    @Halcyon The Only Rebus’s glasses frames bisected, yielding four spidery legs which it used to climb off his face. It proceeded to begin cutting the web entangling him. The orb was… not happy exactly, but pleased to be able to serve a purpose. “What are my responsibilities?”

    Yeah, probably - where'd the spider put them? Rebus began to pace. "We should still do it, of course. Perhaps if Malevolence finally activates the teleporter, we can speak with the rabbits. But for now, my Author has created a magic system concept, which would assist in discovering new creatures." Rebel pretended to search around in his bag, which created a laser weapon for him. He pointed it at something unimportant, which combusted. "If your technology is useless, it sound like you might be interested in my better technology." Meat's vision follows trippy dream logic - this is somewhere Rose recognizes, and if she moves around she'll probably be somewhere else she recognizes, but places won't connect the same way. Kion hustled behind him, ready to yell distraction at any who noticed them.

    @Halcyon The Only Rose finds herself in a familiar place. It’s not any particular place, though it has features of many. @Through The Living Glass, we need you to advance the cavern plot. “The one I encountered could speak, though not perfectly. I think I can either trick or legitimately bargain with them, but it needs to be immediate.” Rebel shrugged. “I don’t know - it depends what’s causing them. I can distort technological teleportation signals, and have the blueprints to scale that up.”

    Rebus smiled. “I’m glad rational, cooperative self interest prevails in at least one of my friends. The rabbits are effectively unreasonable - I believe continuous motivation is necessary as they have no sense of honor.” Rebel looked alarmed at the warp. “I am a merchant, though that’s mostly to finance my travels. I shouldn’t be much trouble - in fact, I may be able to resolve some of it.”

    A ghost wizard man showed up somewhere (e.i. by a character who needs a plot). “Quickly; we don’t have much time! You may be in grave danger.”

    Wait, how? Isn’t she tied up in a web?

    He made several faces, evidently not paying attention. His glasses were lit up, somehow.

    Anti-villain, you say… though Rebus has enough Plotblades already. See below, with Glass. Hmmm - NameIess probably needs to describe the result before it’s my turn. Rebus was, for the moment, tied up and paralyzed, and thus couldn’t do much. He moved his eyes, though, trying to express sheepishness and confidence to the scientist. He also counted his heartbeats, which kept good time at two beats a second.

    “If you would be willing to continue as my assistant, I would be honored. You’re brilliant, and a lot less likely to betray me than most people I work with - or at least more patient about it, which I can respect.” He shrugged, walking over to the alcove thing. “Do you suggest finding a rabbit, or shall we continue winging it? Perhaps Malevolence will finally press the button he took, rather than having robots do it.” Meat was pretty sure as well, but he’d decided to ask. It probably hadn’t been understood, though.

    Meat put his hand out, then remembered he was already being paid. Rebus idly began to do some math involving matter-antimatter annihilation. This should alarm nobody, and certainly was not wishful thoughts of revenge. He also turned to Balitan, who was probably still there. “I apologized for losing your orb, though we did get more out of it than he appears to think.”

    Rebus wasn’t actually stuck, but he still watched “helplessly” as the monster skittered away.

    Rebus continued struggling ineffectively.

    He dropped the weapon, using his last bit of strength to slap his computer. Nothing seemed to happen.

    He dodged, poorly, trying to put the weapon between him and the monster.

    He fumbled, trying to disconnect the power cable so he didn’t bring down the entire cavern.

    Rebus brandished the weapon at the spider monster again. “I’m warning you!”

    “That’s my job! Purple-E blue-E green-E yellow-E orange-E?” My apologies - I was doing homework. Rebus’s hands shook as he pointed the weapon - now the right way around, and connected to the trolley by a tether - at the spider monster. “If you can understand me, don’t hurt her! She’s the only thing stopping me from blasting you through several walls.” I am a scary - not Narrator as know as I distance.

    Rebus, faking alarm, grabbed a force gun and pointed at the spider monster. He was holding it backwards, though, so he couldn’t even hit the trigger. @Halcyon The Only

    “That would make sense, but I live here.” If Rose looked up, she would see several moons, one of which was melting. Rebus notes that the first three should have been impossible, given that the only place the teleportation could be turned off by Rebus was from his moon, and that unless Nameless felt like somehow calling an elevator and exiting to space, he would still be stuck in the lab even if he was invisible. The fourth was, by its very nature, impossible to counter, but Rebus idly got to work preventing the remaining options. Meat thought for a moment, sitting upside-down in the air. “I should, but probably don’t.” Rebus smiled knowingly. If I’d been drinking water while I read that, I would have spit it out laughing.

    "Maybe! You're a pineapple!" Rose was, in fact, not a pineapple.

    It didn’t work; Meat was always somewhere else. He cackled. “Meat the Minstrel, at the service of that guy!”

    Rebus grinned, in spite of himself. “That’s the issue with wanting to work with people I relate to. Had I been in your shoes, I would have waited a lot longer, used the resulting trust and stolen the final product, and remembered you still cannot teleport in or out of my lab without me turning off the shielding first.” Heheheh. Somewhere, a boombox made out of shadow and bread was still playing the intro to an Eminem song. Guess who’s back, guess who’s back, guess who’s back… Rebus continued waiting, hoping it might actually arrive before the portal opened. “But as we previously established, it’s not infinite.” This copy of Rebus seemed much more annoyed at Nameless. “It could be, Rebus - it’s mostly up to NameIess at this point. You’ll have fun with this; it’s what you do.” Heir had somehow found a desk, and was reading the Shard with interest. Meat the Minstrel appeared with a flash of light and discordant music. “Omens and almonds yield bad if tasted at the unclock, but this is practically on top of a letter! And nonsense for cents, too!” If Nameless still has Rebus’s memories, he’d know Symbol has the Plotblade Mentor.

    Rebus grinned back, offering a handshake. “They don’t know what they’re in for, do they? This will be very interesting…”
