“You thought very wrong then.”

Edgar wrenched open the door, rushing in.

“It’s not yours!” Edgar growled.

“Maybe.”

“I’m thinking that I’m in over my head. That I should have stayed lost…”

Kind of? More of a “dang, I forgot to add any relationship drama…let’s make this fun.”

“Do you…need something?”

“But I stabbed it and it turned into dust, right?”

“Of course, we wouldn’t let anyone get squished or eaten. Now can you please explain to Roy that I was the one to kill the cyclops?”

“Then go ask her!”

Daniel knocked louder, growing worried.

“No!” Daniel heard her yell faintly. Was he imagining it? It wouldn’t hurt to check. He slid off his bed, walking towards her room. He knocked softly, not realizing three little kids had followed him.

“Daniel! Now that your girlfriend’s gone, can you play with us again?” Jimmy asked, smiling. Daniel laughed. “She’s not gone, and it’s your bedtime. I’m pretty tired too.” Jimmy and the girls groaned. “But you just got back! We’ve missed you!” Lily said. He smiled. “One game. Then bedtime for all of us.” They played three games, hide and seek (which he had become much too big for a long time ago,) tag (very loud,) and the floor is lava again (Lily one, surprisingly.) Eventually, he tucked the kids in at their request. It was good to see his family again. He went to his room, smiling. He hoped Rex was doing as good as he was.

He waved back. “Daniel and his girlfriend were kissing!” Lily whispered excitedly. “Knock it off,” Daniel said to them.

He smiled back, then slowly let go of her and left. “Hey, Jane, you’ll never believe what I just saw,” Lily said to her sister.

“Dad said it’s bedtime. For you too, even though you were too old before. I guess he thinks you need special restrictions.” She raised an eyebrow at them. Sorry, I guess I…have to go. I love you.

“I’m sure. Ask the new girl. Yes, there’s a new girl, you probably didn’t notice that either.” @Random Bystander

“Yes, you are,” Daniel said tersely, turning to find Lily there. “What do you need?”

“Uhh…am I interrupting something?” One of the twins asked from the door.

He leaned down and kissed her.

“I think it is…I just keep getting lucky and killing the monsters after you guys weaken them.” He shrugged, then walked over to Roy.

He leaned on her in return. He felt more and more comfortable with her the longer they were together. He was very happy that she was doing the talking for the most part, he was bad at it.

He hugged her back, then sat next to her, wrapping an arm around her. “You’ll…probably get better at fighting them as you get used to them.”

Edgar walked back towards Jenny and the new person, trying not to show his excitement. He’d killed a cyclops! He was getting less useless! He handed Gift back to Jenny. “Thank you!”
