  1. Wait, are they canon ?
  2. Ok, so does it only bother me that no time is dedicated to even a mention of Kaladin's parents and brother when he decides to become a herald ? No one but him and the other heralds (and Syl) know that he's actually alive, everyone else will believe him actually dead. To be clear I'm not opposed to him becoming a herald, but he doesn't spare a thought to anyone at all possibly grieving him. That feels like an oversight to me. I hope this will be adressed in Books 6-10.
  3. Hi, me again. In the e-book version at least: "If you were to overthrow the lighteyes and places yourselves in power, abuses would sitll happen. They d just happen to other people" the apostrophe on "they d" is missing Page 657 according to my e-reader
  4. When Shallan draws Taravangian, she draws a lot of cryptics. It's because he lies so much, so they are very interested.
  5. Well it's not a typo I suppose, but I feel like this sentence does not make grammatical sense. "what they wer" what ? I suppose it's what they were doing
  6. I vote for waiting for the entire book to be released. Also, welcome back !!
  7. I'd love to see all the different ranks given on the forums to users, I love this kind of things
  8. In Chapter 23:
  9. That's awesome ! Will there be a taping of the play online one day ?
  10. Hello I was reading The Way of Kings on my phone earlier today, and tried to zoom in on a Shallan's writing in one of the illustrations, but the text was blurry. To make sure, I found a similar one in Rhythm of War, and this issue was not present here. It is rather cumbersome to have to go on the coppermind wiki to look at the illustration and be able to read it. Is it possible for Brandon/his editor to fix this ? Also, I haven't checked all the other Stormlight books I own except Words of Radiance, which also works fine.
  11. Alright, I think you all answered my question Thank you everyone !
  12. I think this answer leaves it still ambiguous as to what I'm asking. It could either mean death or loss of sense in the cut area.
  13. Are bagels and donuts the same thing ? If so, I'm not a huge fan of any I've ever tried, but they're not bad either. Being french, I much prefer our pastries
  14. I speak French, my native language, and english
  15. I've had this pop up in my mind yesterday when re-reading the Prologue "To Kill" of WoK. What if a shardblade, either a dead one (the ones that take 10 heartbeats to summon) or the ones that are still alive (such as Syl) were to cut through only 1 centimetre or 2 through the skin or an arm, for example. Let's set up an in-universe scenario: Kaladin summons Syl as a scalpel and, on a willing Radiant that can then restore whatever was damaged, cuts through only partially. Would it be different if the scalpel were to penetrate the skin from the tip, or if it was more like an incision ? I already asked this question on the 17th Shard discord, and someone said that it would probably kill the nerves. If that is how it works, then the answer would be that the cut would make the person only lose feeling wherever the shardblade cut through, not the entire limb. Additionally, it's very early on established that cutting through the neck kills instantly. What if the neck is only cut halfway through ? Only a quarter through ? I don't know if this question has ever been asked, for I'm sorry if it has been.
  16. Hello, I discovered Brandon's work via reading The Way of Kings at my local library sometime in late 2022. Fell in love with it, devoured them, first in french, then in english. So far I've only read the Stormlight Archive books and its novellas. I came here mainly to ask a question to Brandon himself, but who knows, maybe I'll stick around ? Either as a lurker or a poster. Time will tell.
