Daniel hesitantly wrapped his arms around her, stopping. “I need you Rex. I love you and you are important to me. And I couldn’t do better. There is no one else I’d rather be with.” “Good. I’m sorry, for everything.”

Helda looked up at him from within his arms. “Are you ok?”

“No, you aren’t, I can tell. Please, you can tell me.”

“I…don’t I? Why not? I’m sorry.”

“I don’t know…I’d do anything for you.”

“Can I help you be more ok?”

“Are you ok?”

Helda watched him fall asleep. He seemed so tired, he really had been worried. How awful she had been to him, and yet he still seemed to love her. - - - “I think so. With you here, I am.” @Just-A-Stick

He squeezed her hand back, and continued walking.

She went with him gladly, happy to be at his side again. “Ok. I still feel bad that it was a choice you made because of what I was doing. But it wasn’t just my fault, I’ll accept that.”

“But if you hadn’t…”

“I like that.” She stood up reluctantly.

“Because I was going to…you know. And you hurt yourself stopping me. So it’s my fault.”

“I don’t want you to, but…well this probably isn’t a very good place to be.” “But it’s true.

“Your hand. And that you need me in the first place.” - - - She let him hold her for a long while. “Should we go now?”

“I just still feel bad. This is my fault.” “Well I’m glad you see it that way.”

“A couple miles, are you ok to walk that much?” He seemed to grow ashamed. She smiled hesitantly back. “There’s a lot of reasons, you just ignore them.”

“Alright, let’s go.” He kissed her forehead, then started walking. “Then I’m glad that you do that.”

“I’m glad that you put up with me, and all I am.”

“You reminded me…after all that time gone I had forgotten why I loved you. But I remember now.” - - - He stroked her hair gently. “And I love you, so very much.” @Just-A-Stick

She let herself be held, and this time it felt right. There was still stuff she would need to get over, but for now this would suffice.

“Can we stay here, please? Just for a little longer.” - - - Daniel blushed too, then smiled back. “So what all will you need me at the hospital?” @Just-A-Stick

“Then can we stay here?” She snuggled in closer to him.
