  1. The boy grunted. "What are you- where am I- I don't- my head- throbbing- "
  2. Alderic stopped Gavin outside of his room, having heard the screaming. He glanced in and his eyes got dark. He put his hand on Gavin's shoulder. "Son, we need to talk."
  3. Unfortunately the real memories are tainted. There is a powerful force guarding his mind, controlling him, even if just on the base levels, and it forcefully shoves Rui out of his mind. You are not welcome here. A female voice says forcefully into her mind. This is my servant, MINE. He will ever be mine, until death he will always be mine.
  4. "Lots of things. Why do you care? Leave me alone."
  5. "Don't celebrate birthdays. Money is tight, but at least not as much as it is in the districts."
  6. "No. I was raised here in the Capitol, an only child of two parents. I was taken here to become an assassin for the Capitol. No siblings."
  7. The boy furrowed his brow. "I don't have a brother."
  8. The boy yelped, jumping backwards. "Who are you?!"
  9. They bring him up, out of this world's underground facility. As they leave, their outfits shift, fitting more the vibe of the world above. The boy wakes up as they do, and gets up. "I want to go back home." He says. "My parents will miss me. I... I don't want to serve the Capitol. I want to go home." He says softly in a child's voice. The guards don't respond. They lead him to a large, black building. Inside there is a gruff, female receptionist. She doesn't even look up. "Left hallway. Third room on the right. First class is in ten minutes. Be there. Schedule is pinned on the door. Uniform is in the closet." They follow her directions to a small room with red and black walls. The boy is made to change into his uniform, a tight fitting dark grey and red body suit. "Go to your class." A guard says gruffly. Then they leave him, alone in his room, with a map, the classroom schedule, and no personal belongings whatsoever.
  10. Ella (Emma?) screamed in horror at her limp hand, staring incredulously at Gavin. She screamed more. Then she screamed louder. More. Higher. Louder. It was an accomplishment to scream that long, loud, and high. And she just kept screaming, her eyes wide.
  11. T-minus 2 seconds. 1 second. 0 seconds. The door slammed shut and there was a resounding BOOM. The world shook and white lights began glowing. They shook, then dove and ripped into her skin, causing searing pain. Her body seemed to be ripped apart, flipped inside out, her bones breaking and then reforming, only to break again. Within seconds it was over, and she was standing off to the side of a scene much like the one she had been in a moment before. A red-haired four-year old was held, unconscious, by a group of soldiers. "Take him to their assassin training facility. Enroll him in the most rigorous of courses. He must be the best of the best. And... give him a name." A man in a black uniform says. "Admiral, sir, how will we do this? With the games and the political unrest, he might not even survive a year!" A woman says to him. She's wearing all white and has glasses on. "If he doesn't survive so be it. But I have a feeling he will..." The soldiers cart off the boy, the woman with glasses following, a concerned look on her face as she types in numbers and fills out forms on a tablet.
  12. T-Minus 3 seconds. Enter device to travel.
  13. No one was, though loud, stomping footsteps could be heard coming towards her. T-Minus 4 seconds.
  14. The screen connected to the device beeped softly. The device itself was massive, tubes and pipes and wiring running in and out and along its surface. At the very base was a metal door with one of those twisty knobs they have on submarines. Kronos Apparatus will activate in T-Minus 5 seconds. The screen announced.
  15. The doors opened. Why someone designed it to do that when the scanner exploded, no one would ever know. Also, alarms began blaring throughout the facility. Why someone designed it to do that when the scanner exploded, everyone knew.
  16. There was a large round steel door, maybe twenty meters tall, leading into the room. Next to it, minuscule in comparison, was a small retinal scanner, likely to ensure only authorized personnel entered.
  17. The soldiers in the room deactivated the portal, seeming to think they'd sent her away. Soon enough she found a map. Apparently this was a large, underground complex, secret from the world above. The apparatus was shown on the very bottom level with a label reading: "HIGHLY DANGEROUS. HIGHEST RANKING OFFICERS ONLY."
  18. He smiled, taking the paper, and shook her hand. "It was nice meeting you." he said. Then they sent her though the portal.
  19. "The time machine!" The soldier said happily. He had a hint of worry in his eyes, just for a second. They turned around to head back, and soon reached the portal, preparing it to send her through. "Hey, uh..." The soldier that had talked to her blushed, "I was wondering if I could get your number, and we could like... go get coffee or something sometime?"
  20. The soldier looks over her shoulder. "Ah. Too bad. Well... don't go around using the Kronos Apparatus to try and save him. Breaking the time stream is almost as bad a crime as impersonating a soldier!" He laughs. "Anyway, I guess you need to go back now?"
  21. It reloaded. Beep. Subject deceased. Universe HG6293937-SMDRY. Death nearly 100 years ago. Age 12. Cause of death: Stabbing.
  22. It beeped. Subject deceased. Universe HG6293937-SMDRY. Death nearly 100 years ago.
  23. The soldier rolls his eyes, but smiles. He’s getting much more comfortable around her. “The super-intelligent AI. It should be downloaded onto your devices and your brain chip.”
