    Altair stopped struggling. "Sad... ends? Hurting bad." He looked into shovel man's eyes. "Worth living. There are things worth living for." He fell down and wept.

    "Maybe I don't care anymore!" Altair screamed. "I've seen so much death!"

    Altair kicks them without even looking to see who it is, and continues his charge.

    Altair stands up, rage evident on his face. "Yeah? Well you've never faced my rage! I will destroy you so completely, you can never come back!" Altair screamed and charged at the necromancer.

    "Sleeper!" Altair cried out. "No!" He races towards the fallen body of Sleeper. "Oh, no. Sleeper..." Altair kneels beside his body.

    “Sleeper!” Altair cried out, now free of the necromancer’s spell.

    Altair struggled for a moment, but it was pointless. “Ithuriel!” He called. The griffin landed and attacked the necromancer.

    Altair appeared from somewhere and charged at him. “No one… will die in front of me… again!”

    I would recommend Elantris to be read first. I’m pretty sure there some mild references to it in the last Wax and Wayne book. But they’re not too notable, so either one is fine.

    "SHUT UP CARL!" The originals are far superior. I haven't even seen the latest two seasons because the others were just terrible. Don't get me wrong, the cast is great! But the writing...

    “Not this again,” Altair grumbled. He hesitated for a moment and turned to the griffin. “May I, beautiful creature?” He said, gesturing at her back. She cawed and knelt down. Altair climbed on and they soared toward the enemy.
