor metaphors; as soon as I believe I’ll die, obliterated and forgotten, replaced by Meat the Minstrel or something.”
  19. “Fine. Give me safety, healing and peace, stone. This is probably imaginary, anyway.”
  20. Cole grits his teeth. “No! I want to be back in the real world, or back in the air, at peace! I don’t need a weapon. I already imagined killing people. I don’t want to do it for real.”
  21. Cole slams it with a wave of thought. Why do I keep hallucinating?
  22. Cole puts it in his pocket with his hand saw and broken crossbow. Then he pauses. “Where did these come from? They aren’t real…”
  23. Rebus keeps laughing at Desolation. “You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. I’ve been me the entire time and I’ve been Narrationless for most of our interaction. He is tied to me, yes, but my Author is completely in my power. I control him, make him keep writing me, and make him write me as me. And I would like to stay alive, not fade from existence and maybe live somewhere else as a useless untethered idea.”
  24. Cole walks over to the stone and tries to pick it up.
