  1. Calvary today. Took the transportation surge glyph and morphed it into a horse head. Added an additional transportation glyph in a different color to balance it out.
  2. Color shift to improve readability.
  3. Okay I've got a header for the instructions. I've decided to call this project "Alethi Supremacy, a rosharan cardgame" I'm getting pretty decent at calligraphy from this lol Today my work is the soulcaster card and I'm pleased. I've chosen to use the transformation surge glyph. As for shaping and modification, I stretched and morphed the center lines until I got a hand shape, and softened the lines. It wasn't the same on both sides though, so I mirrored the hand and shifted them upwards like two outstretched hands. That was empty though, so I added an orb and smoke( in honor of kaza ) to represent the act of soulcasting. I think it's a good representation of the idea and makes the card communicate the idea, which is the mist important bit.
  4. Oh wow that's a nice drawing of Kal you got going there!,....I can't wait to see the rest! ....oh. okay.
  5. Beta testing, Rule tweaking, Design polishing, glyph drawing. I really want to get most of this done by the end of august. I've got an internship starting in September, and I won't have as many lazy uneventful days for this nerd nonsense. I realized during beta plays that it's confusing with only one color of card, thus I'm going to have at least 2 colors. The most pleasing idea to me was having slightly themed decks. I'm already using oathbringer as the card back, and I'm adding th kholin glyph behind it. It's just a natural progression for a different colored deck to be a different house. Amaram for example. His shard blade and house glyphs would be the card back! Another thing to do along this line is to make the shardbearer card in each deck different, it's like the joker after all. So the shardbearer card will have a slightly different design than the other cards. It's still a wip. And look! I turned the kholin glyph into oathbringer! I think it's cool. Here's an extra today too. A quick sketch of me with my drawing tablet and digital art creation spren. Is that what it would look like? Maybe it would be just like regular creation spren but 18 bit pixel things. I went for a glitchy look. The concept gives me th Willie's. Plus my safe hand is covered, respectful vorin woman as I am. That's all you're getting out of me today, !
  6. Polishing designs

  7. New design drafts. While beta testing I found that it's hard to handle with only one color. Instead of just switching the pallette my idea now is to theme the different colors after actual armies, and use the family glyph stylized into a sword for th3 shard bearer card. Additionally, I've added a glyph behind the sword for visual appeal, and I can use the family glyph. Here's the card back with the kaolin glyph in the background, and beside it is the shardbearer card using the kaolin glyph morphed into a sword. Bada BOOM
  8. New drafts design drafts. Card back and shard bearer.

  9. Okay i printed out test cards. 8 Infantry, 4 calvary, 4 squire, 4 knight, 4 archer, 4 soul caster, 2 shard bearer. First try : tried without middle row in def. ended in a draw and couldnt move forward. There were too many stalemates. Second: ended very quickly. One side pulled a shard bearer and destroyed the other side. Third: going better. Found a way to make shard bearers less op. In the instance pf a draw, attacking cards will knock their opponent into defense. If I switch the shard bearer's stats, it can be blocked, but still not destroyed. Ill remove the card effect, becusse otherwise it will totally sweep the field. Putting a shard bearer in the lord position makes the player instantly win. Maybe male a rule to prevent the shard bearer from being a lord. Shard bearers are not defeatable, so perhaps I should only have ONE per deck instead of two.
  10. Im hitting my first roadblock with these storming glyphs

  11. Im trying desperately to find something along the lines of an alethi dictionary, but there are only a few words here and there. Im trying to make glyphs is what im trying to do. My understanding is that glyphs are the phonetic spellings of words drawn into the glyph in a pleasing an symmetrical way. I got that. No problems with the drawings. I cant find the words i need Would I just use Aramaic and translate it phoneticly into the script?
  12. In the instance i want non wooden copies there is this website https://www.printplaygames.com/ So price is by card, 18 cards per sheet. 7.75 per sheet. 7 card styles, so 54.25ish? Maybe an additional one for the infantry. If im considering doing 8 copies of the infantry, 2 copies of shardbearer and 4 copies of everything else ... Thats 4 1/2 decks. They would look better, but it would be cheaper to have fedex double side print a4s on cardstock and cut them myself. Thats like, 2$ a sheet and wont murder my printer. So thats what ill do if I want cardstock copies.
  13. I've made beta test cards. Ill print these on cardstock to beta test the rules so I can tweak what needs tweaking. I've tried to balance the stats so there's nothing totally unreasonable. Each card has potential to defeat a variety of other cards and be defeated depending on your strategy. Except shard bbearers. The only thing that can beat a shard bearer is another shardbearer, as it should be. They are op by design, the queens of the game. Still thinking about how many cards to a deck. I want the game to be playable by two people on a single deck. Fitting the different cards on one a4 would be nice as well, it might cut the costs depending on how many cards per deck i chose. 30 cards to a deck might do well. That's 4 a4s if I fit all the cards on the a4 like this and remove 2 of the shard bearers. If the minimum for the wood printing is 10, that's 2.5 full decks. One for husband, then maybe I can send a deck to Brandon and Emily and still have 2 copies of each card as a buffer for mistakes. Yes I like that idea. Then maybe Brandon will send us a letter and be like " hey neat thing you made for your husband's birthday. Thanks for the weird wooden cardgame, and happy birthday dude" I think husband would die if he had a letter from Brando. Aight that's the plan then.
  14. I think I'm leaning towards it as well. It's more eye-catching and I do love kaolin blue. Alright. Here's my hyperfocus today. What glyphs do I use?.?.. I've got two options. Using existing glyphs or making my own. so its my understanding glyphs are made up of letters phonetic sounds that make a word stylized into a pleasing shape. OK that's doable.... ish. I dont know enough of the language, but I can use the Phonetic sounds in English to literally spell the cards names. I've tried to do that with knight. Knight is N I T . Then I used those symbols and gradually morphed them into a shape of a helmet. It's a stretch, but i don't think it's terrible. Second option iis to use existing glyphs. If I do this I'm leaning towards using the iron stance scroll glyphs because violence. Stance 1 is the infantry because they are the front wave of the army, the initial stance, initial part of army. Stance 2, iron is for archer, because the shape looks like an arrow head. Stance 3, trap, parry is for squire because of the card effect I've assigned the squires, to swap places with the knight, a trap? Stance 4 depicted with a third step, second parry for calvary because their card effect is an additional move "step" Stance 5 is the finish, and is the knight. I thought there was a glyph for knight because knight radiance, but I can't find it. So then I ran out of stances. The transformation surge is possible for soul casters. The shardbearer is giving me the most trouble. I've got the glyph for strength as a possibility , but I'm not sold. I'm tempted to use the kaolin glyph pair because I'm already using oathbringer as an element on the front, but it's significantly more complicated. Again I'm sure there has to be a glyph of shard bearer SOMEWHERE but I can't find it. I'm getting a headache. Time to go for a walk.
  15. Playing with colors now. Theres two versions of the card fronts, the glyph version and the english ones for airsock lowlanders. Do we like the natural brown on wood or do we like color?
  16. Small changes. Almost ready to start the finals.

  20. Sick today, so I had a lot of time to work today. Looking good. Pleased. Probably going to have the Printing company print in color. It will cost more but it is probably worth it.
  21. Are there any updates on this version?
  22. Wasn't comfortable using the rules of someone I can't contact, so I've made my own rules to the card game. Here's the first draft

    Alethi War Cards.pdf

  23. OK I didn't feel comfortable using the rules from the other thread since I can't contact the makers so I've made my own rule set. I'll, odify it as I go but here is what I've got so far Alethi War Cards.pdf
  24. When you sing shallan's lullaby to your kid at night. I know its ... A less than pleasant choice but it's not like she knows its a murder song ....and its really pretty. She likes the bit about the crystals. She likes me to sing it on rainy nights.
